login to this website and go to your "profile", then go to "content", select from available content,
for each faction content you get 3 colours and 3 cockpit items which can be used with any Mech
also the faction cammo unlocked, but only for the chassis you purchased with the pack.
I strongly advise taking 1 of each, as all you get if you pick 1 faction twice is duplicate cockpit items.

Air Strikes drop a line of bombs starting at the point you drop smoke going away from your Mech
Artillery Strikes drop a cluster of shells centered on the point you drop smoke
air strike is more accurate and more useful if the enemy are lined up, artillery is more useful of the enemy are clustered tightly together
smoke drops on your arm o recticule
Artillery strike also takes a lot longer to finish, so it will provide better distraction when for example pushing in to brawl, even if the actual damage output may remain lower because fewer shells will hit the targets.

In the game itself, go to the faction battle tab. You can select your faction loyalties from there.
Edit, and yes. You need to choose a faction.

yes you do need a faction to complete in the Battle of Tukayyid,
to join a faction go tho the faction play tab and choose a faction there, do not pledge loyalty or take a permanent contract as that will permanently take a contract with a faction, it can be broken but costs something like 1.5 million cbills to break, where as the other terms automatically end after 1 week, 2 weeks or 4 weeks.
what Mechs you own should affect your decision, if most of your Mechs have locked engines then choose a Clan, if most of your Mechs do not have locked engines then chose a house or the Free Rasslehague Republic

Rogue Jedi, I assume "locked engines" simply mean you can't switch them out--for example, changing from STD265 to XL280 or something?
Is there any way to see the 'Mech type ratios on individual factions? I have 3 Light 'Mechs and 1 Heavy right now, so I'd like to side with a faction to which I'd be most beneficial.
Thanks again!

that is correct, none of the current Clan Mechs can change engine size or type (this changes when they get the IIC Mechs and there first Battlemechs on the 15th of December), while all current Inner Sphere Mechs can (there is no ETA on IS Omnimechs)
both factions have a good mix of Mech types, which Mechs do you have, names or model numbers will do, then I can tell you which are Clan and which are IS.
it does not matter which faction you choose, 160 tonnes is the minimum dropdeck you can build so depending on which Lights and weather all the Mechs belong to one side will decide weather you will need to use Trial Mechs.
these are the Clan Mechs
light = Myst Linx, Kit Fox, Arctic Cheetah, Adder,
Medium = Ice Feret, Shadow Cat, Nova, Stormcrow
Heavy = Mad Dog, Helbringer, Ebon Jaguar, Summoner, Timber Wolf,
Assault = Gargoyle, Warhawk, Executioner, Dire Wolf
if your Mechs are not listed above they are IS

minimum 160 to 240 maximum, sometimes the IS have an extra 10 tonnes taking there upper limit to 250, I am not sure if that is currently in force as I almost never use my full drop weight due to my preference for Lights and Mediums
hopefully someone knows if IS currently has 240 or 250 and will let us know
edit ninjad, thanks Scifi Toughguy for answering my question before I asked it

I'm going to presume that you are talking about the upcoming event.
Some of them, yes. Others no.
The personal rewards you can earn without being part of a unit.
The "best faction" reward you can also earn without being part of a unit, if your faction earns it together.
The best 1-3 unit per faction though are rewards you can only earn by being in a unit.
Do remember that you must play at least 5 qualifying matches to be able to earn any of the faction and participation rewards.

if you are after general stats for everyone then I do not think so
if you are after your own stats, on this website
go to your profile,
stats,
Mech stats.

My friend just want to step back from buying resistance II because you made it invalid drop...
Raise the clan drop to 250 tonns if you have to change something.

this is just players trying to help other players, we have no influence on the development of the game,
if you want to request a change I suggest posting in developer outreach or feature suggestions

Resistance II does come with more than one of each weight class. You can make a valid drop deck using a Mauler, a Black Knight and 2 Wolfhounds, for example. Or there are many other combinations with other mechs your friend may own.
