I've still not cashed in my premium time, and I'm still waiting to start monatizing in this game for when it is complete.
I'm a clan player and I really enjoy the clans,. It really hurts that I'm going to have to go without because once again, their packaging scheme is structured in a way I do not agree with. In the original founder's package, you were able to select the 'mech you wanted. That is why I went with that option. The subsequent offerings have been fixed. No thank you.
I will also echo the sentiments of some others, that the outward appearance of this offering occuring now is _very_ easy to interpret as a shameless, exploitative and practically desprate cash grab.
I will not speculate as to the reason for the way the communication has been handled or the rationale in structuring the offer in the manner it has been. But the communications from the marketing team have not been sufficient to sell this product to me or convince me of its value.

For those who didn't get this news.
It's a shame these infos didn't find their way in the forums (or maybe I just overlooked them?), but at least one can hope for some kind of acceleration in development after UI2.0 is released.
They told it before, I know, but maybe in January we'll finally see UI2.0 and DX11.
If they actually had a webpage that was tied into their own social feeds, I'm sure promises like this would be a little more well received... the things he said are big news, but i mean like, why bother putting that on your official website hahah it's, you know, only the official website where people go for .. everything official about MWO? Oh but SOCIAL MEDIA. Gatta get on twitter and alienate the main player base that visits the official website for official news, rather then going to a social media site for that. I guess we're in the wrong to think that this official website would contain anything official.
In my eyes, if they don't post that {Scrap} on the forums if they aren't interacting with their customer base DIRECTLY ON THEIR OWN FREAKING WEBSITE, i don't care what they say on Twitter or Facebook. It's all white noise and shows they care more about publicity, quantity over quality. Twitter isn't the official MWO page. It might be an official MWO twitter feed, but it's just a twitter feed. You get more answers using twitter than you do using their actual forums. The forums that are supposed to supply feedback, and talk directly to the devs? Yeah they're not listening. I find this social media stuff a crock of bunnysyrup.

UPCOMING SUMMER, provided the supermassive black hole doesn't go nuts and consume the galaxy, or any other looming cataclysms that everyone and their mother expects by now don't happen, THEY will (probably) ARRIVE!
You asked for it? YOU GOT IT!
You didn't aks for it? YOU GOT IT ANYWAY!
You asked for something different? GUESS WHAT? YOU'RE GETTING THIS INSTEAD!
TEH MYSTERY PACKAGE 3:
(FURRY) ADJECTIVE-ANIMAL RUSSIAN SPACE ELF INVASION!
Starring:
- Shotgun Spider (grounded but with streaks!)
- Kerensky's Hunchback-sized boxer bulldog (with so many lasers, it could abuse ghost heat for star system-scale self-destruction!)
- Thunderbolt on steroids (with 5 more tons of pure muscle, it now eats its dumbbells after a workout, and washes it down with Cataphract tears!)
- 100 ton PIMPLE FROM BATTLETOADS (who else would have fists large enough to house all that weaponry?) JAZZ HANDS!
- Koniving's Jenner (you know the Maestro's hand when you see a seemingly random flamer thrown into a config, but it's there for a purpose, it's because YOU GONNA BURN!)
- Not Vulture (because 55 ton laser boats are more fun, deal with it!)
((((((((
- THE MOST EPIC, MOST VENERATED, MOST WANTED CAT MASCOT THIS SIDE OF SLOAN'S WALL (and it's not your ultimate prize just because it's too polite (no marketing tricks here (seriously)))!!1!1!!!
- Masakari? Really? YARLY!
((( (Well, we know it's a Battlemaster with a bathtub on its head, but it's here because sarna says that "While unable to fire all of the ER PPCs at once, (<--I totally just placed this comma here, sarna didn't have it) it could use a volley fire strategy to manage its heat." There, you heard it here
firstagain. Now lose that Still Sad About Ghost Heat Face and lose your last $30, because you're getting Mad Cat anyway, so you might as well take this Death Rhino with it. Really.)
- Fantastic Art! (MWO's lifeline, so duh)
- No Blood Asp. Check back in 9 years. And a bigger wallet. Haha.
(((((((((
- No clever Pre-Christmas money-grabs. Srsly. None. (Jedi Jazz Hands!)
- Interestingly, Not many Jumpjetters. That lonely Wolverine 6K doesn't feel as lonely anymore!
(OH AND BTW THIS ONE'S TOTALLY NOT PGI'S FAULT, OKAY?)
- Signed. Digital. Art. I'm confused, better hit myself in the face. With an ERPPC.
- Warhorns. (WTH is that? (Shut up, it's not June yet))
- A pretty video of some dead IS mechs. And some kineic typogrphy. No, you won't see a Mad Cat's leg in there anywhere. Deal with it.
(((((((
- Don't even get me sarted on that whole $500 Gold mech deal........... ............ ............. Some more dots....... No, just don't.........
- No separately released art, because nope. Nope-a-lope. Locust was the last art you could see in a properly big size. No more. Because Nope.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
- All of this being so far down the road, you'd have to snort a year's worth Spice from your personal Shai Hulud to know if this deal is anythinge different from throwing some serious lot of bucks right outta the window.
DAMN THOSE GUYS, CAN WE HAVE SOME OF OUR DISPOSABLE INCOME LEFT IN OUR WALLETS FOR ONCE?! NOPE! NOPITY NOPE! NOPE-A-LOPE FROM PLANET NOPE IN NAY SECTOR IN GALAXY OF NO! D:
Serious Postscriptum: Hey PGI, I must confess that fanboy glee in this mechwarrior's not so young mind still overshadows any negativity. I have long learned not to give in to expectations so much that they'd hurt me when they aren't being met, and the Mad Kitty with always have a spot in my heart. It is and will always be an icon and a warm memory from ever more distant childhood. Will I be throwing the considerable $240 out for a complete pack sometime before June? It's very likely, and the better MWO gets along the way, the happier I'll be about doing that. But there's a whole lot of dark clouds over MWO right now, if this thread is any indication...
So it's not about wishes or faith for me, no. If all goes to hell too soon, I'll find some way to deal with it, and with no regrets.

