Nothing any more.

It used to have the offset of being able to mount slightly heavier weapons, and still (temporarily) have an equivalent / higher speed to the Locust.

Now... even with MASC, it'll take a similar to marginally heavier loud out, for being slower and less agile.
The Locust is superior in every way.

Pre and post MASC actually being introduced.

'Actual' MASC would have been a +33% speed boost (MASC being +50% walking speed, which is 2/3 of MWO's max speed. So +1/3), and the bonuses outweighed just using a bigger engine.
Meaning the slower Flea, with its smaller engine, would have ended up being able to have bursts of Locust style speed, with an extra 1-2T of weight to play with.

Now that MASC for the Flea would provide a +10% speed boost, and some mobility boosts, but it's not faster / better than just having a bigger engine, which the Flea can't take, and it means it's potentially not efficient enough to even bother putting MASC on.

At this point, you have a 20T Chicken Walker mech, with a max engine of about 145, maybe up to 170.
That for all intents and purposes is the same or worse than the Locust we already have.
Anything the Flea can do, the Locust can do, but generally faster.

Ah, to have the Locust IIC and finally be able to Locust when I CW. The Flea would be neat, but the Locust is better.

Locust IIC would be a beast. I mean it. 9 energy hardpoints baby? Stock speed with Standard 20 already 130 kph? Upgrade two an XL225 still gives you 1.5 tons and gives you 146 kph without tweak.

Thx to clan Endo/Ferro 24 slots free, 8 tons. 8 ersmalls, 1 smlplz, +3 Heatsinks for example.
Other variants bring missile slots, nice with lightweight clan missiles. Or ballistic slots for 3 mgs per arm (+ possible inflation). With Clan mgs only weighing 1 ton for 3. 6 MGs + 2 ton ammo + perhaps 2 medium wubs?

Let's call it the Sub Par vs. Wub Par (because it's setting the standard, get it?) Endo Steel Plague Match.

We should cycle through who's on Team Con and Team Source, to normalize for skill level. I have no doubt that Tim or Ovi (or a large number of pilots from this thread) would clean my clock with Sources 2+3 Christmas Wub Par Rave build. Let's rotate at least once, for good sportsmanship and in the interest of Science™.

I can provide 1 Premium Time slot towards uneven teams (would just need one more to allow it) and mediate.

I may try sources build tonight... but I don't like it as a concept, specially not on the 1E.

I'm amazing at theory and teaching, but every single one of my Locust students has surpassed me massively.
(Part of it may be I ignore my own rules, but you know~)

This knowledge makes me a pretty damn good Locust Hunter though.

I first dipped my toe into light mechs playing Spiders and while I liked them I didn't learn nearly as much or sid nearly as well as I did when I started playing Locusts. I would like to learn more as it has become my favorite light I have played.
