We do need a way to make the acquisition of mech factories meaningful, but I don't think R&R is the way to do it (since we're unlikely to see R&R again, and I wouldn't be happy if we did see it). Perhaps just putting a "tax" on your winnings if you pilot a mech not produced by your faction? This way there is some incentive to control production sites but it's not extremely punishing if you don't.

I think the tax, for example a 5% decrease in cbills per match, for black market mechs gives the proper incentive for taking and holding certain factory planets for players that already own that mech. In the long run that tax will matter more than any discount on the purchase price of the mech because it applies every time you play that mech.

To prevent people from jumping factions, if a faction can produce a mech it can produce all variants of that chassis even though lore wise a variant was specific to a faction. Otherwise people would jump factions to grind out variants their house did not control.

Millions of dollars and two years of development have yielded a power point presentation. I'd facepalm but I'm afraid I'd do it so hard I'd damage something and get hired by pgi.

unless i lost this part among the wallsl of text, why would i pay someone to kill someone else in one single match?

Imagine one person is for whatever reason really angry at Paul. He chips in 10,000 CBills for someone to kill him. 10,000 CBills may not be much incentive, but then he ticks off some other guy who also puts up 10,000 CBills, and then another and then another, and before you know it the first person to wreck Paul's ride gets an extra million CBills.

It is sort of a notoriety thing. Who can run up the highest bounty or go the longest without someone claiming it. The higher the bounty, the more bounty hunters are going to focus on you. It could even change the battlefield objectives on a personal level (Should I hunt down this guy that has a 5 million CBill bounty, or do as my lance commander says and hold my position and risk someone else getting it?)

At least 12. Seriously I think some of those images are right out of the October 2012 PCGamer article.

Greetings all,

The presentation from Bryan was nice but the problem I have is it was a "flash" presentation and included not a single item of actual pre content from within the engine. Now yes I understand there is a new engine and DX11 on the way, but PGI must be working with the material now (in the design stages) to be able to "concept out" the idea's.

Why did we not see any graphical real content? (Mech lab doesn't count as we have see that earlier.) Even if the Real content was declared "design stage and will most likely change". The info Bryan released I see similar to what would be presented at a board meeting for investors and not assets that are being currently worked on.

The term "Where's the Beef" come's to mind.

Again, I like the direction PGI has stated they want to go with the universe, materials and the depth of strategy they will be placing the players in. But where are the design layups for some of these directions? (can we see some in-game design content, even pre Alfa, just to be able to say "yes I see where your going") Keeping us in the information loop is nice and all, but in engine screen shots and images go a lot further.
[and builds up the Trust component for the player and testers base.]

Thank you for the game and Information on where your planning to go. Lets get the testing going in the Public test server.

Their vision is good. Let's see if they can implement it it effectively.

bounty prices sound fun ;p

but it would be great if implemented correctly
worried about lack of maps though

3,000 planets and only less than 15 maps is gonna be tough

It's a shame the game will collapse under the weight of all the empty promises before any of this actually makes it to production servers :D

Not really because that implies they are even slower at implementation than we may have thought. If this thing has been actively in development that long and has only made it this far then that causes me to remain skeptical

"Clantech Coming Within Six Months After Launch" Started by benth, Apr 16 2013 07:58 PM http://www.warcry.co...After-Release.2 "One thing that was mentioned a lot back when MWO was first announced was the timeline advancing to the lore event of a group of Clans invading the Inner sphere worlds. The mechs employed by these new factions are more advanced in technology,so Ekman and his team are planning for their introduction to fall after MWO launches."the clan warfare's going to come out after launch. It's going to roll out within the first two to three quarters after launch and it'll start with some basic content and then the players will be able to join the clans and then they'll be able to buy clan tech,"he said."We're not sure on the full details yet because we're just focused on launch right now but it will happen probably within the first six months of launch."So April and its now the end of Sept beginning of Oct what is new about what was presented at the launch party?

What really effing bothers me about the whole thing is that they had an example without all the factions. He blamed it on some new guy while his gameplay balance person was playing on his phone playing "tetris". Heck, Russ was more concerned about something else on his phone while he was talking.
