This will be our 5th hero assault mech. For reference, there are 5 hero heavies, 3 hero mediums, and 1 hero light.

Well yeah... PGI charges by the ton for these things (literally). So why would they not want to sell heavier mechs first?

The MW:4 intro was alright....... But........ I, still, think the GBL intro was better.

And.... Of all the assault mechs in the battle tech universe? I want a Kodiak.

AS7-D Atlas Danielle - Piloted by Wolf's Dragoons Captain Danielle Rondema, this modified Atlas carried three medium lasers in each arm, trading away the SRM rack to do so. The additional heat was dissipated by two additional heat sinks that replaced the rear-firing medium lasers. BV (2.0) = 1,976[32]

Rear-firing lasers?!? :)

In canon and TT pilots have a nearly 360 degree vision add the radar , so several mechs had rear firing lasers for defense (Quickdraw comes to mind and Archer as examples)

In Mw:O for the sake of simplification and balance any rear firing laser is count as frontal .

Almost has to be Tuesday. That would follow the normal pattern.

Just remember that you need to shell out 7500MC for it. Have fun!

And that theres no loyalty bonus on it like the Phoenix mechs have. So you end up paying double the cost for a mech with half the bonus features.

I've already got the Phoenix mechs....this is just a wonderful bonus to add to the stable.

If nothing else, it will be amusing for a week or two following it's release to see the battlefield flooded with Atlases. It will be a brawl fest by necessity.

If you built it (Atlai), they (LRM boats) will come.

might want this argument to be accurate before pinning your hope on it.

OK, let's see, $200 bucks, oh and btw, it's a BETA (ending the argument that "if you can spend real money it's not a bETA)
(more on the model here: http://www.rockpaper...ks-neverwinter/)
or the American M60 in WOT, as 22,500 gold being about 95 USD.
http://wiki.worldoft...m/Premium_Tanks

the thing is though, Perfect World's Zen currency can actually be gotten for free by playing other games and taking advantage of the economy at certain times.

Star Trek Online events give "Dilithium",Which can be converted into Premium Currency (or Zen), which is stored onto the players account to use in different games like NWN.

Perfect World's plan of "Time vs. Money" is pretty ingenious if you ask me. Letting players play other games to get further with one.

-I wonder what would happen in Mechwarrior Online and Mechwarrior Tactics linked up?

you can do some of that same thing inside Neverwinter itself - without visiting other PerfectWorld games.

they let you create astral diamonds ingame - which can be exchanged for the zen (real world currency) in the auction exchange, and then there you go.

I forget if its transferrable outside of that game/account/character but the point is there you can generate the equivalent of MC thru game actions. slowly, sure. but you can do it.

Would it surprise you to know I run an XL in my Atlas?

Of course I run x2 ER larges, Gauss, LRM20, x2 SRM6's and just sit back and play it chill sniping until i'm needed.

And when i'm needed it's either clean up or Alamo time.

That's one of my dirty little secrets as well...I ran my -D with an XL that very first grind-a-thon Tournament and placed ~13th IIRC...Was a very fun build. While never should an XL Atlas be recommended....experienced Atlas pilots can certainly have a blast playing them. Unlike newb reasons..Moar Firepower!!!!...It's all about the mobility. Nothing freaks out an opponent more than an atlas chasing you down :)

An XL in an Atlas is suicide...

Well of course it is....whether or not that 'suicide' gets 4 kills, obnoxious damage numbers, and a slew of assists is totally dependant on pilot skill.

I would have no qualms on running this with a 400XL as my 'fun' Atlas build....too bad It's priced higher than my angst.

Boar's Head: (Fun Pugging Build Only)
400XL
Endo
17DHS
Gauss (Yes, Gauss and and an XL ^_^ Pug Dangerously my Friends  )
3 tons Gauss ammo (30 shots)
Artemis LRM20
2 tons ALRM ammo (18 volleys)
6x Medium Lasers

Perfect Pugging Strategy...Support with ALRMs and Gauss while everyone fiddle-fu#$s there way around....Brawl with 30 point ML Alphas and a 15 point Gauss (I have zero issues with the charge mechanic, although the DPS hit blows chunks)...Excellent mobility to keep up with the normal fiasco of ditching the slow assaults....I'd run it

Atlas: 6 ML's bra-strapped to your torso, one ML in your right hand a a tiny cannon in your left? You're adorable.
