Which pilot talent tree are you picking first and why?

I prefer to dodge, dip, duck, dive, and dodge while keeping good sensor data coming in for the rest of the lance than just putting warheads on foreheads.

However - I half expect the Scout to be the first tree, and you must gain X experience before you can buy Att/Def skills, and so on for Command. I'm not even sure if I would dislike this.

I just kind of like the idea of being fire support and giving out useful information to my team with commands.

1) there will be a lot of bad commanders to start with. And a lot of good brawlers to start with.
2) many bad commanders will migrate to brawlers.
2) many scouts who realize they can't run around assault mechs and kill them will migrate to brawlers.
3) many good brawlers will migrate to scouts and commanders.
The lure to be the baddest dude on the field is too tempting for good players to not start there initially. The lure to be the "leader" of the battlefield or the fastest mech is too tempting for many who will soon realize they aren't cut out for or more importantly, don't enjoy those jobs.
But I could be totally wrong.
is see this happen all the time when introducing people to strategic role games

After 300 or so votes, it looks like an average company of 12 mechs would go about as follows:
Lance 1: Attack
-Commander
-3 x Attack
Lance 2: Defence
-Commander
-3 x Defence
Lance 3: Recon
-4 x Scout
...with Lances 1 and 2 somewhat interchangeable in roles

So, are you under the impression that if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an AC/20?
As for myself, I'll be going Scout with some Atk/Def vision modes thrown in.

Watching a good team play this game will be a thing of beauty in time, me thinks.
All the right people in the right places at the right time, using exactly the right stuff.......
And in open games I think you will see at least some people use the scouting tree skills to sit in the back until they can rush in and cherry pick your kills.

If it is going to be this specialized they would either have to list it next to the persons name or restrict the amount per game. I know this is more of a simulation, but in many games, relaying enemy locations is automatic, as long as they are in communication range. Having a specialty in order to do this seems awkward to me.
