I've been running my fun builds for a while but my clan needs some competitive Shads.

2H:
UAC5, ERLL, 2xSRM6, XL300, 2xJJs, Maxed armor except for the legs, and 2 tons SRM ammo, 3 tons UAC5 ammo.
2D2:
LBX10, 4xSSRM2s, 2xML, BAP, *XL275/280, 2xJJs, Maxed armor except for the legs, 3 tons LBX ammo, and 2-3 tons SSRM ammo.
5M:
AC10, 2xERLL, *XL275/280, 2xJJs, Maxed armor except for legs, 3 tons AC10 ammo.
Other builds will work ok, but those are particularly effective.
*either XL275 or XL280 as they weigh the same, XL275 is 89.1 after speed tweak and XL280 is 90 after speed tweak.

I personally love the triple AC2 build. It's great for destroying components if you can aim. Works good on blowing off those torsos.

I was running that with XL280 and it seemed like a very hot build with limited ammo. Do you downgrade the engine?

You mean AC2s or dual AC5 with ERPPC? Both builds are jumpy sniperbuilds so you don't really need to be that fast. With XL 255 it goes 82 kph (tweaked) and that's enough for me.
SHD-2H TripleAC2
SHD-2H 2xAC5+ERPPC
Here.
I personally love to have BAP on everything, especially in TripleAC2 because you are trying to destroy components and thus you need to get the information faster. It is one of the best items for its tonnage and gives you 2 modules and you counter ECM close range. However, you can choose to have it or use the 1,5 tons for something else.
That amount of ammo with AC2s should be enough. However, when approaching amount of 100 you should start using chain fire to preserve ammo.
EDIT
Woops one ton less ammo than I usually have. Swap one DHS for ammo.

Not sure about your 3AC2 Hawk, seems way to slow and why the hell you through away 1.5 tons for bap is beyond me.
This is mine:
SHD-2H
Armor distribution is not tweaked (lazy). Had that XL275 in my inv but you can take a XL280 here. The single ML is purely optional, take more ammo or another JJ and up the armor.
You can go even faster and a bit cooler:
SHD-2H

I already explained BAP. It is underestimated but actually the best item ingame. You get 2 modules (Sensor range and target info gathering)+ you counter ECM in close quarters. All that for 1,5 tons? Would be idiotic to not use it especially when you are going to do pinpoint damage to destroy components.
But the speed is not important for this. You are not a light hunter. You are a jumpsniper.

You ALWAYS explode from focused, XL or no. SHDs handle XLs very well, and the extra speed buys a lot of survivability.

I still think that pairing an AC\5 or UAC\5 with 2 AC\2s is the best option
So much shoulder mounted dakka on such a mobile package

I never like using different autocannons on one mechs. Somehow it's annoying to use AC5 and 2 the same time as they have different firing speeds.
But again, that's just me

I was averse to the idea for a long time, and once I tried it out for a bit on my shawk I became a believer
You can click at the fire rate of the (u)AC\5 and have 9 point groupings, and then for suppression or at close range just lay on the trigger
I've gotten really good at keeping the flow of projectiles on the same location, and you can core out assault mechs in seconds, especially if you have a UAC5 on a lucky streak

I had originally run the 5M as a 5d (2 Md, 2 Streaks, BAP, and a UAC5) but the UAC sucks as a singular weapon. I also tried going with the stock 5M engine on all of the chassis and running multiple ACs but then you end up meat to lights. The one thing that I just downright hate about the SHawk is that you are either meat for the larger mechs or for the lighter mechs. You won't be a good recon mech in any build (not fast enoug and are too big) so you've got to resign yourself to one play style or the other. It isn't fun and have decided that my SHawk is just a Centurion with JJs and a 5 ton beer gut (ie, I'm not good at either of those mechs).
