I do not know where you can find a full list of special Mechs but I will try to provide a list from memory
(F)
Foundars, Atlas, Jenner, Catapult and Hunchback
Could only be obtained before MWO entered open beta (late 2012), like most of the letter in brackets they give a 30%
(initialy 25 for the Founders Mechs) boost to cbill earnings and come with unique cammo, the Founders Mechs also have some unique geometry, the none special varient is otherwise identical.
(C) Champion Mechs, have a 30% xp earnings boost, and are pre-upgraded to a loadout voted on by players, otherwise identical to standard varients, they exist for most Mechs and are usualy introduced about 6 months after the Base chassis
they can be purchased in the ingame store for MC, in the
gift store for real money, as part of Mastery Bundles (the hero, champion and 1 regular varient of the chassis) from ether the game or gift store and can sometimes be won as part of events.
(P) denotes the special varients from the
Project Phoenix pack and the Sabre reinforcements, we're onsale from mid 2013 to early 2014, cannot be obtained at current and it is highly unlikely the pack will ever go back on sale, like Founders the Mechs have a 30% cbill boost, unique geo, and special cammo, Mechs included the Locust, Shadow Hawk, Griffin, Wolverine, Thunderbolt and Battlemaster
(I) indicates Clan Invasion Mech special varients from the Clans pack and the Clan wave 2 and 3 packs, all those are still on sale and include:
From
the Clans pack, Kit Fox, Nova, Summoner, Dire Wolf, Adder, Stormcrow, Timber Wolf and Warhawk
If you buy the top levels of both Clans and wave 2 you get the Mad Dog
Wave 2 includes Myst Lynx, Ice Ferett, Helbringer and Gargoyle
Wave 3 includes the Arctic Cheetah, Shadow Cat, Ebon Jaguar, and
I cannot remember the name of the assualt the Executioner
All those Mechs have a 30% cbill boost, unique patterns and some have unique geo
(L) special variants from the loyalty reward program, this has run every year since 2014, I think in october, and depending on if you have met the critera you get the Mechs, you cannot get the L varients if you miss the window
2014 included the CN9-AH, AS7-S and a varient of the King Crab
I cannot remember the full lists for 15-16, I will update when I get home

(R ) indicates special varients from resistance packs, as with most of the others they have the cbill boost, and unique cammo
Resistance included the Panther, enforcer, Grasshopper and Zeus
Resistance 2 included Wolfhound, Crab, Black Knight and Mauler
(O)The last of the "big" packs is the
Clan Origons IIC pack, special varients again have cbill boost and cammo, Mechs in the pack are Jenner IIC, Hunchback IIC, Orion IIC, Highlander IIC
(S) is where things start getting confusing, origionaly it was
Sarah's Jenner, Sarah was a young (primary school aged) Mechwarrior who died of cancer, PGI released essentialy a champion version of her favorate loadout for the Jenner, along with a special cammo, it was on sale for a limited time and all proceeds went to a cancer charity
The Mechs from the
Steam Performance Packs also have the (s) surfix but have a cbill boost instead of XP
The Mechs from "collectors editions" (pay $20 extra for more cockpit items, an extra months premium time and a duplicate of one of the regular varients with a cbill boost) of the
single chassis Mech packs which is how all new Mechs from the past year have been released also have the (S) surfix
All the packs with the exception of Founders, Phoenix, Loyalty and the steam packs can be purchased from the store link along the top of the screen, I
will add links later have added links for each individual pack, or where to look for more information
And finaly there is the Hero Mechs, new varients on a chassis with unique hardpoints, unique pattern and a 30% cbill boost
Heroes can be purchased with a 1 chassis pack, from the webstore or with MC from the ingame store, or from the
gift store for real money
