An atlas on a motorcycle in game might be worth $500

Ok, you're really far off base here. Unless there's 1000 people out there with Pokemon-itis in that they're unable to do anything but get every mech available, this just ain't going to happen. Also, not that it says "limited quality." I'm thinking that there might be like 5-25 of the gold mechs, not 1000 of each. That means 40 to 200 of these mechs total...and 25 could certainly be a massive stretch, probably more like 5 to 10, which is more like $40,000.

If they then sell 250 of the Masakari packages that's another $60,000 which is $100,000 total. Then probably various other denominations of the packages, I'd guess that a million would be the absolute tops for what they're estimating to get out of this, probably more like half that. Granted, that's a very nice chunk of change, but not the small fortune that you're suggesting.

There is no limit. PGI will sell as many as it can because they need the cash infusion. This isn't SC where they already have $20mil in the bank.

It's things like this. They need to put some more thought into how they are delivering their message. Especially when they do this right on a weekend and then disappear leaving the forums to ignite over the weekend.

When broken down, the packages are a sweet deal (several people have already broken it down). The gold mechs? No, not even close to being worth that much.

While I'm a huge fan of clan mechs (not them though), there's too little information. What are the varients? How will they work? What is this mystery module? Until I get that information, and the promised features at least getting started to be rolled out, my wallet is staying closed.

Mate, if you think PGI is really offering a limited number you're mad. "Here PGI take another $500 for your digital goods!!!" "No, no, I'm sorry, we don't want your money, there is only a limited...and undisclosed... number of these unique and valuable mechs."

LOL, I think not. PGI never met any money they didn't like.

Why are there more than one chassis for an Omnimech?
Are Clan weapons going to be put in pods? Will Omnimech hardpoints limit pods to prevent boating?
What is a Warhorn? Is it like the Heavy Metal?
What is the function of each "Unique Module"?
Why not let people choose which chassis to purchase?
Why was this announced before implementation of CW, and UI 2.0?

Can anyone at PGI answer these questions?

There is a limited number, it's the same number it took to unlock the project phoenix rewards. (Hint: It's this, 8, turned on it's side!)

That's possibly true, but I think that's more for the packages, not the gold mechs. They've got "limited quantity" written right beneath them. I don't really think they can get away with writing that on there and then selling an unlimited quantity of them.

Edit: one other point, PGI is the Developer. They're making the game, the models, the maps and so on. IGP, the Publisher, is publishing the game, ie selling the packages, marketing them and the like. PGI deserves some of the blame, but IGP deserves as much, perhaps more for the way all these packages are coming out.

I'm sure that a lot of other crowd-funded ventures also never met any money they didn't like, they still have limited quantity packages that they made available, and then didn't make extra available, even though more people would have bought them. There are lines with these things, legally enforceable lines, that says "when you market something, you better back it up."

All the cynicism that's flying around won't change that at least.

So I think it's okay to put some assault-like hardpoints in the Pretty Baby. Pay to Play/Win is no longer in doubt.

That's too much money in one chunk. I don't want, will never use, most of those Mechs.

I bought the Phoenix Mechs on good faith that you were working on creating MWO weapon balance to work like Battletech's and support Energy as well as Ballistics as this would result in good support for most any Mech. Instead we get DHS 1.4 plus Ghost heat, plus the Gauss Rifle desync and then the Thunderbolt and Battlemaster arrive and they are Energy Boats, but have just enough room to fit the ruined Gauss Rifle. So there they sit in my Mechbay, almost untouched. I could build something out of them, but it wouldn't be as good as the other MWO Ballistic-enabled mechs. That's the problem with only using Heat as a balancing tool. Half the mechs end up being no-shows even though in Battletech game they would be okay.

Then there is the other truth, that you should never have to nerf Inner Sphere weapons at all if you intend on having the Clan Invasion. Maybe tweak a bit, but DHS 1.4 on Inner Sphere double heatsinks? They already come pre-nerfed, requiring 3 crits each. Ghost Heat too? That proves MWO is broken, but on top of that you had to remove Gauss Rifles for most players.

I don't think MWO will support Clan Mechs. I just see MWO in a tailspin of nerfs that cap damage at a comparatively low level by removing weapon types which removes alot of Mechs from competitive play. The current Mechs have to be able to compete against un-nerfed Inner Sphere tech or your Clan Invasion will just be a big headache with very poor utilization of the Clan Mechs.

So show me this is not true.

Its got nothing to do with art. The art is great.

I'm not saying that some who are feeling frustrated aren't necessarily justified, I'm just constantly disappointed (Yeah yeah, I know, "am I new to the internet or what?" ) in the way people feel they're entitled to express those feelings.

It's downright sickening some of the stuff folks are tossing out there.

Is nobody able to say things like "Here's what I like about it, here's what I don't, here are my questions, here are my concerns" without flooding the internet with this kind of stuff? Communication is a lost art I tell ya, a lost art.

I certainly don't expect everyone to just be like, "Oh yeah, AWESOME" in response to this, and I certainly have some reservations of my own to be honest (around my hopes for CW for example), but come on, seriously people.

I honestly think that if UI 2.0 and Community Warfare came out tomorrow and both were perfect in every way, and they also improved balance in game and implemented all the other features you girls are crying about. That you would still have something to complain about.

There will always be some complaints in any game, but if the above happened, they'd be receiving any future complaints I have AFTER receiving another $240 from my wallet.

I assure you, they'd be o.k. with that.

I'm not gonna lie...

I'm more than a bit pissed that I'm expected to shell out $210 just to get a Timberwolf/Madcat, or wait probably 2 to 3 more months to even be able to compete with anyone else... I've never said it before, but I'll say it now: "Nice PAY-TO-WIN business model, PGI/IGP".

Try getting the ENTIRE GAME working first! EVERYTHING that was PROMISED before the game went "live" is still a long ways off, yet you want MORE money?! WTF?!

Obviously, people are spending a buttload of money on this game, otherwise they wouldn't have the audacity to ask $500 for GOLD omnimechs! Holy {Scrap}-on-a-stick!

How is paying so much money for these mechs justifiable? People shouldn't have to pay 210$ just because they want a Mad Cat. Mechs should be cheaper, not be tied to 'tiers' like they are now, and should be able to be purchased separately based on what a customer wants.
