I cannot help but ask myself what they have been doing with those 60,000 hours, and why we haven't seen a single shred of CW yet (aside from mock-ups and a lot of talk).

TBH, I dunno. It's probably that there's only 1 or 2 competent people at the helm that can do the UI 2.0 underlying stuff, and the rest unfortunately don't seem to have a good role outside of Paul trying to fit a square peg into a round hole that is balancing. Outside of trying to make UI 1.5 better, they opted to do something unknown (whether we know it or not), so it is actually hard to quantify or qualify who is doing what in the programming side.

The problem is that now that UI 2.0 is "operational" for PGI, they have to do all the "redoing" of the basic interfaces (which is responsible for all the other threads created recently).

At this moment, they are woefully trying to buy time, in the form of more sales, mechs, and maps... and not doing a great job trying to fix other things that shouldn't be so dependent on UI 2.0, like tutorials, game balance.

So, it's pretty much "we dug ourselves in a hole" and "we forgot to bring rope to climb up from it". The difference is some people are offering to give them rope and play some "hangman".

Yes, but what about the egg? Someone mentioned "dragons egg". Maybe it's more some kind of easter egg? That said, did anyone notice this little thingy in the map? Posted Image In one of the last NGNG Podcast they talked about a new Mech that will be released early next year (spring?). And they definitely talk about a humanoid light mech! Now look at the picture again.

What about that egg shaped thing in the lower right-hand corner?

I got an idea. Why don't they go ahead and make a construction set like bethesda did with the elder scrolls. Then all of us who are enthusiasts and hardcore modders with a large set of skills in everything needed to do this. Can then finish this game up for them in a couple of months.

I don't see how doing a video will be less work than text, but I think it can be done well if the work is put into it. You will have to transcribe the text anyways, so it doubles the work. I would rather have text answers on a weekly basis than video monthly, personally, but I'll take any communication I can get.

Remember the first time you used a keyboard? Using one finger, looking around to find the letters.. It's not quick to do a quick write up if you cant type. And as it should be evident by now, it's even slower to code a game that way.

Sigh.. This has so much potential that it's actually painful to watch it spiral down. But I'll promise to back this project up with buying 3000 MC if they do the skirmish mode with assault bases still on the map, but with signs saying "closed for the brand spanking new game mode" duct taped to them.

And the UI.. quite frankly, I just wish they had added the features needed for actual content release to the current one. Yes, the current mechlab is excrement, but taking a year to replace it with shinier excrement isn't doing the game any favours as at the end of the day, we could build the mechs in a text editor and spending apparently very limited resources on that while the actual game goes nowhere is just bad.

This should sum up the feedback I'm reading after this update:

The hardcore old school MW:O founders: "Yeup, more of the same, delay, delay, delay, no money for you!"

The fan boys who just want more stompy stompy: OMG, thank you so much for the "third" game type! I can't wait for a new map and some more hero mechs to spend my money on! I still take selfies in my thong raven outfit!

The casual gamers: I thought this was an MMO Mechwarrior game? Meh, hey didn't the xbox 1 just get released..see ya!

The Trolls: Muhahahahah... A gaming company that dangles products like carrots to starving horses...only to never deliver.

All other gamer types: Hmm..I just bought another ship!!! Schweet!

I'm really not sure where I fall in this list...I joined up in September thinking that this was a full scale fight for planets game..only to find a shiny new Mechwarrior 4...I want this game to do well (Overlord paid for), and I want to play full scale battles for planetary control..but I feel that more thought out and developed games are going to stompy stompy this one in the end.

Good luck Devs! Your on OUR clock, not the other way around.

Actually, no. The Devs need to attract customers with a good product - but they don't work for us in any way. The very idea is, well, silly. That's like threatening to fire the supermarket manager because you shop at his store.

I would agree with you if they had a finished product...but they don't. By our clock, I meant that more players will be dropping this game than picking it up..making any development fruitless. No one would purchase more goods for a supermarket with no customers.

If you kept getting drawn into a supermarket because they kept trying to attact custoemrs by offering "Store specials" on items, you get into the store and those specials were not as advertised, you would expect the store manager who put those specials up to be culpable?

Clans: I'd say start off with NOT allow mechs to be modified from base configs

Game Modes: yes please, more and more of these are needed, even if they are new maps or whatever, death match, last man standing, king of the hill, dropship, assault, etc.

