Now that we have a tutorial, can you remove 3pv?

Okay, first: Garth we appreciate all you are trying to do, and generally I try not to throw rocks at the messenger, especially one who seems to be increasingly caught between Scylla and Charybdis.

That being said, this patch seems to be running true to PGI form: make several (drastic) changes to an area of gameplay that would seem, on the surface at least, to correct an issue, but actually creates additional issues in gameplay.

To make it palatable, PGI gives us a new Mech and a new Hero, which they will be glad to charge for, just so that players can swallow the current bit of nasty in the rest of the patch. The feel good placebo will last just long enough to allow the Sept. 'Launch, before we realize we do indeed have a severe tummy ache and maybe need to stop swilling down stuff that is bad for us (and our wallets.)

I'm glad that their is a very basic tutorial, especially only two weeks away from launch. Nothing like sliding home in the last play of the ball game...Now where is the long awaited UI2.0?

Oh, wait, maybe the game needs extra innings for that gem to become available. Or do we need to propose to PGI that we are willing to throw more money at them if we "Please, Pretty pretty please!" Would like to have them actually deliver on a promised element if the game.

Again, Garth hang in there, and if you need a change of career in the next couple of months, hit me up and I'll set you up in the lucrative health care profession here in the States...

Is what its all about nerf or not nerf? The biggest question I get asked is how to get rid of 3rd person view. Its about sound and moral business principles. Mr. Bullock wrote letters that were from the heart. About the failure of third person and other mistakes. I think well of him for that. PGI comes out saying how everything is great and peachy, which is not what Mr. Bullock said. All we heard from PGI was smoking mirrors and slick double talk. How many times do they have to do it before most get it? At least one person did. Right on brother.

OK PGI, I get it now.

You released all of the rage worthy stuff last month so that people could get it out of their system. Now you release a patch that makes people happy, so the amount of rage leading up to launch is minimal. Good job, Bravo I must say. Bravo. I didn't get much of a chance to play last night. I'm NOT a fan of the Gauss change. I'm sure I'll adapt to it though (or Macro it).

When the game launches, I will buy the Orion hero mech, ONLY because the name "Protector" has a nostalgic hook into my soul, so you win on that account. Other than that, I'm still in a spending holding pattern though.

Good job with this patch. Seriously. I don't feel as though I am gimpimg myself with other weapon combos now.

Incredible. I stopped using the PPCs two patches ago because they were nerfed so badly for heat. Virtually unplayable. What is the point in increasing the heat again??? If you guys don't want PPCs in the game, just remove them. All I've seen so far is the Devs caving to the crying whiners that lack the ability to counter snipers with tactics. Here's an idea whiners - don't stand still in the open if you don't want to get sniped. Use cover and concealment. I know, I know - logic.

Faster Gauss, I like! Time to patch and play a few more rounds after spending a couple of weeks trading like a madman for cosmetic sets in Dota 2. If you guys sign up with Steam, have Carol make a Dota 2 Announcer Pack. I'll grab that instantly. The announcer from the game Bastion was allowed to make an Announcer Pack for Dota 2.

Then again we talked about this before! Different voice options for mechs. They also sell different HUD skins there. :(

- A "sniper" takes time to aim and should be firing 1 certain and accurate shot at a time.

-A "sniper" is not supossed to jump in the air and still be able to get a steady and accurate shot..

-A "sniper" should only need 1 weapon of a kind to "snipe" (for example 1 ER PPC + 1 Gauss)

- Is not called OVER-NERFED, is called balancing to a more realistic game that allows both play styles (brawl and snipe)

Yes, you can still snipe but no more ridiculous 4 ER PPC builds... Just make sure you set up you build wisely.

AND STOP CRYING

Glad to hear the PPC's ,and subsequently the poptarts, have been hit by the nerfbat finaly. Was a long time coming.

Not sure about the Guass delay, kinda negates the high velocity shot if its delayed in the first place..but still.

Main thing though, and the reason im still not coming back to play MWo atm, PGi... WHY YOU NO FIX AC2's ?!
I just wanan play my AC2 dakka mech for **** and giggles. I cant stand the constant alphawarrior super high damage instant kill meta that we have atm ..so i choose to play the undedog with a pure DPS AC2 build ..but ...the 'ghost heat 'heat penalty' what ever u cal lit ..has royal fked it up. FIX Please ! :(

You're supposed to notate that you are being sarcastic, and not clueless. This sounds like you didn't read the patch notes, dev blog, or the rest of this thread before posting.

