More generally, any time you see a 'mech variant with "(LETTER)" after it - for example, "(P)," or "(S)" - those are simply special versions. They may have different colors or geometry than the standard types, but they are totally identical to the normal variants, just like the Roughneck above.

Because PPCs are grouped with gauss when I comes to ghost heat. PPC HSLs typically allows to do gauss+PPc combos.

So it's an additional change that I missed in the patch notes somewhere between now and September 2021?

Edit: Yay for poorly written patch notes! My test bed in another King Crab went from 34% heat with just the ERPPCs to total shutdown when paired with two Gauss Rifles. Thanks, guys!

This is kinda stupid, since you can't fire more than two at the same time...
But to answer your "question", when different weapons from the same HSL group are paired, the HSL limit is the lowest of all. For example, ERPPC's HSL is 2, so you can't shoot 2 gauss + 1 ERPPC without ghost heat (pretty inintuitive, I know). But since standard PPC HSL is 3, you can safely fire 2 gauss + 1 PPC.
Another classic example is when firing SRMs or MRMs together with rockets, especially RL20: it's the rocket HSL that apply, so beware.

What counts as a "hit" when it comes to cluster weapons like LBX autocannons and missile launchers? Does a single projectile hitting count as a hit or is each projectile tracked individually?

I believe it would count lbx as one shot and as long as one pellet hit, it counts as a hit. Same for lasers--if you only graze a target, it should count as a hit. I am not sure if it counts if you hit but the weapon does no damage, like out of range.

I think so too.
But I'm not sure about how missile volleys are counted. I suspect each missile is counted separately.

I don't think missiles are individual. How could I have fired 1566 missiles if it must be multiples of 10? It must be times it fired. LRM 10 + ARTEMIS 3 1,566
On the other hand, that was only 3 matches. It must have been an LRM boat to have fired 500 times a match but that still sounds too high.
Yeah, not sure why it's not divisible by 10, but that number must be missiles.
Oh, you know what? I bet I died while firing so it wasn't a full volley. That would explain it.
