This...

Thirded. But I think it tells us that there is no such thing as an Omnimech in PGI's game. I expect these will have fixed hard points like the non-Omni's... which is something I expressed concern about ohh... in closed beta.

Looks nice, but waaay to rich for my blood! And yes, I'm aware of the Overlord badge on my post. I'm tapped out, PGI. No mas dinero. You have all the funds I can give you. Please use them wisely.

I just hope that when all is said and done, the lesson the industry takes from this game is that you need a real marketing team capable of community management and coming up with sane pricing models.

But I fear they will just look at this and say this is what you get when you try to pander to a rabid fanbase.

Seriously PGI if you are reading these forums Lower the prices on the Clan Mechs deals those prices for $240= £147.33 and $500 = £306.94 are astronomically too High!!, You would be lucky if you got few sales from Die hard fans, no one has got the money to pay for that kind of deals

Lower your deals to around $80 = £50.00 for all Mechs

also it would be an idea to have a system in place to do monthly deposit say £10 a month as this is lot money to spend on Clan Mech deals, plus do other deals so the player is not being forced to go and pay for the top Tier deal to get his favourite Mech.

I mean realistically what am I getting for my money!! 8 x clan mech = (Custom paint jobs, 30% CB boost and 90 days premium time), plus all hard points will probably be nerfed so that the player cant make any good weapon configurations, This is what I hated about the Phoenix Mech they are still collecting dust in my mech bay as I cant make any reasonable weapons build with them, so do me favour dont nerf the weapon hard points please

Here Guys I have done a full Price Deals convergence from Dollars to British GB for existing Clan Mech deals
$500 = £306.94
$240 = £147.33
$210 = £128.91
$150 = £92.08
$120 = £73.66
$90 = £55.25
$60 = £36.83
$30 = £18.42

Pricing issues aside (and there are issues!) - PGI, could you have made this any more anti-climactic?

The lore gives you THE ULTIMATE OPPORTUNITY to create a bit of atmosphere and what do you make of it? Pre-orders without anything else. You have a long way to go. Here are a few ideas what you could have done:

Bits and pieces of (possibly conflicting) information, news reports, after action reports from worlds on the periphery in the form of tweets, youtube videos, news items on your webpage

Devs in Clan Mechs in random matches that just stand on a rock somewhere or walk around the map at the end of the match when noone can shoot them, but see them?

Anything that comes even close to something that actually makes people interested in what's happening would be an improvement and take away the constant "they are just after our money"-theme that is currently going on.

Exactly. Well put. Figured that sentiment needed a big bump. :D

Thing is I'd be up for paying £50 for a specific bundle, three Mech's + some value add. But I'm not going to spank out £100 just to get a Timber Wolf and a bunch of Mech's I really don't care about (Kit Fox, etc.). Was not the point of Free 2 Play that the customer gets more choice so we'd more readily part with our money?

I realise the Timber Wolf is pretty much THE iconic Battlemech for the video game franchise (and the Warhammer for the TT) but nope, you can have up to £50 PGI or you can have nothing. At the moment the needle is firmly in the 'Nothing' area. You need to separate out these bundles.

And again, something I was bringing up in closed beta. The Clans don't just appear and 'hello time to die', weird stuff happens. If anything the people over at NGNG have done more to hype up the arrival of the Clans than PGI have; they've been putting ever longer segments of *cough* Wolf Dragoon propaganda *cough* in to the end of certain videos.

It's got to say something when a bunch of unpaid fans of the fluff are doing a better job of 'something wicked this way comes' than a company actually making the product.

PGI has yet to learn, "pennies from the masses outweighs pounds from the few"

Quote

Three money grabs and you haven't even released a decent game yet.

Fixed it for ya ^^

[no, a game requires CONTENT. We're still in minimal mode weapons balancing beta testing]

This makes me wonder if this could be PGI's final hurrah before they halt production.

Or,

If business is so good they actually think people will buy that.

Iono, which do you think is more likely?

As someone who loves the lore but is primarily a gamer, this almost made me throw up.

The amount of content in this game is shameful. I've played well over 2,000 matches and spent over $200, and I barely have the content that I'd get in a $60 release, if that. I can't even throw together a private game with my brother and practice dueling against anything other than a stationary target. They cut C-bills back 3 or 4 months ago because "the economy is being revamped soon," which at this point, I have no other option than to conclude that it was a lie to get more MC purchases.

