Too many energy HPs for it to be OP. Too many heat problems.

Well maybe we will see the second coming of the slaserback in the slaserstarter... On smurfy you can get a max speed, max armor, ams, 8sl, with 48% heat efficiency. Or cut a tiny bit of speed and armor and ams and get 56%.

I see no reason for the Ember to not be the best Firestarter. The mech is superior to the Jenner F.

Solution is like that of any other light: Don't let it get close and kill it if it does.

Really? I like the Ember, but the distinct lack of torso pitch (can't really look up or down) really feels weird to me, especially when fighting on sloped terrain. The Jenner on the other hand, feels like an extension of my wrist. Surprised to hear you say that.

Example: Death's Knell. I bought it a long time ago, I just never feel like using it. Ember, on the other hand, has the same energy hardpoints in the arms but actually has JJ's and 4 bonus ballistic hardpoints! That is the most obvious example of one chassis completely invalidating another.

Well that, and the extra 10 tons it carries...it's like saying a Protector completely invalidates a Jester, or a Heavy Metal invalidating a Dragon Slayer. All of which are true, but wait until drop weight restrictions are added. Then if you only have 25tons left over, then TDK might be your choice...if you were to choose it over the ECM variant that is...

Somebody in my unit did the same thing yesterday in their JR7-F, is it the mech or a mixture of skill/luck/opportunity/lack of skill in opponent?

Good showing either way! :P

I don't doubt that these things can pack a punch but they are not very stout. I spent a few hours legging them last night in my CDA-2A.

They die just as fast as a mondo will.

Wow!
So fast.
Much jump.
No missiles?
Such light.
Many hardpoints.
Few weapons.

This is basically the only problem with it but its list of benefits over the Jenner make it a non-issue.

But the Jenner is using the "arms" to look up, not the torso.

Yes, it is OP. Just like Spiders and Jenners. At least till they give us knock down.

Light mechs pilots are not good. Anyone running around hitting every building, mountain and other mechs would not only be damaged, but eventually woud just fall down. They are light, but they don´t receive punishment from gravity and nature like the others. For instance, a small light mech would not be able to RUN in deep water, its too much resistance. And that´s a great strategic planning for any team or heavier pilots. Same thing with sand.

And I´ve seem a lot of times this too: an army of lights can beat any team. It´s absurd. A bunch of lights bumping at each other, hitting buildings, being hit while on air, etc, would be falling down like flies. A heavy attack on its little legs would put them to the ground.

Light mechs are scouts and light fighters. They could never face any mech heavier and better armored. But we see these little ******** taking down an Atlas. Of course all light mech lovers will say otherwise, that´s obvious. But until they get physics right, lights will be op and this game will be broken.

Nope, but not easily destroyed, as I used to do with a freakin spider while I was so close to it that it could just smash me or knock me down.

Is that so hard to understand? Look game dynamics: a single spider/jenner/whatever appear and EVERYONE wants to kill it fast. Why? Because they spot for lrms (scout job, good), AND they take too much time to die while they just keep running and firing around like there´s no logical physics in that world (Oh, wait, it doesn´t). I shoot my ac20 at an titanic Atlas and it moves its shoulder. I shoot it at a puny Spider/Jenner/whatever, it gets cored (IF SO) and keeps moving. My god, man, it should be thrown back and to the ground like a little toy.

Focus on what´s important: PHYSICS.

Actually it's a game dude, so physics come second to fun. If the pecking order went light<medium<heavy<assault then why would anybody bother to bring anything other than an assault? 12 atlas vs 12 atlas every match. No thankyou.

It is a game, an unbalanced one for sure. And they try to make it more "realistic", I recon. But they avoid touching this to not upset most players.

Remember: falling to the ground goes both ways: it´s easier to take down a ligh mech, but it recovers faster too. But an Assault going to the ground for bad piloting or being severe hit in the legs... it would be lethal. It would take a much longer time to recover.

And nope, I would not play with an Atlas. I´m very good with mediuns. And stopped playing with lights because it´s too easy.

But whatever, I see how this is going to be already...

If it is so easy, how about you get good enough you can make it a level where your opponents can actually aim...how come it is usually at like 9-14% played at a time with up to 40% heavies or assaults.

Being a light is only easy so long as your opponents are bad. One good player will put you out of your misery in seconds. Of course if you make a fresh account and play people in their cadet bonus as a light...yeah super easy!

To us oldies/founders/betapeeps its like a (back then) max speed deaths knell with the usual 4 ML but now it has more armor, jumpjets and FOUR machine guns aka glorious!
