no quad core for me ;) here is what i will be working with as I just found out I can not upgrade my core to a quad :( Please tell me if this will work? Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E5700 @ 3.00GHz 8.0 GB RAM Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit GeForce GT 440 Video Card NVIDIA High Definition Audio (will be upgrading farther) 400 GB free space.

You should be fine

Like we said Duo core is our min spec but it does need some optimizations so that it runs better.

I know it may sound like a lot and other products dont need as much horsepower but we are using CryEngine and the rewards in game are pretty great.

And let's face it that already represents a 5 year old machine.

But again...lots of optimizations to come, I am quite confident that the performance level of the Duo Core will improve alot in the coming months.

A question that would be nice to have answered on (or before) June 17th is whether we can purchase and gift founder's packages? I would love to get one for myself, another for my brother (who recently graduated HS - want to get him into the game before he has to go to college!) and maybe even some friends of mine - I need to get them off their WoW habits... onto another game ;)

WOW Russ, Thank you for being so personal with all of this. So awesome to see this level of attention in a game. :(

As for Gifts, I know that League of Legends would make extra money if you could gift Champions and Skins to other players... They don't allow it, but if they did, it would be extra revenue they currently don't get.

Lesson to learn from maybe? ;)

Yeap. Expected it; this crunky old piece of junk laptop (hp dv 9000) I'm stuck with probably won't even bring up the loading screen.

That's life for you.

Developers, It would be appreciated if you gave people an option of deleting their beta profiles (you know, personal info?) if their comps don't meet minimum spec... and yes, this is a formal request that my beta profile be deleted.

Thank you sir. I guess il just go with what I got and in about 3 to 4 months once I have the extra cash, ill just get a new GAMING RIG ;) I was looking for a good reason to get a top end rig anyway. Thank you for answering all the questions you can.

People asking about Gifting the founders packs.

We are working on a gifting system but it may not be available on June 19th but soon after.

Just updated the Min spec to be Windows XP 32 Bit SP3

@Synra
1. Your friend breaking NDA? Cool.

No, actually. What I said was that he has had the chance to try the beta. He is neither in the beta nor breaking the NDA. To be specific, he knows some other person who is in the beta, who is breaking the NDA and letting him play it a bit. And even then my friend hasn't told me much other than three things. 1, that he has played it. 2, that it's better than all the previous mechwarrior games. 3, they need to add a lot more mechs than the 10 or so they have announced so far.

Quote

2. There will be ~40ish mechs when open beta comes around

No, there will be about 10 mechs with ~40ish total varients. Honestly, that's not good enough. You will get tired of seeing the same few mechs in every battle. I remember the old battletech mech books. There are TONs of mechs to choose from in the 3049 time period. I realize the devs are on time constraints, but still... only 10 mechs at launch? Again, I really hope they make every effort to get new mechs into the game quickly.

Quote

3. No they really aren't... The minimum specs are from a computer which was good ~5 years ago. I know that because I had one of those computers. E4400 + 8800GT, in 2007. You can buy that "recommended pc" for $300 today.

In terms of the ATI cards, those 'minimum spec' cards were only released less than 3 years ago. Those specs would have made for a very high end PC 5 years ago. And no, you aren't building the 'recommended' pc for only $300, that's absurd. But that's not my point here anyway. My point is that this is a free game. You will not need to buy a box, nor pay a monthly fee for it. But you may have to spend a few hundred dollars in upgrades if you want to play it. Kind of an ironic catch-22.

Quote

4. We will all know what's EXACTLY in it on Tuesday.
a) "$80 in-game money" = What you'd get for $80 when the game has launched. Atlas wont cost real money, it will cost c-bills which you get through playing the game.
;) We'll know more on Tuesday.
c) Yes, they've already said that after the Operation: Inception(When Founder's Packages get to play) There will be no wipes after that, meaning you wont loose the stuff you've used actual money(founder's package money) to purchase.

Thanks for the clarification on a few points, but I still have absolutely zero clue as to how valuable $80 is. The 'cash store' may not even feature anything I want. None of us want to see 'pay-to-win' type purchases, but at the same time I put very little value on cosmetic junk. I have no interest in paying $5 to put a giant baseball cap on my Atlas.

Okay, I have a question. My husband and I are both chomping at the bits to play this game. Sadly, I use a laptop, which means my ability to upgrade my gpu (the only part that needs upgrading for this game) is nil. In light of that, I got my husband a new gpu a while back so that he could play when open beta happens.

Here is my question:

When open beta happens, can I log in on his computer under my ID to play the game until I can build myself a decent gaming rig, or will that be a massive no-no?

Thanks!

Absolutely you could use the same computer. You'd just have two different logins.

From the screenshots we have seen of the MechLab, there appear to be two prices listed. I am guessing based on that, and some subtle dev hints, that any in-game items are likely purchasable either via CBills earned or some sort of credits purchased with real money. As long as everything comes *both* ways it won't be 'pay2win'. As such, I am expecting that I will find plenty to spend my $80 in-game credit on, even though I too dislike putting fancy cosmetics on my mechs.

Im sure Russ needed a break... thank you Garth for stepping in on this. On behalf of ALL of us here that are eager to get into Beta and beyond I (we thank you ALL). And I do apologize for all the questions. But im sure you can understand just how badly we all have been waiting for this game.

It does represent a 5 year old TOP OF THE LINE $3000 to $4000 computer. But you have to remember we are in the middle of a recession. I myself budget myself about 100 bucks a month to gaming. Even if i up it to $125 i stll have to wait 3 months for the cash to make the upgrades. That also cuts out my budget for any console games and xbox live. So i would be down to MWO and MWO online only. Being a huge BT still doesnt justify all this for one game. And as i say i do wish the game all the luck in the world but i hope you didnt sacrifice avaiiiblity for average pc gamers for better graphics.

This has been probably the most informative thread ever, glad to see the fast responses, really love it!

I'm really hoping to see some bonus options available in the founders pack or the option to buy multiple founders mechs. For each person you read talking about how they "dont want to spend their hard earned money" because of random silly things, there's another dozen of us itching to throw cash at you guys for whatever it is you make available.

Please give us more ways we can throw money at you. Even aesthetic things.. doesn't have to effect game-play.

Take my monies please!!!!!!! ;)

Thanks for the information. I am not an online gamer, but I will be supporting this game by purchasing the Founder's Package. Hopefully some single-player campaign goodness will be developed, as I enjoyed those campaigns from Mechwarrior 2, 3 and 4.