Please, PGI, do it well. So many good things will come to pass if you do.

I have to admit, I was shocked to see Pada had swapped sides over this.

Niko Snow's orginal post has a grand total of 19 Likes
Total of 3065 replies, thats 127+ posts a hour or rougly 2 a minute a vast majority of them negative with varying degrees of constructive criticisms, but to say the least people aren't happy and I have been working on post:
As someone who has been a member of these forums since October 31, 2011, is a die hard Battletech fan who has followed this game's development since the "Mechwarrior 5 Teaser Video" was released I want to make it crystal clear why I am so upset with this announcement. It is not about the package itself, it's contents or even the price, if PGI wants to offer them they are fully free to do so and I understand that it is completely optional as to weather myself or anyone here purchases them.
The reason I am so upset is that PGI has repeatedly laid out a vision of a game to this community that they have REPEATEDLY failed to deliver on. Community warfare to me is what this title was going to be all about and the following is how it has been presented to those of us who have been here since the closed beta and gave this game it's first injection of cash flow to get it off the ground with our founders packages.

Dev Blog #1 Explaining Community Warfare

- Yes I understand that there are no dates or time frames in this post, but surely if you are posting something like this it is not going to take you 2+ years to work out the theory behind said feature.

The one exception is the Community Warfare pillar which is a complex system but extremely important. In not wanting to delay the game, logic dictates it be added post-launch. Once fans are completely familiar with creating their 'Mech and pilot trees, the depth of Community Warfare will be added, with the core of the community experience projected to be in-game within 90 days of open beta.
Community warfare was to be added in the Beta, tested and worked out for release and here we are 3 months after launch and not a single line of code has been wrote for it.

