The way I figure it, there is six months between now and the clan invasion. That comes out to $40/month to reach the top package. If they meet the deadline they set for that month, I'll invest for that month. If not, I'll invest in something else instead. If enough people do this, they will see a direct correlation between their deadline success rate and monetary income, thereby reinforcing the positive (or negative) job they are doing.

That's pretty much what I am saying too. I think the clan packages are well priced if you ignore the gold jokes, but I'm not putting any money down until they meet some of their own deadlines.

I think this package is not really fare at all. As an example if you want a Mad Cat (the most iconic Clan mech there is) you will have to buy the second to the highest tier package to be able to obtain it. So no Hero Mad Cat for me.

Wow ! 7 days of prem time for all the broken promises and heartache....so lackluster. That's like giving an eight year old socks for his only Christmas gifts!

Lol at least it's something... granted mine went into the 90+ days I have yet to activate because of the current state of the game. Will buy more into it once some significant steps are made.

It will take a lot for PGI to turn the ship around, but if they are committed to restitution with the community, then this is a good first step. Hopefully more to come!

Now that could really turn things around! Too bad to kill a dev that means they have to stop working and get into the game. Me thinks I would rather want them working.....

Most iconic is up for debate. While the Mad Cat was one of the first talked about in the books, I would have to say the Daishi easily takes the "iconic" cake in my opinion. I can't remember a single person in the books that piloted a Mad Cat, while both Natasha and Hanse both piloted Daishi's off the top of my head. The Thor and Loki are also high up there, and were described in the same book as the Mad Cat, just slightly later, and lots of people have been crying about the Vulture, which isn't even available at all.

I would prefer they have some sort of options available, instead of the locked linear progression, but from a business perspective I see the wisdom in doing it this way: Put the most sought after mechs higher in the tiers to get more money. I'm horrible at making money, so I would have it be more along the lines of packages where you get to pick a mech of that weight class for that tier - every tier is alternates the weight class available, so you still have a reason to get higher packages, but once you pick all your favorites, there is little to no incentive to progress in the tiers beyond that point.

Sorry Climarb but the Mad Cat is used on more circulated battletech clan source material than any other clan mech (look at the clan promotional material that pgi is using mad cat on front and center , clan video shows shadow of mad cat). That in and off itself makes it iconic just as the Atlas is the most reconized mech of the IS the mad cat is that for the clans. That is the very reason they have it such a high tier purchase. Yes you are right PGI is here to make money but the way they are doing it is not setting well with their player base the forums are evident of that.

The basic packages aren't what caused the uproar; it was the announcement of the packages before UI2.0 and CW where released or even clarified more that caused it, with a douse of $500 gold mech vinegar poured on the wound to boot.

The Marauder and Warhammer are much more iconic than the Atlas as well, but they can't use those so they instead used the Atlas. Everyone has their favorite mech, both IS and Clan. My iconic clan mech is due to the use of it in the novels from my childhood, as opposed to artwork in a recent game like yours is, but that just proves how we all have our own visions of iconic. Regardless, I know they have a strategy behind it and hope it works out for them. I will be purchasing based upon their deadline success rate, so I just hope they hit enough to get me my "Great Death" Dire Wolf. At $10 a piece, I think the normal packages are great deals, just like the Phoenix Package was. Hopefully the Vulture gets added as a reinforcement eventually, too.

Once again I am not making the connection here Climarb you are citing nor very well circulated novels as your reason that the mad cat is not considered iconic when in all reality if you take any average battle tech fan from even the table top days the Mad Cat is the most recognized clan much. In addition to your point about the resentment concerning the clan package. I would suggest you read the Forbes article concerning this. It is quite an interesting read. Thank you though for the spirited debate and the bumps got to go back to work now.
