lol on some peoples machines this buggy game can only run on lowest resolution and settings.players are giving feedback on the new effect you are only flaming legitimate posts.i bet your Grid Iron is a cheerleader with a football player statue on the dashboard.

I have a grid iron with alittle girlie on the dash board, and i'm against any feature likely to reduce this games population.

OMG, some of you guys get a headache/stomachache/motion sickness/diarrhea from every other change added to the game.

I got news for you...., you just may not be cut out to play this. :(

I didn't suffer from motion sickness, about cross hair shake.

Other than well, this wasn't worth the development time when so many important things are over a year late from the promised introduction and the glass brings nothing good to the game, and buggers up the beautiful looking maps we fight on, I havn't got that much issue with it.

What I do have an issue with are things that are pointless and are going to reduce the games critically low population to an even lower level.

PGI removed the player counter, to hide how low the active population is ( world of warplanes only has about nine thousand active players and are quite happy to show these numbers, but PGI removed theirs)

Match maker can't make good matches, its because there isn't enough people playing, so it shoves everyone in together

PGI refused to make split ques over 3pv like it promised , because there are not enough people.

In around april PGI plan to lift the 4 person restriction on premades and allow the 12 mans to pick over pug corpses, why, because there are not enough people, (which is going to be another disaster to the population as noobs get rofl stomped by top mech premades)

With all this going on we have seller comments from people like the one, I picked at random saying if you don't like it you know where the door is.

From this mentality, you'd think mechwarrior online has a population like world of war craft, well it hasn't

I just have to face palm and shake my head sadly, at those making such comments, because people that say leave must really, really want this game to crash and burn

QQ everywhere -.-

I wear glasses ... and had the same problem at the beginning... but after fiew days my eyes adapted the glasses and now I feel motion sick wothout! :-)
When I first time played a FPShooter I got real bad motion sickness after 10 minutes.
Playing more and more it's gone. For years now I can play a lot of hours non-stop without feeling sick anymore! It's all about adaptation.

Personaly I'm looking forward for the day/patch when I can see my cockpit glass breaking after headshot! :-)

That would work for anything up to say an AC2 round, but anything larger, wouldn't look like that small I imagine, and laser fire would not leave bullet hole cracks either, more of a molten slag running down I would imagine, as is described in fiction.

I still feel all the glass does is take away from environment detail, on manifold it looks like the northern lights are plastered to my windshield. I'm not getting sick but there is definitely alot more eye strain on some maps. i'd rather see it removed and have more of a windshield damage type thing implemented. Guess i'll wait and see what this "normalization" does to it. Right now I'm just glad I didn't buy any clan packages.

I have to get my glasses updated before I can play maybe more then 3-4 games for the evening. Right now, I wear Transition lenses. If anyone has worn these type lenses you will spend alot of time looking in a very small path of vision. the lens itself is 2.5 magnification on the top across about 3 inches of lens. On the bottom it's 3.5 magnification, only in the middle half inch.

As you focus on items your eye moves from a broad view of the world focused down to a single point, near the bottom of the lens. The rest of your lens is naturally blurry to force the eye to do this. If you ever get the glasses dirty your eyes spend alot of time trying to look around the dirt. Imagine your eyeball kind of shifting back and forth to look around very small bits of dirt.

Now, when I play, my eyes are attempting to do that exact same thing across the entire area of my glasses. This means my eyes are constantly attempting to refocus the entire time. The resulting eye strain is extremely painful after about 4-5 games. This also means my ability to shoot at any longer range target is completely gone.

Well, there is a really easy fix for this. Go to your local optician and ask him if you need glasses (People complaining about eyestrain is a very good indicator that they are either playing in the wrong lighting conditions or need glasses/a different strength of glasses).

It can be, but it isn't necessarily. I just passed my exam and have no issues of any kind (in fact, my right eye is one of the best they've ever seen acuity wise). I still get eye strain. In this case, it's a eye/brain issue where the eye/brain is telling the body to do something that it doesn't need to in order to focus, causing some strain on the eyes, and it's an issue for some regardless of eye quality.

Well, one of the reasons I asked about all that stuff in my earlier post would be to find out who else besides me was such a pig with his glasses (playing form time to time with them when they are 2 days uncleaned, which makes me strain my eyes quite hard to eliminate all the dirt blobs/ look around them) and see if that was one of the points.

Another major point could naturally be "transitonal-zone" glasses, as they seem quite tough to get used (my mother hates them) to, espcially for taxing works infront of a monitor.

Hmmm, could it eventually be a help if one had a "correction-algorithm" to give the glass pane of the cockpit the "correct" optical properties as we would need our glasses (+/- dioptries/stigmathism/astigmathism)?

Just gets mo´ int´restin´ by the minute ...

Dang, nearly fogot to ask ...

Who of you was Marine/Soldier and knows the term "300-yard-stare" ?
Is that correlating to a facial expression of shell-shoked and dazed soldiers or to the mode of visual acquiring a target through looking in some direction without focusing, and letting motion betray itself ?

If 300yard-staring was the latter, try that.
?
Why that,nao ???!?!?1

Mostly I´m too stoned to properly fixate a given/intended target point on a Mech for longer/with a degree of accuracy, so I´m starting to 300-yards-stare and twitch towards new things on the screen ... eh, even works sometimes , hehehe .

