At the very least a city map would give the other side (brawlers/flankers) an equally competitive map where short range weapons are powerful.

It's called Crimson Straits. No fooling. Go on out to Isla de Muerta opposite the port. Some calle it Sniper Island. You're usually good there till half your team is dead, then it's your turn.
Have fun.

Would be a pleasant surprise if along with the next map they released an arena for 1 on 1 matches and perhaps a spectator mode that didn't require your being dead to attend the match.

Just as a note here,
From a slightly similar game (MW:LL) using the same engine, some of the best maps, took around a year to produce. Now these maps were not the only thing the artists did, so that could explain some of the time put in. But it did take them quite a bit design and testing time to get things right. And these designers knew there way around the CryEngine interface.
The (MW:LL) map design team has started up again and is back into designing and producing unreleased and new maps. The elements they use to layout, build, create, design and produce the maps are not restricted and most are free to download. The in-engine art elements are where MWO and MW:LL differ, CryEngine has some default elements built in but the sizes are all referenced for "man sized" environments.
There is the "Legal" issue with using any of the Crysis game elements within this game, and the fact that none of the MWO map elements have been released. (or even a library of the current and future use designed assets) - again Legal issues.
PGI states there are many reasons for not spending any time on building a map based editor, their Lawyers and Investors have some issues with releasing their designed elements. As well as, who owns the Player based designed maps, both during design and after completion.
Even if there was a map editor, how would the designer test it? Yes you could "fly around" the environment, but placing working Mech's within this test area becomes an issue. It couldn't be uploaded to the server for play test, and since everything is server authoritive, it becomes rather difficult to "live test". The Map editor nearly becomes a separate game unto itself. And a lot of the "protected code" would need to be "given away" to the public for that to happen. Many bad issues could happen after that.
Now all that being said, I would still like to see a map editor designed and released. I don't care if I can't actually have working Mech's walking the terrain. But I would like to see the idea's and designs that this community could produce. And with some of the latest free geo mapping tools that are out there, there could be options to physically Radar map real locations here on this Planet or even areas from the Mars data. ~ just saying.

All sorts of things I could think up were one available. who wouldn't want to fight on a dropship landing port, with multiple multi layer dropships that you can go into, or an underground super cave with glowing mushroom jungles?

I find myself playing less as there are no new maps. New Mechs are nice, but maps keep the game interesting.

@bryanekman Yep, a new map would be nice. Its now 4 months since the last one. Far away from the goal of, a map every 2 months.

@_Wieland_ yes we agree. We needed to shift resources around a bit to accommodate our mech delivery schedule.

Tourmaline Desert Night.
It would be nice if heavy weather can influence sensors, then Heavy Blizzard Alpine would be a totally different story. PGI, you taking notes?

Ooh, I'd love me some Solaris VII Steiner Coliseum. Fits the game style better.

They said the Jungle map was done but had some technical issues with some thing? They also were adding in some polishing as well.