The base concepts underpinning this game are wonderful. I bought Phoenix for that reason, and I even bought some of the Black Friday MC, even though every part of me said to wait for some small type of new feature. But based on the actual products that are released 90% of PGI's effort is going into designing new mechs to sell, not fleshing out the features that would make this a game worth investing $15/month in. At this point, CW and UI 2.0 have virtually no way to justify a year's worth of talk.

If I didn't have other people that I enjoyed playing with, I'd walk away. As it is, I'll just close my wallet up, and I'm sad that I have to do so, as this may be the first game ever I didn't mind paying for.

They are a great deal if you jump on any package they are $10 a mech which is far cheaper than you could buy any for normally.

Light mechs are below $10 each, you actually pay more for them.

I forked up the big dough for the clan mechs. I am sad that it cost me $210 for my timber wolf but at that point why not fork up the extra $30 for the last pack.

Noooooooo!!!!!! Why'd you have to do that??? I was requesting they split it into two packages.

Anyone else see that "unique bonus module" for the Khan 'mechs? That worries me more than the pricing.

You mean like unlimited air strikes?

View PostDimzi, on 13 December 2013 - 08:52 PM, said:

Who is the joker that is coming up with this pricing? $500 for a FAKE "Gold" package of an ingame avatar of a mech that you pilot who is also an avatar that wears ugly green pants? I really hope no one buys these packages.

Somehow i've a feeling there'll be some who really believe they're buying real, physical gold.

While he decided to pass, I can give it to you. You buy Ferrari, your neighbour buys Ferrari and gets it gold plated. It doesn't make it any better than your ferrari, but he just likes to show off he has even more money than you do.

You can touch, hug, even polish the ferrari. Not the "gold" mechs though.

I find them a little pricey ($$$)
But am probably gonna go for Black Hawk collection...
I still plan to fight for Davion after the Invasion, but to make the Inner Sphere a logical option for everyone they will either offer clan tech to all or give serious bonuses when fighting with the IS.

Very, very serious bonuses.

One thing balancing out the $500 gold 'Mechs...if you can afford one, it's going to be a great trophy and bragging right. But it will also make you the biggest darn target on the field, both out of spite for your excessive ways and for the fact that you're driving a very shiny 'Mech

I'm already the biggest target on the field b/c of my excessive ways, or maye its the fact that I drive very shiny Mechs with lots of different paint jobs and cammo schemes and have fun doing it, no matter how many freeloaders I'm supporting by doing so.

Study hard and work your *** off for 30+ years, and maybe you can afford nice shiny things, too.

I for one welcome the challenge of having to fend off a bunch of ... well, not sure what word it is that describes those types of people. You know, the kind that key nice shiny cars that they can't afford, just out of spite. Malcontent? Is that it?

When i saw those 500.00$ price tags i had to go back and check I werent on a Fake "phishing" replica site of mwomercs.com trying to con me...

After double checking I had a good long laugh, then came here to part my 2 cents:

I'll Buy the 240$ pack...
I will...
As soon as the game has content to justify such an investmentthat is.
I'll be 1000$ deep once that package is bought, but rest assured it wont be bought till I see that there are still servers around by the time its june...

PGI, this is just plain out shameless of you, greedy and shameless, do you even play your own "game"?

uuh if you buy the best MC package and get 25,000 mc for $99.95 that's about 250 mc per dollar (250.12 to be exact). Oxide costs 2625 running you $10.50 so no.. lights at 35 tons will cost you more and that's at the best MC buy rate

Maths

edit: Also point to the Raven 3L since it comes stock with an XL engine and FF armor it costs 2350 MC. Clan lights will have stock XL engines, DHS, endo and FF armor the MC prices will be punching closer to 3000

I think clan mechs look awesome, though I am interested to see what the load outs etc will be. But We also have to remember Pgi guys need to get paid also, If I had the want and the money the gold Mech would be awesome. Firstly to support The game, if no one spent money there wouldn't be one. Secondly, Like any aspect of life you have those that prefer to show off and over do it, just think how many golden mechs will drop first on the battlefield when we see them. As far as the concern about all the inner sphere immigrating into clan mech, I don't see it... To many of us like to fight the good fight as the underdogs, how much better will it taste , when we are crushing these clanner's With outdated and inferior technology? Besides that, You can have th ebest mech in the universe, but with a crappy pilot its still ends up slag on the battle field.

I compared the lights with the spider and jenner regular variants, you get 2 regular and 1 boosted variant when you purchase after all. Hero mechs are priced differently, they have special quirks besides cbill boost. That's why the lights are more expensive.
