This game will be a shadow of itself in january next year. You think it's bad now? Wait until the players that are holding it together leave for not-megaman, elite: dangerous, SC, GGX3, improved GTA online, massive content updates to most MMOs, next gen consoles... By that time, they still won't have a properly functional UI 2.0 - let alone DX11, community warfare, or new mechs that are worth a damn, and the only new map is gonna be the borg cube HPG station.

You can quote me on this.

Still waiting for you to find where I said Training Grounds was sufficient. Please refrain from future assertions until you can back up your previous ones.

I mistook you for the good colonel.
But with all of you saying the exact same thing for over a year now, it's only natural you'd start blurring together. Until I checked, I thought for sure that it was one of your posts.

Sir, while I find optimism generally refreshing, I must respectfully argue that the game is becoming so stagnant as to drive away even the most ardent players. More so than that, I must take umbrage with your commentary on people "coming and going" to the game. "Make new friends?" Good Lord. Perhaps you might consider for a moment that you are one of the lucky few who still has a group to play with, or who manages to find people who care enough about the game to play with any sort of regularity? For a growing number of people, this is far from the reality they experience upon logging in.
My experience is anecdotal, but so is the experience from folks losing friends and not finding new ones. Like I said, I'm down only 1 friend due to 3PV, and my friends list has grown by at least 100 people in the past 2 months, and I've played perhaps 15 new (less than a month experience) players over that time period.

As for being stagnant, it all depends on what you're looking for and how you're involved. Sure, the game play hasn't changed greatly, but it has changed here and there, and there are plenty of things you can do to find new gameplay (plenty of tourneys, group metas, or simply playing with a group of friends). For me, I'm still learning new wrinkles in the game play, and have been branching out into different scenes. What's stagnant for one person may not be for someone else.

Mostly, I see a bunch of folks in this thread who are more interested in saying "woe is me" than they are in finding something new and enjoyable.

That said, play what's fun for you. If MWO isn't fun for you, then find something else that is. MWO isn't going anywhere, and some time away may help you get some perspective and excitement back for the game.

Again, lumping me in with a group?
"All of you" meaning those who disagree with you? Would that be situationally or in general?
Nearly 10,000 posts and you still act like a forum n00b. Generalizations, hyperbole and absolutes will fail you every time.

DX11 is the upcoming patch.

That won't change the situation that much, other than one checkbox PGI needed to fix before launch.

I was hoping to chime in before the thread degenerated into the usual forum bickering and back-and-forth... oh well.

Yesterday I logged onto MWO, looked at my stable of a couple dozen mechs... looked at my friends list, looked at the mechs... and logged off. Every time before this happened I would play at least a single game before going "Meh" and logging off.

This game desperately needs new game modes and some sort of Community Warfare-esque interface (failing actual CW). I don't care if the map does absolutely nothing except look like a pie chart, if I could alter the size of the faction's pie slice, it would give me some sort of higher motivation (for a month or two anyhow).

Part of it is just general jadedness, I still have buddies on TS to group with, but most of us don't even bother using comms tactically during battle, we'll just talk about random non-MWO related stuff, with the occasional "Oh {Scrap}, enemy at A7!" interjected. When you have more CB and XP than you can really use, the difference between winning and losing isn't that much. Without setup matches/lobbies there's no telling if your opponents are going to put up a fight or just fall over as soon as you start focus firing.

I'm sticking around hoping that UI 2.0 and CW will help a lot of things, but every patch brings new disappointments (even with the bugfixes and new content mechs.)

If you had been around more you would know that there was lots and lots of constructive criticism and it was ignored for a year.

Woah hold up, DX11 is confirmed to go in this week? If so, please link to it.

Shouldn't you be back on the Star Citizen forums getting that whole "operation Exodus" ready?

They said it was pretty close, but I don't think it's coming next patch. But it could hit before the end of the year from the way it sounded...

I thought the public test result post was enough?

It's not assured to be this patch, but considering how the 12v12 test went (same applies to 3PV), it was moved towards the next or the patch after it. They've been more or less consistent on the turnaround on the public test to live game patching (UI 2.0 alpha being the only exception, due to obvious bugginess/known incompleteness of it).

Could we make it between the games rather than starting a halftime?

At this point i doubt DX11 will be anymore than a checkbox from the last beta test the graphics where identical except that Ambient Occlusion was not working in DX11 ;)