Hmmm you know, maybe in the year where all this is happening (3051?), they are using Gorilla Glass 7 which can 100% resist AC/2 and AC/5 rounds but can exhibit some cracks with AC/10 and AC/20. :D

And for laser, well... we could apply the same idea, small lasers do not really damage glass but stronger ones could leave traces of molten glass like this updated screenshot.

I think the effect need to be subtle. Remember this is a static image, you cannot see the effect it all it's glory. In movement you would see the distorded image from molten glass react with scenery so like I said it needs to be not too much otherwise you know what would happen, some would complain.

Again you need to remember that all this cosmetic tuning need to happen ONLY when taking damage to the head (cockpit) so as it does not kick in too often.

This only show that I'm having fun playing with an image and share ideas. It may be easy to play with a static image but it must be a real challenge to add the a game engine.

Foggy cockpit class is great. With this added feature it gives pgi an excuse to tone down the detail on the maps because people wont be able to see it unless players are dead and just watching the action. Only allowed toggled for a feature is 3pv, because that is fair. Right? Riiiiiiiight.

I am also suffering from headaches, on some maps the headaches start within minutes, this is far worse than the problems I have with "3d" films.

The glass effect has made the game unplayable for me. I understand this does not affect everyone but in my case it is a major issue.

It's funny, I don't even notice the effect while I'm playing, but in spectator mode, I notice it quite a bit! I appreciate the immersion and feel bad for those getting sick. Really sorry. But I like it!

This "glass upgrade" is a total fail. I waisted on my PC 1000$ and hundreds $$$ more on video card upgrades to keep it on performance edge for clear picture. I have enough strain on my eyes at work to make more at home. At home I want to relax. And now this. Unplayable, eyes-hurting BS. Plz make it possible to turn this 'feature' off.

You can turn it off with one line added to your user cfg file, but we've been told not to use it (that one line) because it's unclear if its against the rules or not. I would like to know the outcome. also some people have noted a 20-25% FPS increase by using this workaround and IMHO it doesn't give an advantage. see this locked thread

Just to make sure I'll quote Destineds post here:

I highlighted the important part of that message for you. As far as I know, the line will no longer work after the next patch. That's the part that is being investigated.

So please do not advertise it any further!

Quote

Q: Can I change my user.cfg file?

A: Yes. This is the only file open to user modification. We understand that at times there can be a need to modify the user.cfg, for example certain joystick configurations are not fully implemented on the in-game options screen and may require manual configuration through this file. As long as you are editing the user.cfg file in good faith, this is not a concern. As always, Support will not be able to troubleshoot or support clients that have modifications to this file. Users can request via Support ticket or forum post that the developers open additional parameters in the user.cfg, and we will determine if the request is reasonable.

Q: May I use graphical enhancements through third-party applications, such as SweetFX or other CBar modifiers to enhance my graphical performance?

A: We do not encourage the use of these types of modifications and in particular should we detect the use of any modification that does any of the following we reserve the right to suspend/ban the account responsible.

a) Alters visibility significantly from the original product to gain unfair tactical advantages
b ) Changes game assets sounds, models, or maps, to gain tactical advantages
c) Attempts to circumvent the map selection process
d) Exploits bugs or existing game mechanics

At this point in time their are enough people complaining about issues caused by this feature, as an intearm fix can this be allowed or a toggle or command line to turn just the glass off in the cfg file.

and to quote you, I'm not trying to be a ***** but

Egomane said:

That was an official IGP statement to the matter. This does include the "Do not use it!" part.

Yeah, I know... I'm just a volunteer so what do I know... yadda, yadda, yadda. If you do not trust that statement, I suggest sending a mail to support@mwomercs.com and ask there, but the GMs will tell you the same thing.

I will however close this thread now, for I see way to much attempts to justify the usage of a currently official "do not use" function.

If you disagree with the way IGP or PGI handle this situation, you are free to critize this without any such attempts. We still have plenty of threads on cockpit glass where you can do so

So I disagree with how this was implemented and the FPS drop that it has caused due to lack of optimization and trying to implement something without testing it completely.

Thx for the tip, but I try not to alter intended by developers things. Playing vanilla whenever possible. But I also expect developers to listen to players about their product. Until this 'upgrade' get fixed one way or another I just switch to Skyrim or LoL to spend my time meanwhile. Btw Skyrim has good picture on my PC. Sometimes I just stare to the sky :D

Alright, I can respect that position. I just don't see it the same way, since we all play under different conditions already. Some are playing with heat vision, or night vision, some using 3pv, turning their gamma up, or using advanced zoom. Yet, we don't see that as unfair, because anyone has the choice to change their view in the same way. If they choose not to, then they can't claim a disadvantage because it was their own choice.

So a cockpit glass toggle would be the same way. The players that like the immersion couldn't claim it's an unfair disadvantage, because they chose to not use the toggle.

Gosh.
Look at you. This **** looks loke blackmail to me. You think that's ok? Forcing PGI to change something by changing the cfg file? That's cheating. What the heck is wrong with you guys? What you do is just not ok!
I honestly hope, PGI will ban you cheater soon and forever.
Go and play Hello Kitty online.
