People use ER PPCs?

Polls! They said they send out private polls to select users who are silent. But if they're silent... how do they respond? ... o_O

So it looks like the AC20 took a small nerf...... along with the AC10.......smh. I have to ask, what was wrong with it as it was?

Gameplay
Weapon Tuning:
  • AC/20 - Projectile speed decreased from 900m/s to 650m/s (250m/s decrease)
  • AC/10 - Projectile speed decreased from 1100m/s to 950m/s (150m/s decrease)

This is the AC/20 projectile speed we had in closed beta, so more of a return to normal rather than a nerf...Probably re-adjusted to suit post HSR tweaks than anything else??

Hehe. I've got a couple other accounts that receive some odd stuff on rare occasion I never get on my main one.

Could the speed nerf's be done to fix hit detection issues? If the Ac/20 is a bit slower, but the hits actually register damage on lights, I'll take it. Threw 6 AC/20 shots into a spider a few days ago, and the thing just looked annoyed.

Try 2x PPC + 2x AC 5. It is spider spray!

I don't think that can be it, because PGI doesn't usually balance the game around experienced players. They prefer to use the Silent Majority™.

Curious about this choice of theirs. How can they balance the game around the silent majority when they are...well...silent.
If they are not vocal how do they know what they want? Mind reading? So psychic is a game development position?
I didn't think I would live to see the day.

You won't if you run a light mech. 2x PPC + 2x AC 5 murders them... like a fat kid does to a bowl of cornflakes.

The AC 5s also have higher DPS. :) Trust me. The end result is the same as before and in some ways... worse.

I don't run a light mech, so I can live with that. Hell, if it curbs some of the matches with 6 lights running around, I really don't have a problem with this.

theres nothing wrong with LBX 10, AC2, or flamers they are niche weapons and do there intended jobs well.

The LBX only does its job well if its job is "trick bad players into using a trash weapon."

The LBX is not a good weapon in really ANY shape or form, and the only folks who think it is don't really understand how the game works.

But feel free to rage and tell us how it's good for killing light mechs (protip: it's actually one of the worst weapons possible against light mechs), or talk about how awesome its critical damage is, so I have an excuse to use the image macro of the guy in the bus again.

I'm pretty sure that 650m/s is the same velocity the ac20 had in early-mid closed beta. If that's the case I wouldn't worry about hit detection - most spiders will just jump over the projectiles like Mario over whatever those bullet things were called.

As an HBK-4G AC20 pilot my excitement about that change is limited.

Someone needs to incorporate the fishing rod controller into that someday.

Both were being used too often for long range sniping. AC10 is largely unused precisely because the AC20 is just so much better. With this change the AC10 becomes the premier long range heavy cannon while the AC20 is reduced to short range effectiveness.

A good change imo.

People were hitting light mechs going 94mph or 152kph with a artillery cannon shooting a 203mm shell.

Same thing with a AC 10

This also will change extreme range shots. So your not hit buy magic BB at 600 meters when the guns has a 270m range and a 450m range.

Oh. And I thought the idea of people of the Steering Wheel Underhive was funny. But now I am imaging a fishing rod underhive.

Edit, to be on topic:

They should have just addressed the "bonus" range directly - either by shortening it or making the damage fall-off curve more dramatic.
