Well, you buy SP with XP or GXP and CBills. That's about it. You can also transfer XP to GXP for MC, but that's not worthwhile 99% of all cases.

Thanks Aiden ... that part I figured out, now that I have all the SP I need (and I think you said 91 is max) are these XP (or GXP) good for anything else?

Well, XP can only be used on the specific mech they were earned on. So you could use them for a respec if you find your skilltree build suboptimal. As I said earlier, you can exchange XP for GXP, but it's mostly not worth the MC costs.
That is all there is to XP.

No. Keeping in mind, however, that sometimes you might want to change your skill tree - either to match a different build or to better optimize for the current one. In the process, you'll probably end up with 10-20 node unlocks beyond those 91.

Thanks Horseman, yes I already played with that ... I was thinking that the XP/GXP may have an impact on the 'Tier' system in which pilots are ranked/rated.
Now I know that I just suck :) and need to become the better pilot in order to climb the ranks and that the XP or GXP have no impact on that :)

Again, thank you all that have posted answers! It is much appreciated.

An installed MWO could be ported?
Sorry if I used the wrong term so I think it is better if I explain:
I installed MWO to an SSD what I could transform into an outer drive easily. If I make that and go to holiday for foreign relative could I use my installed MWO on their PCs or need to install the game on those?

You would need to install the game on their system as well, yes. And since the installer is a bundled download, it likely would not save you downloading the bazillibytes of files to install either.

Well, if you're a little creative, maybe. It definitely isn't designed to be used this way.

On any Windows computer, you do need to install the game. This process might interact with the Operating System in specific ways--registry keys, prerequisite files or libraries. Things like that. Now, what you might be able to do is interrupt the installation, or have the files in the proper folders beforehand, so it skips the download steps. You'd have to rely on the Standalone Installer, not Steam, and maybe use the Repair Tool built into the standalone installer. But I don't know if this will work or what specific steps you may need to take to get it to work. It's along the same idea as the manual patch download and install steps. I'd say it's not worth it to fiddle with an unproven method, and it's definitely not a supported way to do this. What you may want to copy for another computer is this directory: C:\Users\<YOURUSERACCOUNT>\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\Profiles. Inside are your key bindings, weapon groups for mechs, and other preferences. Paste a copy of that after installation (might need to run the game once first too).

Interrupting download, copying files and using the Repair Tool does work.

... and another pesky question.
I was playing a faction game (a most enjoyable one to boot) and my system locked up like a brick. That sometimes happens when it is really hot in the room .. which it is right now. That happened before in a 'Quick Play' match and I just reset and then was able to get right back into the game. That was not the case with the Faction match .. instead I received a 'Penalty' prompt ... here is the question ... what 'Penalties' are that .. and can that be contested/explained?

You can reconnect to faction play matches by being careful with what part of the launch button you activate. If you have been away from a game for several minutes, there will be a penalty delaying your joining of a further game, but those aren't very serious unless or until you accumulate more over a single play session.

I see .. I never back out of a fight! .. the equipment however thinks different some times!!
Thank you for the info .. it may have been because the game was very close to the end

You have up to 4 minutes to reconnect which still might not be long enough if your system has to reboot but is better than the 2 minutes it used to be. Of course, you may very well be dead by time you can rejoin. The penalty for one DC is only 5 seconds. It stacks after that though, and it's not just a penalty system for DC'ing, but for teamkilling or dealing lots of team damage, and iirc suiciding. I think after 3 penalties within the penalty time window (I don't recall what that is), it starts getting serious.

Thanks JZ, my system reboots very quickly ... so that should be no problem.
I do have one additional question, are there any penalties if I reconnect successfully?
The reason I am asking is, every so often I forget to plug in my controller .. then I have to quit the game plug it in and restart the game ... easily under 2 minutes ... otherwise the controller will not work. I have never (so far) gotten a penalty waring about that.. can I assume I get a 'pass' for that?

And thank you all for answering my never ending questions so patiently :)

If you reconnect within the time limit, no penalties.

Just be sure to rejoin the same match! It's possible to select a different mech and click Launch or whatever the green button is now.

Thanks JZ ... but if I have to drop out because of my controller I will rejoin exactly as I started in the first place ... I don't want to gain an advantage ... just being able to move without having to use the keyboard controls ... I am not very good on a keyboard ( .. well I am not that good with a game controller either, just a little :) )

Once again I appreciate the thoughtful and helpful replies !

Hi, my time zone is UTC+10 (GMT+10), so I'm interested in what time or what days of the week people usually play on the American server in Faction match? When is the highest online and when are the teams recruited the fastest?

Peak times for North American servers are 18:00 to 02:00, GMT -4, most days of the week. So in your time zone, thats 08:00 to 16:00.

More questions Posted Image .. is there a schedule somewhere where the faction Play Clan/Inner Sphere Faction battle scenarios are listed .. in other words when what Faction plays?
