I can't wait for it!! The Battlemaster will be my first assault and trust me, I'm glad it's going to be the Battlemaster. (even though I want my Zues  ) I have a brawler build in mind.

Big Brawl

Same, though I was thinking about a Victor, just haven't gotten around to that yet :D

I would love it if it were anything like the Battletech LBX, but as it is it's still useful for chewing on things if you're mech is quick enough and the weight saved could be useful. Not sure if I would feel 70kph to be enough, but it might be. I'm sure I'll give it a try.

For what I am using it for yes! The SRM's and LBX to sand the armor off no matter how they are positioned and the lasers to rip the internals to shreds. The LBX is awesome for hitting that weakened side torso that they are trying to protect.

In a way, I agree, But in terms of maximizing that Balistic arm... For me it would be either an LBX10 as least amount of weight for the dmg plus the crit chance OR the Gauss for range and best dmg not being an AC 20. But the rest of the mech lends itself to shorter ranges and I felt that it needed the ability to reach out and touch someone more effectively. Plus my build gets the bigger engine for a bit of a manuverabilty bonus.

I find in the heat of battle, I end up screwing up firing the Gauss Rifle, which is why I chose the LB-10X. I see what you mean though, having the Gauss Rifle is good until you get up close.

Yeah, gauss isn't easy sauce anymore and I'm not great with it myself but I figure I will give it a try. Your build is probably one of the more sensible brawler/short/med builds I have seen proposed and may have to try it out too. Plus if XLs are a good fit for battlemasters then this is all out the window anyways. Lol.

So far, the Battlemaster is rubbing me funny. It seems like its going to be a less shoddy weight class straddling mech then say the Victor is, it seems like it will be more like an Orion that is in the Assault weight class.

I never have been a fan of running XLs in something I know I will take up to the front, I have had a lot of matches in my Orions that I have survived BECAUSE I was using a STD engine.

I agree with this except for Victors. My XL's have kept me alive more than have me killed.
Battlemasters however, I don't think it is a good idea now to have them. I will try to cram the biggest standard engine in mine with still being able to do at least 45dmg total. I will strive to keep medium lasers in the torso.

I personally love the LBX too, works nicely with lights and the intimidation factor + fire rate beats the ac10 something about 20 shells at a time flying at you. Spreadsheet warriors will always argue otherwise however with my dual lbx jager I havn't yet lost out to any dual ac10, there's more to a weapon than just its stats.

AND I've tweaked the original battlemaster build, should work nicely now

I was looking at this

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...26af236c3f6bcb3

or this

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5244764c23d554e

I know the 2nd one is kind of funky... but hear me out

I plan on putting the UC5 & AC2 on the same button (which I simply hold down) you get the constant ping of the 2 with the burst of the UC5... the PPC is for long range, and the Meds are for brawling
