I love Battletech, **** I'm canonized in Battletech fiction.
Who gives a damn!? I love BattleTech, I've been playing it since November 1984, have kept up on all the developments, have been running my merc unit since mid-late '85, the same unit off-line until late '97, and then on-line there. My merc unit SHOULD be canon, but it's not because you have to cup the balls of TPTB of the BattleTech universe to get done what you want to get done. If you're not in the right place at the right time, you don't mean anything to them. Still, I love this universe, and I stick around because I would like to see it develop, continue to grow, for my own enjoyment and that of my friends.

You mean exactly ZERO to a whole lot of people, just like I do, so stop bragging that you're canon'ized, Tubie. By the way, I clicked on the link you had, and it had NOTHING on that page, so again, exactly ZERO.

Now, would you like to see this game succeed, or would you like to continue bitching and complaining about something over which you have ZERO control. Not only can this game succeed, it can be out of this world awesome if you will help it to be so. If you can change something, if you can program this game better, if you can do anything our development hosts cannot, I suggest you put up... or shut up.

I don't usually come to the forums any more because they're so toxic. Though sometimes it amuses me, today I slightly agree with some of the resentment(though not for the reasons that most people have).

Launch is the first time I've been truly disappointed in MWO. I understand that these guys are a small team and they're broken up into smaller(sometimes 1 man) groups to accomplish tasks. I also understand that they have to sift through someone else's code to fix bugs in engine itself. I've had to do that before in a programming class on an obviously much smaller scale and that is a crappy job sometimes. It takes a lot of work and aspirin sometimes.

No new features today because they aren't ready? Awesome! I can wait. Thanks for not bugging up my happy mecha fun time. But wait,,,

No leader board tourney?

No Piranha Hunt?.

Operation 24? I can't find the exact event rules any more but I think it was play 24 matches before the end of the month or something and get a cockpit decoration. Really?

I admit... I was secretly hoping that everyone would get a free mastered Urbanmech who signed up and played a match before an end date(which I know is literally a lot to ask). That wouldn't have been the only answer I would have accepted, though.

WHERE'S THE REVELRY AND POMP!?!? DUDES!?!? THIS IS YOUR LAUNCH! YOU ONLY GET ONE OF THESE!!! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BLOW OUR MINDS!!!!

The forums only grew toxic because some people weren't deluding themselves throughout the entire development process. When things started to go downhill and only accelerated the downward spiral, we knew launch would be nothing more than a date on the calendar well before PGI confirmed this fact.

We used to be optimistic! You did, I did, everybody else did. PGI brought this upon themselves. Suddenly-not-optimistic people like you are only just now realizing the same feeling of being let down that all those "toxic" players experienced months ago. Good job keeping up the faith and all, but the deadlines have come and gone while we get things like Ghost Heat shoveled into a game we once loved.

Which linked here ... WTF does that mean??

It means they don't even take the time to update their email templates announcing launch. That's how unimportant launch is. That's how little they care.

just because they couldn't balance their weapons they added a charge up on the guass. If they fixed hit detection and learned how to balance out their weapons they wouldn't have had to in put a stupid gimicky firing delay

..i'm sorry, is balance restricted to pure damage values or gemplay mechanics as well? I think the mechanics accomplish well conveying the spirit of the weapon as something that benefits most from long range, and I am able to use it extremely effectively as such. That you are boo-hoo-hooing about inability to group it with other high-alphas isn't particularly surprising, though rich in irony when viewed in the context of goons whipping up the anti-PGI frenzy over 'HOW PPC-gauss combo was left untouched for so many months!! RREAAEEEAAGGE!"

also, the guys who will wave tabletop sourcebooks at all of this, and insist that implementing pure tabletop values into this game is going to give us peace in the middle east as well as cure cancer should keep well in mind that tabletop (when was the last time you played, which edition?) was never particularly balanced. what kept a sense of balance was always the consensus of the group.. if you look at any competitive bt tournaments, people were often asked to leave for 'going against the spirit' of the game..that proposition is somewhat more difficult when dealing with the internets and the sort of fine folks that dwell there, perhaps best evidenced by what is going on here at the moment..

gauss is fine and useful in pracised hands. those who rage against its current form are upset that they are not able to use it as they once did, which was the entire point of the change. some people are still raging that the 8x bugged splash damage was removed from SRMs, and that the 'pinnacle of fun' in this game was when LRM trajectory came down directly on your head regardless of cover.

and this is precisely why it is up to PGI to balance the weapon mechanics, instead of being made to kowtow before a hodgepodge of trolls, those advocating their personal playstyle or wearing rose-tinted glasses of closed beta romanticism, when we were young and naive and anything seemed possible...

You guys are the real problem.
You'll keep screaming it's all good until it all gone.
Then what?
The only reason this game is afloat now is, because people like me and yes you also love MW/Battletech so much.
But your type will all ways claim the Emperor has cloths on.
Even when he's bare arsed naked.

By answering the following question: you're at a job that requires you to perform customer support, and there are a good 20-30 people you see daily, and have to deal with. Perhaps over 100 people per week, you by yourself.

Over half of these people throw fits at you, daily. Your boss throws fits at you, too, because all of these people are throwing fits at you. It's extremely frustrating, and really hard to deal with on a daily basis. Maybe it even turns you into a somewhat abusive person who more or less stops listening.

How long would you continue to work that job, Boot?!

Yep, you're absolutely right. What good are you doing? Oh, and answer my original questions? Don't just give ignorant-*** feedback.

this late point in the Beta Test process is a joke.
You totally missed all the negative feedback over a period of about a year now leading up to the #saveMWO campaign then, right? You're not just speaking out of a desire to paint the negative views as too late (for a game in constant development) to discredit the opposing view and are just genuinely ignorant?
