Well, 12-men are the epitome of cheesedrops. Or at least they hold the biggest potential for cheesedrops. 12-men of all poptart highlanders? Yup, sounds just like it.

I mean something must be done to melt that cheese

Poptarting is one of the most Ineffective things you can do in a MechWarrior game.

Lol'd pretty hard at that one.

It is the strongest tactic in the game right now, by a mile.

Quote

Moral is, if the enemy is going to pop tart over high ground, take it away. Like I said in an earlier post I made here, that spot they are at gives them the advantage. Next time, take it away and make them come out of cover and they can't do it anymore.

Bingo... time to start using brains and thinking of solutions beyond coming to the forum to whine/gripe/moan.

Enemy is LRM heavy, push en masses...don't try to hide and trade shots. Pop Tarts? Move...pull em out and work to focus fire on em when one pops their head out.

I have to agree with you after few drops in 12 men.
I've faced entire team of Highlanders (same model, same load-out), and they were nuts. That was a poptarting hell..... Developers must take CRITICAL ACTIONS fixing such an issue as well as team weight balancing.

Any team oriented sport will always pick the strongest combination of abilites or characters. Example, go back and look at the various seasons of World of Warcraft. In 3's, Rogue, Mage, Priest was always 7 out of the top 10 teams. When they buffed Druid, Druid, was popular in 2's.

Let's look at another example. When they had player run servers in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the most used guns in player run leagues were the AK-47, AK-74u, and the MP5. Hardly any of ther the other assault rifles or SMGs and no LMGs were ever used.

I'm not saying its underpowered or overpowered, but to say it is ineffective is just a lie.

Do you know what the high ELO brackets use? I'm going to guess not.

Drop limits / class limits would be something, so a team cannot and will not drop with 12 Highlanders. ^^

All brackets use it, and the counters are the same. Aggressive play. In fact aggressive play is pretty much how to get a win 9 times out of 10 against any of the people in this community. Most of you want to sit out at 600+ away from each other and take pot shots at you. Its no surprise that poptarting works there.

So I'll concede that fact. Poptarting is effective against timid players and furries. Happy?

Set drop weight limit to 780 tons (12 x 65 ton mechs). That would make matches really interesting.

Jump sniping is the strongest and most versatile strategy in the game right now.

No one is saying it can't be countered.

You said it is ineffective, which is wrong.

If a tactic is easily countered. Its not that effective now is it?

Let me break it down for you. If you bring LRMs and the other guy rushes you with AC20s, you can't easily counter that. In fact, you can't even really account for that.

What Ngamok said in his example is that his team was being poptarted. He ran around, flanked them, and won. Just about anyone can do that.

The issue is, too many people here are way too timid to even try a flank. So thats why I say it is only effective against noobs. It should not be an effective strategy against anyone with some sort of experience under their belt.
