do you play full screen or windowed, if you play full screen it should save to the %userprofile%\saved games\mechwarrior online\screenshots folder, however if you play windowed that will not work because Windows print screen to the clipboard functionality takes over, I think some people have mentioned using f12 to take a screenshot however I have never tried that myself

Nice to know. Posted Image
I always play full screen, so I didn't know this.

Left hand side near the very top "SELECT MECH"

There are several filters on the next screen that are very useful once you own several mechs, but to start just make sure that "ALL" is selected everywhere there is an option.

Find a mech that you think you might like. The trail mechs should have 2 Clan and 2 IS (Inner Sphere) for each weight class (Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault). Once you select a mech, hit HOME at the top and then at the top right press QUICK PLAY.

If you are this new to the game I STRONGLY suggest going to the tutorial link on the left hand side (about half way down) first. It will cover the basic controls in the game, and give you a few simple challenges to earn some starting C-Bills (in game currency) and and experience with.

As a follow up to Lady's advice... as you accumulate the cbills from your first 25 matches and academy training (you get a sizable bonus during that time) I strongly recommend you do not spend it until you've gotten a decent feel for mechs, weights, play styles, etc. By that point you should have somewhere around the 18 - 20 million cbill mark... at that point you can start thinking about that first wonderful shopping trip.

Just my advice. Posted Image

I just started MWO a few days ago and got in a good number of matches with some friends of mine. Quick question. I've played a few matches where a player on my team spends the whole match calling out coordinates. I assumed it was locations of enemy or where he was firing. However it sounded rather mechanic. "Firing Juliet, Firing Hotel, Firing Foxtrot." Eventually we just asked him to stop because nobody understood what to do with that information and he was hogging the traffic. What are these individuals doing? Just so I may understand.

These NATO target designations. Most people in MWO are very familiar with them.

Basically as your team runs into enemy mechs, they get automatic designations. From [A] to [ZZ].

So When someone says "Firing on Juliet"

It means they are firing on the enemy mech with a big [J] over it.

https://en.wikipedia...onetic_alphabet

When playing in group queue we (drop callers) prioritize targets for our teammates to focus on.

So when I tell my guys Delta Priority, Alpha Secondary, Hotel Tertiary.

That means If they have line of sight, and a firing solution on those mechs, they should kill/disable the one with [D] first. After that, they should hit [A], then [H].

That's it, i use a full window. Just learned something.
I'll try F12 (Edit : doesn't work. only Steam?).

Thanks Rogue Jedi.

Is there a place to report griefers? Just had a moron blast my back, and a bit later he proceded to kill a team mate.

If you click (don't remember if it's right or left) on their name after the match you can report them to PGI. I think there is an option for team killing.

Also, FYI, listing someone by name for wrongdoing or shaming them in the forums in against the code of conduct. It's better to just report them in game.

You can press TAB to bring up the player list during the match and block or report players as well instead of having to wait until the end of the match.

Removed the name but I am certain killing your team mates is even more so against that code. It's bad enough when people weaken your team by idling or disconnecting, but actively damaging you has to be worth of notice and deserves appropriate action. It certainly doesn't do much for my enjoyment of the game and I am a paying customer. There really ought to be another option: the in-game report is a bit of a joke as it only allows you 3 or so reports per day when you have a disconnect or AFK in every other game. Completely insufficient if you play more than 1 or 2 games a day. I hope there aren't many griefers around, while I have seen a fair amount of friendly fire this is the first time there was no doubt it was intentional.

I wonder, does BLOCKING prevent you from getting grouped with them again?

Highly unlikly. I cannot imagin, that the MM tries to get this into consideration. The Matchmaker uses as few variables as possible and "blocked player exclude" should be a nice to have, nothing more =)

I believe blocking is just from chat or comms

I wouldn't bother reporting AFKs. There are many reasons a player might be AFK. Farming is probably not one of them since the payout is low or zero. Save reports for the important stuff.

the ingame reports are limited to 5 reports a day.
there is an alternate way to send a report, send an email containing as much information as possible to moderation@mwomercs.com,

useful information includes:
time of the match (including your time zone), the map the match took place on, a screenshot/recording of the offensive incident, name of the player you are reporting, reason for the report.
to take a screenshot press "print screen", that should put a screenshot in
%userprofile%\saved games\mechwarrior online\screenshots
if you just copy and paste the above line into Windows Explorer (where you find your files/music/pictures) it should take you straight to the correct folder.

Is there any difference in payout between spectating until a game ends and quitting once you are dead?

You might/should gain more XP and Cbills for sticking around. If you leave as soon as you die you will only gain bonuses for kill assists up to that point. Also, you won't get bonuses for winning if that's the case. If, however you stick around, you will gain the bonuses for kill assists if any enemies that you damaged but who were alive when you died were later killed in game.

However, you also need to take into account the possibility of earing xp and c-bills a little sooner if you leave the match early and begin another drop. Generally, if your team is winning and it's close to the end of the match, you may as well stick around.

Also, by sticking around and spectating you can provide intel that the guy you're spectating may not notice, such as an enemy that appears behind him on the minimap. I also will call out target locations and offer advice while spectating, such as (Pilot Name) you need to press R for your lrms to have a greater chance of hitting. (I figure if I can keep it civil, maybe I can help a new player.)

Yup, F12 is Steam Overlay's hotkey to take a screenshot. Those get saved to Steam's screenshot directory and can be viewed/uploaded directly via Steam.

By the way, if you ever miss out on reporting someone, e-mail moderation@mwomercs.com with the following information:

1- Date and time when match ended (9:47 PM PDT 4/21/2016, for example)
2- Which map and game mode (Conquest: Alpine Peaks)
3- Names of players involved, and what happened.
4- Any screen shots you may have taken.

Aside from the increased range and reduced facetime (assuming you can actually aim quickly instead of doing what I do and need half an hour to line up a shot on a stationary assault), are there any benefits to clan ERPPCs over clan large pulse lasers? Trying to decide what to put on my new TBR-D
