MWO is fun for what it is. Is it what we were led to expect?, not entirely. Could it be improved?, yes and the devs will keep working on it at whatever pace they can manage. Someday this game will include all of the features we want, but maybe not quickly enough for some.

MWO is not dying, I have no problem getting into a game at any time of of the day or night. Most of the people I group with still play. Whining, crying, giving ultimatums, are not constructive and do not make the devs work on the game any more or less.

If the quality of the game could be measured in plain manhours then I am sure it'd be as good as it could possibly be given budgets, manpower, hours in the day etc, but that isn't so.

There are core design issues at work which are holding back the game itself, and they (amongst other things) hint at further institutional issues that need to be addressed before the game will reach its full potential.

What ultimatums? Havent seen anyone here pulling any ultimatums...

The only ultimatums that where brought up where made by PGI by self imposing deadlines... wich they then proceeded to not keep.

Every...single...one

Think about this for a moment... 1 year and they where not able to keep even one of their SELF IMPOSED deadlines. And during that one year they kept comming up with new deadlines over and over again.

And now suddenly we are to believe that everything will change all of a sudden? Heck they havent even started one line of code for community warfare yet because they havent even finished UI 2.0 by now... and as they have explained themselves:

No UI 2.0 no CW because CW builds upon UI 2.0

... I don't know, guys, it's not going to hurt me to wait 7 more days to see if we'll be treated to something good.

Well we waited a year for "nothing at launch". so 7 more days don't seem like too much. However, everyone's patience is finite and while some people are willing to wait longer, other's are not... can you really blame them?

How lone are you willing to wait, for example? What if they don't introduce anything of interest at the Launch party (that takes place 1 week after the pseudo-launch). Or if they say all the real features were pushed for 2014? Or if they say they scrapped some of them completely?

It's everyone's decision how long are they willing to wait, but those that are burned out on this "battle arena tech demo" are entitled to just as much as you are entitled to wait longer patiently...

That's not helpful, and pretty insulting to boot.

I agree that comments like that are not helpful, and I also agree that they are pretty insulting to boot. That said, I chuckled when I read it.

I generally chuckle when I see someone getting taken for more than a typical 419 scam through a F2P game.

You should try out Hawken! It's a great alternative for you if you don't like the direction this game is going!

Great link you've posted there. Really very interesting and informative.

September 26th, in 7 days, there will be the official launch party, and at least some of it will be live-streamed. In NGNG 88, Bryan Ekman said there is to be an outline of coming attractions. He did not say anything about a time-line for release of those attractions, though at other points in the podcast he pointed to attempting to get UI 2.0 started and tested. Six months came from someone else's fingertips on these forums, I don't remember hearing that from the horse's mouth, so anyone who says six months without explaining where they got that from is wrong and should be ignored.

It was explained to us, to all of us, that this launch was going to be little more than a move to production servers, and our normal patch time. That's what happened. If you're surprised or disappointed, perhaps you should explore, IN YOURSELVES, why you're surprised or disappointed, or any other emotion for that matter.

That said, let's see what takes place on the 26th. My surprise and my happiness with MWO increased a good deal when I heard the things I did in NGNG 88. Of course, several people will be unhappy, are incapable of understanding, and will tear apart what was said, regardless of how good it sounded. You people gave this game, just like me, a chance before, and a chance after that, and after that, etc.; what does it hurt you to sit back, wait and see?

they should probably put NGNG links on their front page...and actually acknowledge that NGNG are paid
and probably shut down tweets for the dev's...oh and stop lying on marketing...hence a lot of zero's on metacritic

Will we get there? Only depends on PGI.

But to rebuttal your pathetic attempt at a insult. no i am not as you put it butt-hurt. i am simply having more fun on the forums then playing the so called game related to these forums.
The point I was trying to make is exactly the point you've just made for me. You would rather throw a fit and poison these forums, and potential future players, than stop and listen. It's a disease to continually run the mouth and fail to listen to anyone else's viewpoint.

In truth, I honestly can't. However, what good does it do when the naysayers want to scream out-loud all the time and fail to listen for anything? You good people seem to believe that I'm not dismayed by the lack of completion I've seen; I'm there with you, believe you-me. But, I've finally realized two things...

1) It doesn't matter how long or loud we scream, how many thousands of posts there are that denigrate our hosts, who were never required to build this game, and I'm simply sick and tired of trying to get blood from a stone;

2) PGI are not responsible for building or controlling this community, we have to be, the players. Likewise, we are not responsible for PGI, how they build this game, and if we put money into the game, we are responsible for what we've spent, not what they do with the game. If we don't like the game, we stop spending on the game, go and do something else. So, yelling and screaming aren't doing any good; so we have to determine whether or not we're going to support this game. After what I heard in the three-hour interview with Bryan Ekman, NGNG Podcast 88, I'm going to support this game.

Quote

How lone are you willing to wait, for example?
Until I find out/figure out or determine for myself -not by anyone else's vitriol or ignorance- that PGI is, indeed, not advancing this game, anymore. As slowly as we perceive this game is moving forward, it is. The Command Chair monthly entries tell us what PGI are doing and, as painfully slow as it is, the game is advancing. We have a new map due in October, four new 'Mechs (Phoenix), weapon balancing is continuing, though now it's in very fine tweaking rather than massive testing, the economy is being rebuilt to support 12 v 12 fights, potentially Battalion vs. Battalion, and Community Warfare, elements of which they are due to begin testing in early October. So, the game is still advancing, it's still being built. If I ever feel that's basically stopped, so will I.

Quote

What if they don't introduce anything of interest at the Launch party (that takes place 1 week after the pseudo-launch). Or if they say all the real features were pushed for 2014? Or if they say they scrapped some of them completely?
Look, I'm honestly not making excuses for PGI, because I fell they're behind the cart at this point, as well. However, again, it does me absolutely no good whatsoever to get my blood pressure up over something I have utterly no control over. Bryan Ekman, in Podcast 88 for NGNG said he was going to be giving a live update on the development of this game on the 26th. If this does not happen, then it will be a sure sign, I believe, that PGI are having a huge problem, and that may be the end for me; however, I don't believe that's going to happen, I believe we're going to get an update that's going to excite us, reignite our dreams for this game. I don't that's {Noble MechWarrior}, at all, I think that's cautious optimism.

Quote

It's everyone's decision how long are they willing to wait, but those that are burned out on this "battle arena tech demo" are entitled to just as much as you are entitled to wait longer patiently...
You're absolutely right. However, what harm does it do me to try and encourage, in my own way, my fellow players to hang on a bit longer. It doesn't hurt anyone to shut their pie holes and wait a bit longer over something they have zero control over.
