The amount of time you spend defending it against any sort of criticism is amazing.
I just want to make a quick observation here. There are a lot of people frustrated with the various things that did or did not happen within the community. Their concerns, valid or not at all, are certainly something they are entitled to. There is also a crew of mostly the same folks circlejerking the froth to levels hitherto unknown. You're one of them. Plain as day to anyone who visits the forum more than once or scans across a couple of threads (or just post histories of folks like chrono, wales grey, warhippie, blue footed, etc..) that there's a bit of 'community warfare' afoot, in the sense familiar to anyone who played eve for any length of time.
So, yeah, i usually take a moment out of my day to respond to that. If only to point out to someone who might be visiting the forum for the first time and misunderstand what they're seeing. Because far from everyone hates this game - i mean, unlike wales & co, you actually play it with some regularity. Even if your abilities as a forum poster and the dedication with which you hone them by far outweigh your remedial in-game performance.
Its also pretty lazy to try and stigmatise the people who like the game as white-knights or undiscriminating simpletons, in part because a random person reading that who doesn't have much stake one way or another would just ask why you were still here, admonishing the game (and anyone who does not share your view point) for weeks on end like a broken record. Even to some guy who doesn't care, it would just look like ulterior motive, same as a few hundred 0-rating posts on metacritic over a day or two. [REDACTED]
Part of why it took so long to get another battletech game was microsoft's insistence that the property has 'a toxic community' attached to it. They mostly meant the tabletop neckbeards by that, sort of people who feel that the moment you stray from the TT rulebook, you are to be excommunicated, tarred, feathered and fed to starved marmots in the tundra somewhere. They didn't precisely mean the goons having a collective spergspasm over not getting a 'CSM' path to armchair-designing the game. But, i think, even the metacritic, even this forum shows a live and vibrant community, with much **** being given. Things look bad when nobody cares, not when you get more starkly mixed opinions on the game in a day than WOT has gotten in two years.

Also, for the Nth time, a White-Knight requires at least presumed ulterior motive. People don't automatically become an internet trope because, gasp, their opinion significantly differs from yours, how dare those ******* basards. Nor do they suddenly get long greasy hair upon their pale, balding heads when some liao brah who took a week off of work to troll an internet robots forum goes real mediocre with some more copypasta.
