Snip
Unfortunately I'm starting to expect this kind of out of nowhere, obtuse policy stuff when it comes to implementing features... IE 3pv, the spin up gauss nerf, the ghost heat, and now this... I'm not that active in the forums and community I suppose, I'm here to play the game not troll forums, but was this ever an issue? I never heard of it in game...
This...

Except that it can't be remapped as the option is non-existent, you've even removed "mouse1" from the actionmaps file, WTH?
Just realized I'd misunderstood the patch notes a bit...

There, much clearer now that the intent to begin with was to remove the option completely and not return it. Therefore this "feature" is WAI....
As Roadbeer said, fail concept is fail...

But i think PGI have finally managed to alienate enough of their player base to kill the game, pretty game breaking decision as far as i'm concerned.
We will see if we get a hotfix by tommorrow, no intention of waiting any longer than that.
But i can see myself and quite a lot of other players hitting that uninstall button.
Good show PGI, just when we think you've hit rock bottom with desicion making, you go and out-do yourselves.

However the fact that this change doesn't make the slightest sense and is something I have never seen asked for or complained about really makes me wonder about PGI's thinking.
Just put the damn thing back and we can all get back to arguing about what's subjectively bad instead of agreeing on what's objectively so.

I'm still struggling with the why behind it all.
All their other stupid choices have had some sort of....logic...no matter how flawed. This....
Is silly.....
Maybe it's to honor the new hero mech?

Oh god I hope that's all it is. Because as you said, there is just no logic behind this, none, zero, zilch, nada!!
Now if they come out tomorrow and say "Gatcha!!" Then I would be fine and we can all have a good laugh. BUT!! If they are serious about removing the "Fire Selected weapon Group" option, well... To quote Gollom, "WE HATES IT (PGI) FOREVER!!"

I have 58 mechs and I need that option for my control scheme to work.
I am not going to figure out new ones for all my mechs. This is a deal breaker PGI, dont put it back in and you are losing a user that spends A LOT of MONEY!!! (Have not even broken in my new Phoenix mechs yet... sheesh)
There is NO good reason to remove it... I mean are you just trying to **** people off??
You know we all make mistakes, it is what we do about them that counts....
PGI.... do something about it!!!

But,
Today I really have to say “I just don’t get it anymore.” I have spent more money on MWO in a year than I did on World of Warcraft and other MMOs in five years!
And I am starting to wonder why…
I only use the “fire weapons group” function and I have ever since Mechwarrior 2 back in 1996. I tried using a multiple button setup for a whole week and a half last year and I hated it. I use a Logitech G5 mouse at the moment and I used to use a Joystick in the earlier games. I was really looking forward to getting a Joystick for MWO but I held off just in case there would be an issue with code. Now what? Do I go buy an Xbox? I played the PS1 release of Mechwarrior 2 and it was dismal! Please if nothing else reply and tell me that this is not the result of optimising the game for consoles and that it is a lie and a vicious rumour… please!
I realise that MWO is a product of a business that has to turn a profit. I heard recently that someone from PGI said publically that they were “thrilled to have retained 50% of the founder community thus far”. When I heard that the first thing that occurred to me was “I would have been asking what happened to the other 50% and why did we lose them?” These are the people who would likely have paid subscriptions if you had asked them nicely and given them more of what they had asked for. What is going to happen when the novelty wears off and the procession of casual players dries up and becomes a trickle? Mechwarrior has a niche following and it needs its diehard fans to keep it alive long term. At this rate I am seriously worried that the party is going to be over sooner than any of us would like and that would be a shame.
Please, as so many have already said, bring back “Fire selected weapons group” option and, favourite quotes from this thread, “PLEASE STOP BREAKING MY FAVOURITE GAME!” - Our favourite game!