The bump in projectile speed is meaningless because it does not provide extra damage (like it should)...so this "buff" as they are calling it is merely cosmetic as it provides no meaningful benefit.

Hmm..except reducing the chance to miss at extreme range, thereby improving the number of hits, thereby allowing more damage per game. Yes, not a meaningful change. :D

Well after a night of playing I'm pretty happy with this patch. What I liked most of all was the fixes to HSR and hit registration in general. It still isn't perfect but after dropping a few lights (including a couple spiders) with an AC20 I couldn't help but smile.

You know the saying "Ignorance is bliss"? That's a lie, it just makes you look like a fool. Please read the patch notes next time before posting.

No... they have mentioned that already on a previous post....
Why do you keep on complaining about 3PV?!

Does it affect you?! it should not... In fact it affects people who use it, since they dont have map and sensors.

Are you forced to use it?! Ofc NOT.

Now my question...

WHY DO YOU KEEP ON CRYING?!!

Why do we keep complaining about it? Because it was never supposed to be in the game, was specifically pledged never to be in the game, and was promised never to be forced upon the playerbase who didn't want to play in the environment it caused.

Does it affect me? Yes, it does. By saying it does not, when you know full well that -every- game is one where it is used by those with and against me, offering advantages that should never have been granted and which then alter the fight I am engaged in, you are merely showing how little you think before trying to sound grown up.

Am I forced to use it? Considering everyone has to start with it engaged before they can turn it off, the answer to this should be self-evident. Am I forced to use it in every game? I am being forced to deal with it every game, so it is the same thing...yes, I am being forced to fight in a battle environment where people can look over hills that I cannot, so again, you aren't considering your question. As long as I enter any MWO game, I am being forced into a battle where 3PV is enabled.

If anyone is crying, it seems like it is you, afraid your new crutch will be taken away. Compared to the broken commitment and promise that was made multiple times by the Devs, that is the truely childish part of your post. Go back to school and get educated.

This is the target player the Dev's wanted to attract with 3PV? Not worth the trouble, if you ask me.

I'm not really a fan of the Gauss mechanic. Maybe if it was click to charge and then click again to fire. The hold to charge is not intuitive at all. Also I think the time limit before the capacitors reset should be 2 seconds may 2.25

{sips coffee}

Morning everyone. Good to see that most of the replies are positive... Disregarding those who gloss over them and skip to the negative posts so they can then make "Majority of the community" assertions, and the nerdragers who hump a topic fishing for likes and claiming there is "Community Outrage" but when you examine the thread, they make up over 80% of the negative posts.

And those of you who are QQing about having your "Easy Button" taken away, your tears make WONDERFUL coffee. Keep it up.

Yes it can and does affect everyone. However, I don't believe that the impact is as great as what a lot of the people are complaining that it is. I say this after watching the results of 3 weeks of play and not seeing anyone really using it to great affect. I will concede that I'm not part of a group that is hitting the competitive 12 mans so it is possible that there are some folks that have found a way to really use it to effect.

Your argument here is suspect. You claim that you have to use it every game when you can simply check a tick box in the setup to turn it off as the default starting view and then you claim that everyone else can use it to see over hills when you cant when you clearly can by just turing 3pv on to do so. If you choose to not use something because you don't like it that's your choice. Your not being forced to use it or not.

I understand that you don't like it in the game and feel that you were lied to about it being put into the game when they said that they wouldn't. Welcome to the world of online games. I've not played in an online game yet where something like this hasn't happened to some extent.

The CHOICE you now have is do you support this game or not. If you feel that the devs have been dishonest, and have made the game unplayable in your view then show them. Leave the game or stop paying for anything within the game whatever you feel is appropriate.

Please note that I am not trying to tell you to actually leave the game and I'm not trying to hate on you. I for one am waiting to see how they use 3pv where CW is concerned. My hope is that they will not allow it for CW and let that stand as the "Hard Mode" that everyone wants.

Multiple patches later and AC2s are still bugged into uselessness and obscurity.
