To the supporters: Soldier On! I've been playing BattleTech/MechWarrior games myself since MW2, played MW3 & PM, MW4, BK & Mercs and went through at least 5 sets of different Joystick / Throttle combos through that timeline. Bear-in-mind that I *do* have my own problems with MWO, but I see these as challenges for ME to adapt to, not for PGI to fix to make ME happy. I'm having to learn how to play MW all over again because of the poor Joystick support, but I'm willing to LEARN and not B*TCH about it.
Adapt...or move on.
To PGI: You've done an admirable job in resurrecting the franchise! As a former Dev (not in games, but in products that come out of a little company in Redmond) I know the hard work it takes to get a product to launch. People seldom understand the grueling process of developing software and the effort put from all involved parties in getting it released; they also rarely understand that *any* software product that is released is never "feature-complete" at the release date, and that patches and updates are always part of the development process of any kind of software development project. It would do the nay-sayers a bit of good to take that to heart and engage their brains before posting ill-informed comments.
Here's to a bright future for MWO!
Quick reminder to the ill informed.
1 - The free to play business model encourages a minority of active players to fund everything. Key word is Minority. Most of the people that are showing anger Have dropped lots of money into this game.
2 - While MWO has done a good job resurrecting the Series they now have the problem that if they ignore too many "Haters" as people like to call them, They run the risk of creating unwanted competition. (a example off the top of my head is how War Craft 3 lost out on Dota and it spawned Dota 2 and League of Legends)
3 - Most of what people are complaining about boils down to the fact that this Launch has been in Planning for A YEAR. A little pomp and Ceremony is expected and to receive none is a let down.
4 - AND the worst offense that PGI / MWO has is their poor communication. Even a Part timer making min wage sitting on computer and being active on these forums and talking to people would help. Even if most of the time they only said their sorry or clarified whats going on. Saying things like, "Ya we are working on XYZ and ran into a bug.. sorry but its going to be delayed." Saying that when it happens rather then when the expected item is due would help alleviate the hostility that has been showing up.
PS: Loved the new Trailer

congratulations for the launch of MWO. The job you did wasn´t that bad. A lot of features came in and made the game better. Ok, personally i am a little disappointed about the latest weapon balancing, but ok, i am only one man here.
Today - i came late from my job - i was really looking forward for the new patch, and for the launch of our beloved game. Let me tell you, at some nights i am dreaming about this game; and i am thinking a lot of how improve my skills, how to improve teamtactics of our unit, and sometimes i am very angry about loosing games. But, what could I say? I´m loving it to do so.
As I said, I came late at home from work, startet MWO, patched, and I was really sad! As JohnMatriX said, you could do so much to made this "launch" feel good for us.
And beyond of all the frustration about the launch, I want to let you know this:
At the German subforum there is a thread where someone count´s how many Players are organized in Units/Clans/chapter/whatever. More than 1300 Gamers, and i am sure, there are some more. How many may there be out worldwide? I do not know ... but are teams really such a small customer group for you?
I really hoped for something - from you, with this launch - for all the units out there. we played in leagues, for planets, and again we want to sit there, drink some coffee, discuss some tactics with our buddies and solve strategic problems ... and surely, then we want to drop against another unit.
That´s what we hoped so much for! In no other game I had such a team-experience like in mech-games! And after the sunset of MW4 we really hoped for next generation of Mechwarrior, because the nights with my buddies - playing Mechwarrior - was surely one of best I had.
Please Mr. Ekman, give us player-units/teams back this feeling! We are sick of playing only randomized 12vs12, and sick about playing ten times canyon network at one evening. And after this launch we get more and more frustrated about it.
Please provide us private lobbies/matchmaking as a possibility as one of the very next steps, and give us some more and bigger maps, don´t forget about the Teams in this community!
PS: and by the way, if I could provide a wish: please design Palace Gates for MWO!

If you dont like the game.. dont play it.. dont come to the forums and hate on it because you were stupid enough to pay during an open beta.. I paid for it.. Not entirely happy with it.. but hey.. not my game.. got plenty of other games I can play.. not going to waste my time crying like a ***** over something I CHOSE to do...
you all could have waited until release to decide whether you wanted to pay.. but no, THE SHINYS got you, trinkets and deedlyboppers made your decision for you... deal with it.. either that or ask for a refund and ****.. life to short to listen to people ***** about trivial things...

The "Beta" label.
...and the horde of White Knights tasked with spamming "10" scores on Metacritic while openly announcing their score is to compensate for the "trolls" giving the game a "0."

On the other hand, you need to take a serious look at community enablement, you need more dedicated community managers, assigned MRBC and House Military liasons to communicate with player units, events that represent in-universe happenings. This doesn't need to wait for UI 2.0, YOU are the Game Masters of the universe! Are we playing a rinky dink 24 player FPS or the Inner Sphere, 3050?

Once in a lifetime, letting the days go by;
Same as it ever was,
Same as it ever was,
Same as it ever was
Seems like pre-launch and post-launch are the same as it ever was, letting the days go by.
Y'know, come to think that song could be about PGI...
"Into the blue again
After the money's gone
Once in a lifetime..."
Oh yeah. Then there's the point they'll never reach:
"And you may ask yourself my god- what have I done?"

Aww, c'mon, buck up little soldier. You, with your brand new account and blind faith in PGI, are obviously the silent majority they've been tailoring the game to and waiting for.

Wipe is just like new features for release- we get neither.

The Whistling Pig,
As reported by
Robert Frezza
in the novels
A Small Colonial War, Fire in a Faraway Place & Cain's Land
CHORUS
'We're having a war,
and we want you to come!'
So the pig began to whistle
and to pound upon a drum
'We'll give you a gun,
and we'll give you a hat!'
And the pig began to whistle
when they told the piggies that!
GENERAL VERSES
The pig put on his webbing,
and they marched him up and down
He did it with a whistle,
so they gave him sand to pound
He crossed the burning desert,
and he trekked the arctic night
And they made him do it over
so he'd learn to do it right
The pig cleaned up his webbing,
and he shined his bayonet
Some people started shooting,
so he shot them with regret
He couldn't work an office,
and he couldn't be a clerk
For pigs who like to whistle,
like to whistle while they work
The pig went on vacations,
to places near and far,
For fighting wars on schedule,
makes for very good PR.
The generals love the piggies,
and the natives think them swell,
Or At least they often say so
after putting them through hell.
Wars are sometimes over
and they debited his pay,
They took away his hat
and then they took his gun away,
They told him they were thankful
and they split him north to south
As they fried him with a whistle
and an apple in his mouth!
