So let me see if I understand this...

You paid someone to "fix" something that players have been dealing with for over a year and in fact takes all of 30 seconds to fix ourselves. The fix was to remove a popular control scheme and force us to use LMB as fire group 1.

At the same time you are 2 months in to your 6 month window to release UI 2.0, and the entirety of CW and all we have seen is UI2.0 in a public test that from all reports I have seen was the buggiest piece of code you have shown us yet.

WHY ARE YOU PAYING PEOPLE TO "FIX" SOMETHING THAT WASN'T BROKEN WHILE YOU ARE FALLING BEHIND ON YOUR SCHEDULE FOR FEATURES THAT ORIGINALLY BROUGHT US TO THE GAME?

The irony is that anyone who claims this was done to make it portable to consoles didn't think through what they were saying before they said it, because the one key per group system is completely unusable on a console.

Don't believe me? Go look at a playstation controller. Note the two thumbsticks, and the number and placement of buttons. Four buttons for the right thumb, and two top triggers for each pointer finger. So, eight buttons total. That means 6 of those dedicated to Pretty Goddamm Incompetent's new brainless weapon firing scheme.

There's a problem there. See it? It has to do with the thumbs...

If you said, those four thumb buttons are unusable you would be correct. Remember - MW would need BOTH thumbstick controls, meaning that those four thumb buttons won't be used in-game. So that leaves the top triggers, at which point the only firing scheme available would be this - two triggers to select weapon group and one to fire.

Irony isn't that none of you thought of that... it's a sad fact that most don't think things through before they speak. No, the irony is that the only way to play MW:O on a console is the control scheme Pretty Goddamm Inane just killed.

So I have a question...

For those of us in the underhive who use Joysticks...

Should I just exclusively fire "Group 1"? or just turn all my builds into Meta-humping alpha-strikers? Since 20 years of playing Mechwarrior games has created a muscle memory of pulling the trigger to fire the WEAPONS YOU WANT TO FIRE!

You know, with the WEAPON GROUP that has been SELECTED.

Dumbass move PGI.

I guess I'm in the "underhive" of joystick users with you Roadbeer, however I assign each group to a button on my stick. So as a joystick pilot I do not have to go to a single button alpha build and I am able to fire the weapons that I want to fire.

However that is my preference. That is how I have played since Mechwarrior 2.

So as a pilot that this change does not hurt at all, I would like to see the option to assign "Fire selected weapon group" return. If they still want to have the default bind be to fire group 1, sure no problem. Let those who want to cycle groups and fire the selected group do so.

I need a new pitchfork...

I'll give them this they've brought this community together in agreement on something in a way that I've seen on no other issue.

I was wondering how the industry would next surprise me with its abject disregard for product quality and the consumer.

Well, they succeeded.

In the most serious and plain mode possible, I judge PGI to be unworthy of your trust and unworthy of your money.

Removing features of the consumer's control interface after taking money from them - transactions based on the implicit agreement that the control scheme will not be altered, just as one expects that the graphics won't suddenly be 'updated' to greyscale-only - is gross stupidity at best; agenda-driven fiscal **** at worst.

This is absolutely why gamers lament the 90s. The industry of today is a disgusting gold rush washing away all semblance of commercial integrity.

To the executive(s) that made this decision: you will never have a single penny from me again, for this project or any subsequent one, and I will denounce you wherever and whenever I can.

This doesn't really cause any problems for me, but I feel for those that are screwed by this change. Have they given any reason for this idiotic change?

Nope.

Now, I can understand Ghost Heat, new Gauss charge mechanic, and the idea behind implementing 3PV even though the 3PV thing it just horrible, at least all of these had some level of logic behind them. However, there is no logic behind the removal of the FSWG option. The only thing I can think of is that they are trolling us, which they are succeeding at, as the only logical explanation.

Without this option, to me this is simply not Mechwarrior anymore.

I suppose the next step is the removal of player assignment of weapons to groups and the enforcement of default, dev-selected weapons groups because they figure the assignment of weapons is too complicated for their target demographic.