PC Gamer Special Mechwarrior Online Issue
http://www.pcgamer.c...ber-2012-issue/
Tried to find a online reference but didn't have much luck so I will quote from my iPad.
Quote
Right now, in the closed beta, Mechwarrior Online operates as a team deathmatch game. You log on, you queue, you fight and you re-queue, like Battlefield or TF2. But that'll change. Sometime between this winter and next spring, Piranha plans to roll out Community Warfare, which will make Mechwarrior Online into an intergalactic territory battle between as many as 10 playable factions. And mercenary groups that fight on behalf of those factions.
This content couldn't be more key to the game's longevity "It's the umbrella that holds all the other pillars together" says creative director Bryan Ekman "It's what wraps the game up in something that creates a sense of persistence and makes the game compelling." Community Warfare is a persistent metagame. Players will align themselves to Inner Sphere factions (like the Federated Suns, Draconis Combine, or Capellan Confederation) or player-created mercenary corps. Matches you play as part of Community Warfare will shape the ownership of 300-some planets available for conquest. "The more you work for your faction, the higher rank you can achieve within that faction, which then further unlocks things like skins and decals. Rewards that demonstrate how well you've done for that faction" says Ekman.
Interestingly, Piranha will be the ones plotting the plans of the game's factions, at least at first. "We're going to manage those units from a strategy point of view. We're going to say, 'House Kurita goes here, they're going to take over these planets, and those are the things they're interested in.' Our ultimate goal is to slowly give that power to the users, so that they can actually rank up and level up and gain enough loyalty points where they can elect a group to manage their House. Then that group will choose the targets for planetary control. That's the ultimate goal."
Alongside factions are mercenary corps: player-run, independent groups. Mercenary leaders will be able to set their own structure, rules, ranking and currency payout systems. "I use the anology of a fishing boat captain up in Alaska," says Ekman "The captain might get 25 percent of the share. The deckhand gets 15. And then the greenhorn, he gets like two percent or something. It's truly up to the players how they want to share that and reward their membership."
For those of you who have seen the video from the launch day party this is the basics of what was laid out for community warfare, there is nothing really new in that presentation.
I have been patient and understanding that these things are not going to happen over night, they take time and a lot of hard work that I honestly have no concept of what it takes to develop a game like this. However, the concepts of community warfare have been around for a nearly two years, I don't see what else on the theory of side of things has or was needed to be figured out. The fact that this aspect of the game still HAS YET TO ENTER DEVELOPMENT past the drawing board is mind boggling! Bryan Erkman you specifically said "It's the umbrella that holds all the other pillars together", then please explain to me how this has not been one of your top priorities?!?!
The only time frames PGI has managed to keep is their mech release dates, and presenting a package like this tells me there focus is on making more mechs and I can't trust that even the smallest amount of their attention will be paid to Community Warfare.
I have had the MWO Client installed since I had access to the closed beta, bought two of the packages because I want this game to succeed and have been patient but yesterday seeing this package a week after being told that community warfare still hadn't seen a line of code was my breaking point. I will give this game a shot if you ever have community warfare in it, but until then it will stay off my hard drive and I won't encourage anyone I know to give it a try and vehemently encourage them to try anything but MWO.

>Clans finally announced officially
>Prices at 10 bucks per mech seems fair, if not cheap
>Everyone suddenly baaaaws just because at first glance it's expensive
>Nobody's forced to buy jack. Or be mouthy about it.
God in heaven, people, do you lot even know what you want? First it sucks that clans aren't here yet, now it's such an affront? Ugh, makes me almost wish PGI wouldn't listen to us poor sods.

Nothing, and I repeat nothing.... that Russ, Bryan or Paul says at this point means anything to me. Why? Because they've missed virtually every deadline they gave us, including the "We'll have UI2.0 to you in 6 weeks" statement made live in front of me at the Launch Party. They missed that one and now a tweet saying looking good for January (even with a ll the bugs and poor design), is just another way of saying soon.
I'm done trusting them and they've gotten the last penny of my money until UI 2.0, CW, VoiceChat, Lobbies, DX11 and Private Matchmaking are working and part of the Core Content of this game. Any tidbit of goodwill they got from me is now gone.
Until then ANYTHING they say is just more SCRAP being spewed by PGI/IGP.
The only reason I'll keep playing for now is for the guys and gals in my unit. Screw PGI and IGP they couldn't find their butts with a flashlight and both hands.

MechWarrior Online: Solaris 7.
Change all the maps into arenas. Get Duncan Fisher to say hilarious things during the games. Set-up private lobbies. Have smaller maps set-up for one-on-one fights, two-on-two, and Lance on Lance (or Star on Star). You won't really need community warfare (except as stables), planetary invasions, or any of the other stuff (except UI2.0) that was supposed to be in the game a year ago.
You can go back to 1:1 time passage. Then "The Clans are coming!" simply means that Clan 'Mechs are coming to Solaris 7.
Course, that will mean bye-bye for air strikes and arty. And alienating some of the player base. But hey, you've already done a ton of that just in the last 24 hours!
