Previous
Gauss 1200m/s
PPC 2000m/s
800m/s difference

Current
Gauss 2000m/s
PPC 1500m/s
Difference 500m/s

The speed difference between the 20 damage and 15 damage components has actually been reduced.

Bolded figure is wrong. The Gauss rifle's pre-patch projectile speed was 1600 m/s, not 1200 m/s, for a difference of 400 m/s between Gauss and PPC. The patch bumped that up to 500.

Plus, before the patch PPCs were the more important half of the PPC/Gauss combo, as they were easier to hit with than the Gauss, hit harder, and didn't use up ammo. You could take potshots with them all day long at distant targets, where heat doesn't really matter, and never have to close with the enemy. Now that PPCs are harder to hit with, the Gauss is the better long-range weapon, but you can't shoot indiscriminately with them as you could with PPCs, since you're going to run out of ammo eventually.

It's a straight nerf, dude. You're wrong.

Patch notes disagree:

Check the patch notes- changed from 1200 to 2k.

By the way I didn't say the build was objectively more powerful I said that it was subjectively more powerful.

Only PPC/Gauss builds tend to return fire effectively against a jump sniper and those have been nerfed too and harder.
1) The charge time on a gauss bothers a jump sniper much less than it does somebody trying to return fire against one.
2) The heat increase bothers a jump sniper less than somebody who isn't going to pop back down to cool off in safety after firing a shot.

Thus the jump sniper is nerfed less hard than it's rivals thus... by comparison it is more powerful than it was.

Wait, really? All this time AC5 rounds have been faster than Gauss rounds? Huh.

My other points still stand though. The best counter to a poptart is not a stationary PPC/Gauss counter-sniper, unless the poptart is stupid and jumps from the same point every time. It has always been about maneuver, positioning, and closing the distance. That was the aggravating part about fighting that tactic. You had to significantly outplay the enemy by closing distance while staying in cover, trying to corral your teammates into doing the same, while all he has to do is jump, point, and shoot. Even when you did manage to close to brawling range, you usually had plenty of holes in your armor to exploit, while the poptart is still plenty dangerous in a brawl, despite carrying a "long-range" build. O

Or you could have gone the easy route and run a poptart build yourself, but that's not really countering the tactic as much as employing it yourself.

Now that PPC/Gauss poptarting is more difficult and PPC/Gauss builds have been made less effective in brawls, they are easier to deal with, and thus, nerfed.

People did pretty good with gauss when it had a firing delay and lag shielded lol light mechs were still on the field.

Which is a bit different from 'I have to hold the trigger down X amount of time to fire a weapon' I didn't know a sniper ever had a weapon with a fire delay. It's an idiotic mechanic on a sniper weapon. Is it game breaking? Not really. But it is another stupid mechanic made by our developers.

0/10 for that pathetic attempt. I shouldn't have to explain it to you as its fairly obvious why a macro is worth less than skill.

All you have to do is claim that you never messed up a single rocket jump in your life. Then you play better than or as good as a script. For some reason you have not made that claim.
