Returned after a long absence. Any desire I have to play is quickly sapped away when I have to navigate this new UI. Why is so much real-estate (center) chewed up by useless info? Large mech on a right side, serving no function, with tiny text (which blends into the light of the background - brilliant). Clicking on a mech in my bay doesn't even show me the damn LOADOUT unless I go prodding around?

I haven't even tried to refit a mech, because it's soo much shit to deal with at once. And that saddens me, greatly. The old UI was clunky, but it was also fast and easy to navigate - I never would have thought I'd actually like to see it again.

I miss being able to click on parts of the mech model to select that piece in the loadout screen. Feels like we got less features with the new ui. Also my friend list takes 15 seconds or so to load up, making getting ready in group very slow. It also took me a while to figure out where the "check out" button was. I dread trying to explain this new ui to a new player. It does look pretty though i guess...

Two suggestions the other day when buying a new mech.

First, when you click BUY, it presents you with the "SELECT PURCHASE METHOD" screen.
It is defaulted to MC. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remove the check from this and let the user input the check. Or default to cbills. I have friends who mistakenly bought mechs with MC before, please don't let this happen.

Second, "STORE PURCHASE" confirmation screen, the cbills aren't seperated by comas. So 7,000,000 CB shows as 7000000 CB. Since you have comas everywhere else, I'm sure it's an oversight.

Not going to read through 1000+ replies. I'm sure all this has been said before, but I need to post anyway to vent frustration. Since you adverticed that the new UI is easy to modify here are some small quick usability fixes that you can implement before the more time consuming smurfy-interface and such.

- Allow multiple choises in game mode select
- Show installed engine type
- Show installed modules
- Show hardpoint distribution and where installed weapons are
- Show amount of heatsinks
- Show if beagle is installed
- Show equipped modules and equipment in inventory with the information on which mech it's installed
- Change logout to exit game (this game has no need for multiple accounts)
- Increase font size or at least change to a more readable font
- Make the poput when pushing back from mech configuration ask if you want to save changes
- Make CB default purchase method
edit: (more things that come to mind)
- double-click to install and remove components
- when grouping weapons in mechbay allow setting a group to chain fire

If your new UI and it's components are now properly coded for easy modification as adverticed, these shouldn't take more than a day or so to fix and would improve the usability of the UI immensely.

UI 2.0 is so bad that I just can't play the game anymore, finding and swapping engines in the mech bay used to take me seconds, now I only have to look at the mech bay to think "**** this shit" and quit the game for another week. I would rather keep the old mech bay FOREVER than suffer this piece of dog shit.

Having not logged on for months after the game got really stale and upon getting greeted by the new UI I was expecting good things. Unfortunately it is an utter pile of shite. It went from reasonably functional to unbelievably clunky and frustrating.

The mechlab used to be reasonably easily navigated, now some things look very small on a 1920x1200 24" monitor, I shudder to think what would happen with higher pixel densities. Why does the pop up screen showing the load out not appear every time you hover over a mech? Why does the list of various bits of equipment take up more than half the screen but the little box where you drop the equipment in is the size of two equipment cards? Why can I not see what engine is in the mech?

Yes, while it is nice to see what the acceleration is it really isn't nearly as useful as it is to easily see what equipment you have on the mech. Half the numbers don't even make sense.

Can you give us a hotfix to remove UI 2.0? Quite frankly whoever designed this UI ought to start looking for a new job, preferably far away from UX. Just look at the fact that you need a 12 minute long video to show it off.

To keep track of my 86 mechs, more than 120 engines and more than 20 modules, i keep a piece of paper near the keyboard, more practical than a spreadsheet file as I don't have to ALT+TAB from fullscreen all the time, feels like good old 80's when i had Commodore 64

-Many important buttons, such as accepting changes on a load out or colour scheme, or the button to open social, or the x to close social are all very small buttons.

-In the store there doesn't seem to be a way to sort mechs by tonnage class or even examine the loadouts and equipment of what you're buying?

-In the mechlab it should be easier to select a mech to edit, perhaps double clicking on its picture?

-In mechlab there used to be a little map of the mech that you could click on to navigate the sections, as well as clicking on the mech itself. Why is this functionality gone?