CW: Gotta do something, have a house "training" map where it's all internal competition competing in a ladder or something competitive to determine some sort of prize eg. limited edition mechs, or weapons or something that brings out some competition. Just like all games, people want to have an end goal, be it some crazy looking weapon that people go oh wow, maybe that guy is dangerous.

Yeah, no offense but I sincerely hope they don't go with NGNG doing the "ATD" video's. It will be a giant on air bromance cluster ****.

Dear PGI,

first of all, thank you very much for the long overdue information about the state of the game. I can´t loose the feeling though that i´ve already read this around 6-8 months ago, maybe in a little less detailed format, but i´ve read it already. I personally don´t believe anything i am reading here any longer - that thing with fool me once... yknow - until it is finally released. Until then, sorry to mention it just another time, my money goes elsewhere because i am not used to buying empty promises.

I got a great idea how this broken relationship can be easily fixed. It´s called: Less promising, more implementing - because seeing is believing.

Wishing your production team the best of luck.

Godspeed

Skirmish mode sounds like Assault mode just without the bases.

Yawn.

No CW yet. Looks like I wait another month.

By his boss - who is not me. However, as that's not analogous to what's happening here, my answer does not matter. Instead, the supermarket is trying to remodel to accommodate additional departments. Because of various problems, that remodeling is behind schedule, much to the disappointment of customers. Now, as a customer I have several adult decisions available to me: I can accept the delays and continue to shop until the much-anticipated new departments open; I can go elsewhere and keep checking the ads for a Grand Opening announcement; or I can give up and go to another store. What I cannot do, as an adult, is throw a hissy fit, hurl insults - or pretend that the "manager" works for me and "I'm going to have you fired!" That's the response of an ignoramus, or a spoiled child, and I would expect it to be treated appropriately.

I’m glad you are finally tuning the hit-boxes. The community brought up an issue, and you addressed it with action, not swift action, but you got around to it.
Oh, you put in a new Jenner. Let me go buy that.

Or you know what? How about some of those features from closed beta that actually made the game fun, like collisions and knockdowns? How about physics? Or ballistics?

Wait, wait. Jenner Football was fun?

Also, what ballistics are you talking about? There's already ballistic drop in the game... Just not sure what you mean.

So, let me get all of this straight.

You've been working all this time on UI2.0 and CW, but you're releasing UI 2.0 in a broken, buggy state and CW isn't even in alpha?

What the **** do you guys do all day at the office? Stop making mechs. Stop making maps. FINISH THE DAMNED GAME.

My patience and understanding has expired, as has my premium account. You're gonna have to earn them back.

I think it was a large mistake when pgi went with the publisher.. They started worrying about game balance and such before they even brought in the other half (clan) of the game. They've messed with the armor values, heat and other factors so much that they cant have a double heat sink actually work as intended. Instead of using other factors besides heat to control damage done by a weapon system times always a good one to use recharge time for ppcs, the more ppcs the longer the recharge time.. What good would alpha striking 5 ppcs if it takes most of the battle to recharge it better yet dont bring in a model that can carry 5 ppcs. or dual ac20's. Common sense should be used for other things like ac 20 raven. or PPC. Should have been a sign that lit up ion mech lab when someone tried to put ppc on raven or commando Too big to fit *****!
I think pgi should have started out at 3025 beginning of 4th succession war. Get the game built, only have to worry about IS mechs. Make people at first have to join a house. Get that community warfare going. Now you have time to adjust things and try things. now you can close that down and start bring in the clan invasion and do your day by day thing.

All I see is a clustermess. I wouldn't mind the video update if all your showing us are screen captures, of vids of coming stuff.we don't really want to see heads talking. I don't watch that ***** for star citizen myself. It will be interesting to watch they started out like you guys crowd funding. They have it easier in many ways but already seeing allot more background, more art more feel for when their game exists.
Money is important and so many of us want battle tech type game to succeed but if dollars are our vote I can tell you that in the group I belong the votes aka money is going to star citizen by a wide margin people are buying multiple ships and talking about it.

This update from Paul sounds like the stunt I used to do at work. Make a big show to my boss of attempting to do something while at the same time trying to get as little done as possible and waste as much of my employer's time as possible. At the end of the month I still collect my paycheck. So, I do whatever I can to avoid work. Paul sounds just like the old me. It takes a snake to recognize a snake.