How many buttons will the next gen Xbox have? Obviously, toggling through 6 firing groups with 1 button per group won't work... wonder if the next step is to go down to 2 weapon groups. That might make it fit... it'll break the game completely, of course, but this changes is a step down that path.

Nice job "fixing" something that wasn't broken, ticking off the players, making it impossible for some people to actually play the game, and all around botching it. Good to know effort was put into this vs. UI2.0 and all the rest of that stuff...

Im amazed and baffled confused upset many words could be used to describe this its literally breaking my game style! I pilot a blackjack with two er ppcs and two medium lasers aka theres no sense in shooting my mediums when im trying to snipe someone 750m away. I just don't get it i feel like its only natural for left mouse button to fire the selected group. This is how Mecchwarrior has been SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE FRANCHISE. I only have a two button mouse what else am i supposed to hotkey my groups to the number bar? Yea moving and aiming at someone while trying to hit 1 through 5 does not sound like a good time and to think! I've given this game at least 100 dollars in packages and MC. Fix it PGI this is ridiculous

Oh god I hope that's all it is. Because as you said, there is just no logic behind this, none, zero, zilch, nada!!

Now if they come out tomorrow and say "Gatcha!!" Then I would be fine and we can all have a good laugh. BUT!! If they are serious about removing the "Fire Selected weapon Group" option, well... To quote Gollom, "WE HATES IT (PGI) FOREVER!!"

Even if this was a joke id still be pissed i wouldn't have a laugh at all ive dropped an obscene amount of money into this game as a college student. This is a terrible joke if thats what they're going for and its insulting to the mechwarrior franchise and the players who use one of the core functions of a mechwarrior game. Fire groups have been in since THE ORIGINAL Mechwarrior i just don't understand. Also upset because this is one of my two days off of the week and i can't even play cause all i can fire is a ******** alpha put it back PGI

yeah it is very quiet,i have about half a dozen friends(all of em paying custermers on a regular basis) that use this feature so much that they are ready to leave the game and some of them are considering asking for a full refund as well. maybe some communication on this matter would help. i hope they get to it before they start another mass exodus away from this game. come on pgi dont drop the ball on this just fix it put the fire selected weapon group back in the options for keybinding and all this will go away otherwise you are going to lose alot of paying players... really HOT FIX NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you completely, but did you HAVE to use all the exclamation points allotted to the internet for today? Now I'm going to have to use some other form of punctuation... thanks.

Dear Piranha Games,

I am an avid MWO fan and was extremely excited when the game came out but this recent patch troubles me greatly. Specifically the removal of the "Fire Selected Weapon Group" function. I feel I speak on behalf of a large number of the community in this email. The function you removed has been a core function of Mechwarrior games since I was a child playing on my father's Gateway 3000. It also severely impedes my style of play because I use a two button mouse. I do not think its right to A) have to purchase a "Gaming Mouse" to be able to pilot well, or ;) have to assign my firing groups to my already cluttered key bindings while trying to keep my aim with the mouse. Another thing that troubles me is a lack of response from you the developers. It truly amazes me at the lack of official response about this issue when there has been hundreds of posts in the forums in the last 24 hours. This is the reason I am emailing you its my last ditch effort to get some sort of response from you. The fact that none of your staff has said a WORD about this issue on the forums is extremely disheartening. Its not an issue with how efficient the controls are but how limited you just made them. All past Mechwarrior games have been about the abillity to customize weapon loadouts and utilize them however you want to that's what makes it so fun! With this change you're limiting that core concept of customization and in turn limiting the game I've thoroughly enjoyed this past year and a half. Please PGI i'm desperately reaching out and asking on the behalf of our community to put this function back, if it was not broken in the first place then why remove it? Once again a response would be greatly appreciated and I feel that myself and the community deserve at least that.[/color]

Thank you,

Justin, a paying customer and lifelong Mechwarrior fan

Sent this to PGI's general inquiry email we'll see how long it takes

I am infuriated their email back was a link to their hiring website and the MWO website don't know if its a mistake? or a bot or something but time will tell also posted on their facebook about to call them if anyone wants the number ill post it in a little while i am going to politely complain

Progress update they deleted the post I made on their facebook page apparently they definitely do not care