Ok, stop to think about this for a sec. The new UI has a "store" where you buy mechs. But you can't see anything about the mech's before buying them. What does that say about the new UI? It means that obviously PGI knew the new UI is crap (or as they like to say: a work-in-progress), and that they released it in a rush just to keep people from complaining about another broken deadline.

Unfortunately your advice on this matter, and all the rest of our advice on every aspect of the new UI that is messed up, is falling on deaf ears because they KNEW it was crap/incomplete when they released it. The only benefit of voicing our comments here is to vent frustration. But venting can only work for so long, as we've heard from some gamers who started playing this game early on, and have quit altogether.

Can you believe you have to use a third party, non-affiliated website (who is not getting compensated from PGI), to check out hard-points before buying a mech? That is unheard of! The gameplay is awesome but the mechlab is half the fun. I really worry about how this cool game is going to survive with them at the helm.

WAKE UP PIRANHA, DO WHAT'S RIGHT!

I rarely post on the forums, but many of you will probably recognize me from in game... that is because I have played this game pretty much every day since the beginning of closed beta a couple years back. With more than 20,000 MWO drops to date, I have a pretty good feel for the progression of MWO since it`s inception to date. With that said, I have one thing to say:

UI 2.0 is bad and PGI should feel bad for making it.

Seriously... go back to the old UI. I`m not going to list off everything wrong with the new UI because it would take me too long to do, and frankly I don`t really care enough to waste my time repeating everything in this thread. The worst thing is that I can`t even group up with my friends or people I talk to in game because apparently my friend list is too big and I can`t even open it anymore without the game crashing.

I have put up with EVERYTHING that PGI has screwed up on in the last couple years, but this abomination that is UI 2.0 is the final straw. I`m done with MWO for a while... take it easy kids. Star Citizen dog fighting module can`t come out soon enough.

I got some friends to come back that had played during Beta thanks to the "free centurion" giveaway. So thanks for that it worked and I've been playing with my friends. They however do not understand a lot of the features as they were not around with after they came out. The UI is very confusing. They can't tell which mechs they need to purchase, what hardpoints and engines are on them and it's really frustrating for them.

One of my friends got upset after saving up for the zoom module to find out that he couldn't purchase it because of pilot skills needed. I had to explain how to unlock it, how to convert GXP from other XP. He was read to quit when he thought of how much grinding there would be thankfully he was able to convert GXP.

Today he again was cursing at the developers because the new UI does not explain the benefits of Endo Steel Structure and FF armor. I of course explained it to him since I already knew and told him the old UI did a good job of explaining it. I went and checked and sure enough the new UI does not explain those upgrades at all.

The new "come back feature" worked but the UI needs some major improvements for those that don't know the game. As my friend said "The game is nice but the Dev's really screwed up with this interface".

I figured it was best to give you perspective from a new player.

How do I sell a Mech? There is no obvious cue.

What is on my Mech while in Mechlab and how many free slots are left? There needs to be an entire Mech layout with the area active highlighted.

These should be fixed first.

UI 2.0 is (censored), (censored), (censored)! I want previous UI back or return my money back which I spent just few days before you brought this (censored) UI 2.0! I have not played since that time because this is a waste of time and lost of fun. I play other game instead and I am not going to wait about a year when 2.0 will be commendable. So, is it possible to get money back which I paid to have fun in UI 1.0, not this shitty UI 2.0? Omg, I am so angry!

UI 2.0 is not very intuitive nor easy to get used to but...do you really want to quit because of UI and mechlab only? you realise you're sprending most time in battle?
be patient and read the forum for help on getting used to it...and keep having fun playing!!!
if it's the game in it self you are disappointed with ...it's your right...but the UI only is not worth quitting
please consider staying...the bigger the palyerbase the more fun battles are... :(

Yes, I definitely quit to play because of new mech lab UI. Tweaking of mech was a part of fun but now it is a nightmare. There are so many great games around. I will not cry long time. I only periodically start launcher to check if there is a new patch to check if UI had been changed. No luck so far.

finding modules/engines = horrible nightmare.

unlocking skills is equally nightmarish clickfest.

store/purchaseable/inventory all seem so redundant. why cant inventory display equipped stuff too?

I am not playing at the moment as well. I will not be trolled by unreadable fonts.
It is not fun. And if a spare time activity is not fun then you should stop.

It is as simple as that.
