Didn't they start that new "In stages, every six months" gimmick at the launch party three months ago?

Dude, calm down.

According to Russ's latest dev post, UI2.0 will be out in 4-6 weeks and CW will begin arriving in stages in 6 months.

The problem is many just simply don't believe it. PGI has to DO something at this point. No amount of road maps, deadlines, etc. is going to change the perception of many potential paying customers at this point. Hating and ranting does no good either. You can either play for free or move on or buy stuff. Post the reasons why you're doing these things to PGI and hope PGI "means it" this time

whose problem is this exactly? i feel the people who don't believe it can go play dayz or wasteland2 or any number of other games in the meantime for a couple of months or a year or however long and check back if/when they feel like it. its perfectly fine to not trust/not believe PGI and just go somewhere else. thats generally how customers voice disapproval.

problem with this forum is that the tone veers wildly into 'i'm going to quit if you don't do as i say. i don't believe you, you need to DO something, ' etc.. but actually PGI doesn't have to do anything besides keep on trucking. Find yourself descending into weird, passive-aggressive rhetoric and fits of unsubstantiated entitlement? Take a break. will be good for you.

The players not the ones setting and communicating then missing deadlines...they are, and many players like me are simply taking them at face value. After awhile of not delivering on what they say, well I just stop believing what they have to say and I have stopped spending money. Not really an unrealistic position since what I paid towards besides the mechs and premium time I got was what they stated as THEIR design elements.

Unfortunately they have not delivered on that so I will start spending on other developers whom I have faith in until such time they give me reason to lack that faith like PGI. Thats the beauty of consumerism. They do have to earn my trust and dollars.

Nothing wrong with that. What I have an issue is with people taking everything PGI does as a personal insult to them and react like as if PGI kicked their dog and beat up their grandmom lol.

Everything you said above is true except one thing game design isn't easy it takes, it takes as you said effort, it is a challenging task to do right, it is easy to do mediocre/bad gamedesign but true elegant engaging game design isnt easy

Thank you. That other guy must be talking about making a minesweeper game or something like the Windows XP pinball game. This is a HUGE freaking online game. Anyone can just draw up a design that involves multiplayer, mechs and such. It takes TRUE challenges and TRUE committment to make a game that is STABLE(ish) and keeps having people coming back for more.

Let's face it. From May 2012 to May 2013, what they accomplished with a team of 45 is absolutely amazing. Not one person can deny that. There are F2P MMO games that do not even last a year off the drawing table. They have designed a game that even if people refuse to pay any money towards in game content, yet continue to play it day after day...that in my book means a job well done. That means they still want to play BECAUSE it is a fun game, but in this case, like most, are waiting for the new UI, CW and some even Clans, before spending another penny. Understandable. But you know what? They still play MWO every day, and that is something that if you are even slightly coherent enough to understand, is a huge achievement in itself.

Let me play the devils' advocate on your 3 choices.

1.:

View PostThumper3, on 17 December 2013 - 05:54 PM, said:

Here's the flaw in that weak excuse.

The art and the programmers are paid out of the same bank. So if programming is so hard, then maybe SOMEONE should have made the decision to hire more programmers and less art people......

If they can't meet these deadlines with the staff they have, then they have 3 choices;

1- Hire more people to meet deadlines
2- Stop giving unrealistic deadlines they can not meet with current staff
3- Make up deadlines with no regard for the realistic achievable level of them and just cross their fingers somehow it will just happen.....

Guess which one PGI is sticking with?

And dude, we are not talking about missing a deadline by a BIT.

We are talking about Bryan standing on a stage in front of hundreds of CUSTOMERS and looking us in the eye and saying "UI2.0 will be out in 4-6 weeks and CW will begin arriving in stages in 6 months...."

That was Sept 28th.........that was 10 weeks ago, and now according to some tweets (because god forbid there is any unified communication protocol, like, say....a forum) UI2.0 is now scheduled for Feb (and will be 'buggy')???? Which means even once it is out, they can't pull their small band of programmers to concentrate on CW, because they are going to STILL be working on UI2.0 live in the field....LMAO

That is 4 months, not 4 weeks. That's a deadline failure of what 300%?? When you are missing deadlines by 3 times the original timeline, you have to SERIOUSLY stop and look at your project management controls. I mean, with that schedule CW will not start coming out until what....middle of 2015?? Seriously, what industry do YOU work in where missing a deadline is no big deal?

Why are so many people making excuses?? I don't care how many employees they have. They are running a BUSINESS, it's their job to manage their products. I mean, I kind of get it, when I bought the Phoenix pack (and the Sabre add on) when they were first offered there were lots of angry people. I also stood up to defend PGI a bit....they had made many mistakes (in game and in PR) but they seemed to acknowledge it and seem open to making changes to learn from those mistakes. I was ok with giving them money to develop what they were promising to develop.......yet here we are, same issues, still.

Seriously, at this point there are only two options; They are knowingly lying because they know NO ONE would be pouring money into this game if they stood up and said CW will be out in 2015 or they are incompetent and unable to understand their own development capabilities. Neither is very attractive, but that's what we're left with.

Let me play devils' advocate on your 3 questions.

1.: You need money to pay programmers if you wish to hire more. Programming is (usually) a high paying field of work. If you say "well just fire art design people to hire more programmers" Well, then you would see a decrease in maps and mechs being designed which would give the QQers more to moan about. Also, FYI, art design designs the template and designs and all the grpahical concepts for UI 2.0. The programmers make it a reality.

2.: See number 1.

3.: That is simply just being a narcissist and if you are unhappy with the game, come back in 4-6 weeks, and if UI 2.0 is not in, then you can tell me "I told you so" all you want. I won't complain. :D

Err... It is PGI's problem.

When you release what is generally considered a money printing machine in the battletech universe, in the form of clan tech, and the result is one of the longest threads in the history of the forums, of folks telling you to die in a fire, then you got a problem.

PGI has managed to destroy all good will they once had. That is a significant problem, dude.

I still think they should have left this game to the Living Legend guys. Way to ruin a perfectly good game.

What I'm so very tired of seeing and hearing is all the damn WHINING! If any of you cry babies can do a better job at making and improving this game why aren't you? Don't forget that you will need to pay for the brand licensing, facility expenses, computers, software, payroll just to list a few. Free to play in no way implies Free to make. If the game and it's progress is as horrible as some of you make it out to be, why do you still play and post?

The game is fun. The progress we mainly see however are not what we were promised two years ago, one year ago, or even now. I still think ghost heat is a bad idea. How do new players even know about it? I would play more if CW was around. I got several of friends to play this game but they just saw it as a mech shooter, with nothing added. They love the lore and all said if there was more to game they would stay but there is not.

I think PGI is losing money because they lose players without community warfare to keep new players.

That is really funny actually.

My average drop takes about 3 seconds to find one.

Edit: typo

Isn't PGI based out of Canada? It's still 6:30am on the east coast. I think they have all day bro.

They still have 6 hours and some change from where I live.

I'm sure PGI will pull though. It's not like their out partying or something like that. That would be irresponsible to do while there's still work to do.
