Best Shadowhawk Build

I have tried a similar build but used streaks. Original 2H build
I also tried it with an XL330 engine and a LPL instead and added back a half ton of armor. Tired the same build with an ERPPC instead of the LPL. I did not like those three builds as much. I did a lot of damage, but hardly ever killed anything
I will have to try it with SRM6's as you suggest. I did not think of that at the time because I was focused on a light hunter build with streaks.

Here's my SHD-2H build. Upgrades to a 280 XL because it's the same tonnage as an XL275. With speed tweak it can do 90 kph with 3 JJs. 35 point Alpha is good for blowing holes in armour AND taking out internals.

SHD-2H "Warning Shot"
it's amazingly versatile at all ranges, can hold its own against lights and assaults alike and can take a beating like nobody's business.

Tried this today. Very fun to play with. Though streaks without BAP is annoying..

agred, that's why I treat them only as a situational secondary weapon against non-ecm lights or severely damaged heavier mechs that need to be finished off asap. your main source of damage are the autocannons backed by the laser, and if you can stay in the second line and/or unnoticed, you can just pump those shells into people's backs for great justice (and lots of damage cbills).

SHD-2D2
2D2-LRM20-SSRMx3-2mL-BAP-2JJ's
I've been having a hard time using the 2D2 as a LRM boat because I really dislike using LRM's without TAG.
Wish it had one more Energy point.

I have a hard time using any Shadow Hawk as an LRM boat as it's capped at 10 missiles. Not really much point in using an LRM20 when it fires at two volleys of 10. If they gave it 20 tubes like it's supposed to have, then I'd consider it.

LRM Shadowhawks excel when they're used as close fire support in the second line rather than as long range indirect fire missile boats. So the optimal 2D2 LRM loadout is XL280 1xALRM15, 1xALRM10, 1xALRM5, TAG, BAP, JJs and armor to taste, 7 tons of ammo. Use the speed to stick near the pack and maintain LOS between 200-500m. You shouldn't need the backup weapons because you shouldn't find yourself alone. If you do, 2 MLs weren't going to do much anyway.
I've mostly been messing around with Gauss and AC20 builds on the SHD lately. Gauss+PPC was the best combination there. I found ERLLs or LLs to be too hot. MLs and SRMs weren't that great, although ditching the SRMs and taking a bigger engine made brawling interesting.
I prefer the AC20 with less ammo and an STD275 over the STD255 version. Being able to dictate range or escape to cover is important with the SHD's light armor.

It's the same reason I always bring my own TAG and BAP, you can't depend on no ECM on the opposing team, or your team to carry those items to help you.
I actually feel like the LRM20 and LRM15 are the worst of the LRM launchers due to the missile spread that occurs.
Right now, I'm running 2 ALRM10's, 2 SSRM2's, 1 MLAS and TAG. Of course BAP and Adv. Decay.
Basically I try to sit at 250m, and give them my full payload. But if I get caught inside of 180m I can still defend (especially against lights), and outside of 270m to about 600m I'm still pretty dangerous.
Last night I had two matches where I averaged about 600 damage, 3 kills and 8ish assists. And a couple decent, but nothing stellar matches.
But I still think the Shadow Hawk isn't suited to the role.

Yes, you should always carry TAG and BAP with LRMs. Not only are you unable to count on other PUGs to but there might be more than 1 ECM mech on the enemy team and a medium mech should try to secure its own locks.
Backup weapons are a different story. If you're not on your own, you can generally count on someone to cover your 6 unless there's a bigger threat. And if there's a bigger threat, you should be launching LRMs at it, not tickling lights.

try it.. 2 volleys of 10 is better than 1 volley of 10.. and it free's up 3 missile hardpoints for streaks.
It goes 97kph has 3 SSRM, 2ML, BAP!, and an LRM launcher that sends 20 missiles in 1 shot.
If the first volley doesn't make it the second will. I've tried it with 5's and 2 10's, 4 streaks etc. but the most damage was done with a single LRM20 and 3 streaks.

I'm talking the 5M, not the 2D2.

SHD-2D2
XL280
ES
DHS
BAP
3JJ
320 points standard armor
AC/10 w/ 3 tons ammo
4xSSRM2 w/ 2 tons ammo
2xML
I've tried every combination of build imaginable with this variant. ER/PPCs, LPL, LL, ERLL, SRMS, AC/5 etc. That loadout works best.
