The first Mechwarrior was my first Battletech game. Around the time Mech 2 came out I had picked up the board game and read though a number of the books.

Always been one of the die-tossers, but my first BT comp game was Inception, on a PCjr. :)

I had some seat time with MW1, but that was someone elses copy, and by the time I could get my own (the MegaHits package, no less), I'd have had to gotten the hang of DOSBox, 'cause MW1 didn't run properly on a 486/33. :D

Was 9 When I had a Mauler as a toy. I just thought it was a big cool robot toy to shoot stuff with. Had alot of fun with it, but all I knew about it was that it was called Battletech. Anywho. Some years later when I was 13 my mother and I went to my grandmothers after school so that they could paint ceramic models for decorating their houses (this was a daily activity after I got out of school everyday.)

I was always bored when we went over there. So my grand mother one day went out and bought some computer games for me to play when I was there. One was commander keen, the other was Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries.

Oh how I LOVED mechwarrior. In fact I BEGGED my mother to go to my grand mothers house so I could play it.

After about a year my parents bought their first home PC. (this was in the mid 90's back when hewlett packard was real big) So yeah they bought a hewlett packard so I asked my grand mother if I could borrow Mechwarrior2. She said I could have it.

Played that thing day and night for a long time until Mechwarrior 3 came out. Bought that played it for awhile too. Mechwarrior 4 came out etc etc etc

And now here I am. 28 years old. Waiting to play MW:O. :)

EDIT: OH I left out a key part of information. I first played mechwarrior when I was 8 or 9 because my friend had a super nintendo and they regularly rented Mechwarrior on their super nintendo. It was until i was 13 that I was reintroduced to Mechwarrior by my grand mother.

MPBT: Solaris on AOL... Loved it! Graphics was crappy even at that time, but the game was killer!
Stopped playing as 3025 Beta came out.

Mechwarrior 3 was my first contact with the universe.

but than i bought all 63 novels (original series) and those made me love the universe. The games are just so... tiny in comparison :)

My first contact with Battletech was the tabletop that both my parents and most of their siblings played when I was young. I learned the basic game rules as soon as I could, so I've been playing BT since I'm 8 or 9 years old.

My first game was BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception on my Dads Amiga, and I have played every Mechwarrior and MechCommander game since then (but no MechAssault).

The only Mechwarrior games that I have actually played online were MW3 and MW:LL.

I dont stand a chance against you guys. My first MW experience was when I as a 5 year kid saw MW 4: Mercenaries trailer. After 6 years I got internet and found it again, bought Vengence and downloaded Mercenaries and it was a lot of fun. I probably missed the best games in the series, but Im fine with it, atleast theres still a place for better MW game in my heart.

My first contact was in 95?!? and the demo of MW2. In the end the demo was quite different to the game, but hooked me. I also started reading the books in 95 and bought Battletech Second Edition and Citytech. Got all MW and Mechcommander Games since then and played in a German Mechwarrior League from 2001 to 2009. Fun fact: It has always been on http://www.mechwarrior-online.eu :)

My first experience was Mechcommander. I obsessed over that game for months even go so far as to play it online a lot. After that I went through the Mechwarrior games and that weird clix-esque collectible miniatures game. Now i've finally arrived at the actual battletech rpg books. Good times with mech based games that aren't those weird japanese things.

1996. Freshman in college.
Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries
Pentium 133 mhz laptop (top of the line back then!)
16mb RAM
28.8 kbps

Spent my whole first semester playing MW2:Mercs. Joined a group of guys in Clan Wolf for one of the Leagues that was around back then. Favorite Mech: Summoner, jump jets, all heat sinks and Med. Pulse lasers. :)

Max players for online play back then was 4 and there still was lag lol. You had to aim far in front of a walking mech to hit it. More lag, more you had to aim ahead. Fun times.

Aside from the genie online games I've played every battletech related game ever released. You have play battletech until you've played in CGA.

Started out by buying a game called Battledroids which became Battletech soon after.
Played all the PC games as they came out. Then the fun started got caught up in MPBT online at Genie.
Got recuited by the Minnesota Tribe and played there till they shut down.
In 1990 I heard a comerical about this place called the Battletech Center. When I went there I didnt want to leave.
Got a part time job there in 95 to help feed the addiction then made my way up to General Manager in late 96.
Saddest day was in july of 97 when VWE shut down the sites, but hope wasn't lost they came back at Dave and Busters.
Then another black day came but with a major silver lining. VWE was no longer having the pods at D&B but the pods were up for sale, so a
group of us Chicago players bought a set and it's been fun ever since.

When I was a kid... Mechwarrior came in FOUR colours, and we were glad! GLAD to march 15 minutes across a flat terrain of almost completely open battlefield with no cover, trees, or water... all that just to get sight of the enemy! I used to run around in a LOCUST because it was the fastest way to get into combat, and I'd still BLAST THAT BATTLEMASTER INTO SALVAGE! When I upgraded my 086 PC the new model had a turbo button, but if I pushed it the computer would go so fast that it'd skip a few minutes of the run into combat in a heartbeat. I had to just tap it briefly and hope I didn't exit hyper-run-space before the combat had begun! Oh and the campaign? ****** that whiny story, I'm a Merc unit now baby. I'm lighting' up the inner sphere so long in game time that the Clanners should've been rolling out of their test tubes and lining up to taste hot laser!

Ahh Mechwarrior. <3

First contact was somewhere in the early ´90s. I bought a Marodeur miniature because it looked so **** cool. Following that came the classic BT tabletop box and then it spread on to the bookseries, and all the other stuff (except Dark Age. There I draw a line. That was not the Battletech I felt in love with). The Mechwarrior 2 game was a dream come true, and it got better and better with the following games (except Mech assault).

Played Mechwarrior for SNES, then went on to Mech 2+, as well as MW: 3050 for SNES. Never got to play Crescent Hawks inception though... Would love to get the chance.
