NGNG 100, Russ and company discuss the need for a buff of the Oxide, as it has not been as competitive as desired. (And hopefully, it would be a trend toward fixing other units like the Pretty Baby or Grid Iron to reach their potential)
http://www.nogutsnog...a0fdfd65fcbe691

So poll away!

Feel free to post ideas also, both for the Oxide and for what you would buff in another Hero, and why.

(edited to include the Golden Girl to options)
(edited edited to allow multiple choice for the second poll. I do not feel multiple choice is the way to go for the Oxide.)

You know they aren't going to do the missile thing... but I want it! Hopefully they'll do the ballistics route and put them in the arms or side torsos.

For me, I can only comment so much on the Oxide, as a guy who avoids lights that are not the Locust. But I think it would set a great precedent that they might actually go back and make some of these heros more appealing.

As a die hard Medium Jock, it was tough to choose between the YLW and GI, but I love HBKs a lot, and I think the Grid Iron is soooo close to being really great. IMO, and many seem to agree, that reducing the Ballistic to a single slot, and buffing the LT hardpoints to a dual Missile slot. A higher engine cap would be kinda nice too.

I agree wholeheartedly, but the Pretty Baby (and Awesomes in general) have been so forlorn and miserable for so long, I just had to give them some love.

Oxide:
- Jumpjets (maximum 2) or
- 1 Energy hardpoint in the Head.

Heroes?
- YLW, Pretty Baby and Grid Iron.

(you could change the pool to accept a vote in more than one option)

This is a bad thing?

The number one fix I'd apply is changing the CT hardpoints to 2 energy. That would both retain the flavor of Jenner weapon balance and make it distinct from the other Jenners (which are energy on the arms and missiles on the CT).

Not distinct enough.

That would both retain the flavor of Jenner weapon balance and make it distinct from the other Jenners (which are energy on the arms and missiles on the CT). Allowing up to 2 JJs is a possibility, but I'd rather keep it firmly on the ground and perhaps boost its turn and twist speeds a bit more.

Edit: Poll has no "other" option.

Cicada 5X it isnt on the pool and it need some love
one extra lasser hard point in the head or ct
the jenner is a lot better caring the present loadout of the 5X.

The 5X is slow and a huge target
out of place by lore its a mech made with huge fire power with horrible heat. takeing out larger mechs a proper asassin
but its missing a bit more fire power

or speed
the Cicada supose o be counter the Locust

Giving a missile heavy jenner jumpjets is utter stupidity. It will become the old splatapult only extremely hard to hit this time around.

Give it a bigger engine and it will be very overpowered against bigger foes...because the SSRM allows it to not require aiming as it lightning zips around mechs.

Ballistics make no sense since its a light and its already ammo-dependent.

Twist/turn buff.. its a jenner and it already has a REALLY good turn and twist rate. No need.

More missiles is absurd. It already has the equivalent of a heavier of-the-medium mech's firepower.

The energy hardpoint in the head makes a ton of sense. It allows a TAG at least for the LRM builds and a medium laser for SRM/SSRM builds to fall back upon when their ammo runs out. Please do the same for the catapult A1.

I think the nerfs for the Oxide (deceleration and whatever other negative quirks) need to be pulled back, same with PB, then I think it should be fine.

Golden Boy, Grid Iron, Pretty Baby, and Fang all need buffs. Then again more than half the mechs in this game need a buff.

that was intentional, as we could list forever our "wish list" but most people have no understanding of balance, and if we just open things up, this gets silly fast. For instance, I intentionally did not allow for dual energy, as it would unbalance the firepower potential (IMO), whereas as single allows for either a backup weapon, or TAG, which would keep with the original design concept. (Or allow for if in the CT a large or large pulse, and a totally different, but controlled approach)

Speed, Hardpoints, Agility and JJ are really the only viable options for modifications (ECM would be P2W, for instance, since no other Jenner mounts one), Armor is what it is, and Hit Box fixes would be for the Chassis as a whole.

That said, if enough requests, and good enough reasons are presented, I may add an "other" option too.

a jenner withouth JJs, just doesn't seem right. The other hero mechs I don't really think need buffs, except maybe the GRID IRON. Hunchie has not much more need than once ballistic, when you're only 50 tons your weapons become limited on ballistic due to weight restriction, an extra missle slot instead I think is more logical.

WYSIWIG. Oxide is fine the way it is. Jenners are already a prime threat as light mechs along with spiders.

If they are concerned about mechs being competitive. Lets start first with the game being fully viable first. UI 2.0, Fix MM, review weapons balancing issues, disconnects, in-game VoIP or communication function trees, etc. The list goes on and I'd rather have that than any buff, how about an entire game buff?

This poll also lacks the option for users to vote against any buffs at all.

Jenners may be, but the Oxide isn't.

Both common sense and the numbers (as seen by the devs) indicate this.

Those are all valid issues that should be harder to solve than tweaking some files (especially since the Oxide apparently had 6 missile slots to begin with, so they probably still have the art assets, etc, necessary to fix it).

You're poll also is bias and lacks the option for users to vote against buffs.
That's because he overestimated the intelligence of the user base.

The whole notion of mechs that you can only buy using real money is a bad aspect of this game which should be done away with.

The X-5 needs AMS
The Golden Boy is just a slower KTO 18 with 1 less missile hardpoint
The YLW needs to become or have an additional YLW2
The Gridiron should always have just been the hunchback 4N I'd have bought a 4N.
The Fang just needs collisions, like all dragons just need collisions.

first choice would be a lone energy slot in the head, CT and it's a bigger Locust 3M. that way there's an energy slot but no one is tossing ERLLs onto them.
second choice would be a lone count'em 1 jump jet.

that's really about it on the oxide.

as for grid iron i would vote the 2/1 ballistic/missile to 1/2 change. 1 missile slot isn;t enough and 2 ballistic (barring Mgs) is really putting all your firepower in one hunch if you can fit it in. 1 ballistic is enough.
