EDIT: Are people really so concerned that MW:O got a positive review score so that new players might be attracted to and give the game a shot? Oh no! A larger playerbase and community, we can't have that!
I can't speak for others but here's my opinion on it. If customers are unhappy with a product and they don't voice their issues, concerns, ideas, etc. to the company producing said items then the company has no idea what the consumers want. So for me, seeing a review like this does more harm than good. Regardless of your personal opinions on certain functions in the game the bottom line is they released (for whatever reason) an unfinished game.
Now a brief history lesson. Back in CB they announced OB and the player base begged them not to because the game wasn't ready for that step. It wasn't a rage or anger thing, it was a "we really don't want players seeing the game in this form because they will draw a poor opinion of the game" thing. We wanted PGI to have a better product to deliver to a large audience sot hat it would succeed, not fail.
Then they announced OB a few weeks later and some of us said "Ok well I guess it'll be ok since it's still "beta" and supported it in hopes that it would draw in more players. At this point many of us said, ok it's still "beta" and we see them making progress.
THEN, they announce "release"....
Most that were here since CB were just, well baffled. This game is not ready for a commercial release. It's not a hate thing, it's that I want this game to succeed. I love Btech, I love the IP and I actually like the game for the most part, what there is of it that is. The dev team has seemingly ignored basic things that any game of this nature should have had for testing in OB. Lobbies, matchmaking, voip, CW, more than two game modes, TUTORIALS. etc.
When I give a harsh review or opinion on something it's because I honestly feel that will help this game succeed. Right now we have two very repetitive game modes with nothing to do. Adding mechs and maps only adds so much. Most casual gamers are going to look at the complete lack of lobbies, storyline, progression (beyond piloting skills and grinding cash for a new mech), seetp learning curve, and such and get bored.
