No reason, u can Jump sides like u want (and can mostly play fp no matter what faction u are in). No penalty. Only reason not to change factions is if u want to go for hero of faction x, but grinding multiple factions first is better.

Good idea .. but not really me ... I like to stick with the Clan I always stuck with .. so it just will take longer to move up in ranks .. all part of the fun

Sounds like you really like Faction Play!

Hmm... so you seem to like fast light/medium mechs, and like Faction Play (FP)!

In chase you search for older MWO FP forum postings (as I did), please be aware that:

a) You can now switch allegiances between different Houses/Clans with no penalty anymore!
Hint: low hanging fruit: you can grind for "14 free mechbays" given out for reaching Rank 2 Achievements in each of the House/Clans!
(There are even more freebies doled out, but takes a lot more time to achieve these).

b ) As there are no Scouting Missions anymore, please do not buy any additional Scouting Drop Decks!
(I myself almost did just that.)

c) There is that rare sale for Drop Decks on average once-a-year or so.

Thanks for that great info .. and thank you for the mention of the 'No Scouting Missions' I was not aware of that.

... and that brings me yet to another question, is there something like 'Cold Storage'? In other words can I own more mechs than I have mechbays and then switch them out if need should arise?

There isn't. For all intents and purposes, your mechbays are the cold storage in this game.

Said mech purchases do not come with their own mechbays. Tis why when there is a 50% off mechbay sale, best to pick up several.

If purchased from the website store, yes, I think they all include mechbays (right)? Should be in the fine print. If you buy them from the in-game store, no. Otherwise, you could get into a situation where you buy something on the site, but don't have an available mechbay. When buying in-game, the logic would check if you first have a free mechbay.

1. Any mechs bought from external website stores (MWO Store or Steam website store) would come with its own mechbay included, since you've bought it with real money.

2. Any free mechs grinded from MWO Event also comes with its own mechbay also!

3. Any mechs bought with MWO ingame currency (directly bought with MC or CBills) via MWO game client ingame-store does not come with its own mechbay. That's just the way things are done in this game over the years.

4. Did you know that you can grind for 14 free mechbay by achieving Rank 2 in each of Faction Play House/Clan reputation?

5. You can sell your unwanted standard variant mechs if you really wish to, but I personally do not recommend this, especially in view of major monthly MWO/Cauldron patch changes coming in regularly!

6. There's a Buy-MC sale that gifts 500 GSP + 15 mechbay until early Sept 2021, which I personally feel is a great package especially for newer players or returning players!

Thanks w0qj ... I have figured that faction play/rank option ... but because I am a creature of habit I will stick by the Wolf and I already got that mechbay ... I will get another when I rank up .... hmmm .. I think 2 more times. I have also met all the monthly Mech challenges/events and got a couple Mechbays from there and sold off the Mechs because they are IS Mechs and I don't have any use for them

Once again ... hoping I don't sound like a broken record (old fashioned audio storage device, for the younger players ) ... thank you for your answers to my endless questions !!!

I'm trying to get some more mech bays through the faction play. I've just gained rank 2 with the House Davion, but I didn't get the rewards (neither the C-bills nor the mech bay). Are there other conditions that I have to meet to get the rewards?

Once you've achieved Rank 2 Reputation at House Davion (for example), you should automatically receive your free Mechbay, usually once you exit the Faction Play game that you've just finished. If that does not work, try logging out of MWO (or close MWO game client program itself), and log in again!

Also, just to make sure we are on the same page, please double-check that you really did achieve Rank 2 Reputation at House Davion, by:
[Faction_Play]>>[Faction_Reputation]>>[House_Davion]
~And for Davion Rank 2, it should show "100%".

Yep, rank 1 & 2 are at 100% (I have total of 2178 rep with the House). I did relog, restart my pc and so on.. still no joy. I'll try to gain some more rep for the current house - if it's indeed automatic then maybe it will sort itself out at the end of another faction fight.

And yet another question .. didn't you figure? ... I see this '2021 Championship Series' and (although I suck) I would love to give it a whirl ... I understand you need 8 people .. so can one go and create a unit for that ... or does one have to join an existing unit? Is there a write-up about that somewhere? I tried to search for it, but ended up more confused than before

... oh and a follow-up to that .. hypothetically speaking ... if somebody joined a unit and then realizes that that may not have been the one to join .. how do you 'un-join' such a unit .. hypothetically
