Obviously, you simply need to be more patient, oh and buy more MC! :D

LOL, that's what kills me. When it was announced in December that 2-12 would be returning, I bought a big old block of MC.
Now that Launch Module is described, it sounds like the hoops I'll have to jump through to find a match, will make an epic level story arc quest in EQ easier than a "Kill 10 swamp rats" in scope

4 man groups will still exist. And you know what? I've been in groups of 5, or 6, or 7 (and even more!). You know what we do? We break up into groups of 2, 3 or 4 and then drop and (here is the part you may be having a disconnect): we STILL HAVE FUN!! And when someone comes or goes, then we redo the groups as needed. And during the whole course of these events, we STILL HAVE FUN!!

This is not playing with your friends, the only difference between now and what's been described is there is NO chance of syncing so you MAY be able to play with the rest of your friends.

But, God Forbid we all decide to group together, we now get to be penalized with a time sink and lack of rewards.

Yeah, this builds all kinds of fun, and long term player retention.

It's ok though. I still think we're both pretty. :D

I'm looking damn sexy in this bikini, on my island paradise

Hey they fooled me into buying two packages. I however realized the disconnect between what they tout and what they deliver right after the way PP worked out. So no more money or patience from me. Obviously some folks don't mind being jerked around for months at a time and PGI/IGP thanks you. Lower your standards and open your wallet and things will get better, eventually.

I consider it playing with my friends. Not only are you talking about an extremely small subset of the player base in the first place, you're talking about an even smaller subset of that who can't deal with group size limitations.

Smaller than the population who uses 3PV that were catered to?

Or Smaller than the "Competitive" players who have been given 3 different ways to do their thing?

Does Russ's kid have more than 4 friends who play?

Maybe you should start up an organization to convince them that your group views are that important. I hear #savemwo is available! :D

Nah brah,
I have something else in mind, and I won't be giving floor time to Vas, so I might have a small chance of success.

"The "Smurfy" layout that the community has been asking for will make its first appearance in March" that is a quote from the command chair. Now i know people dont even bother to read the announcements/updates

I had really hoped by this late point in the thread you would have got it into your thick head that:
i) the community wants an interactive layout offering the same functionality as Smurfy
ii) PGI are NOT even planning to make an interactive layout offering the same functionality as Smurfy

This is stated in the podcast, and it's in OP of this thread.

So, when you say "Now i know people don't even bother to read the announcements/updates" it's just plain embarrassing.

I appreciate the digest, Peiper! [Although the commentary, I hate to be that Mechwarrior, is distracting and silly - Tyger].

Can't wait for a MWO tournament...maybe they can live stream 3 Highlanders, 3 Cataphracts, and 3 Shadow Hawks poparting for 15 minutes... /endsarcasm

Priceless.

I probably skimmed Peiper's details about certain things (because, it is inserted commentary), but for this game, it's so true. After laughing, you end up crying a little inside.

I'm thinking Russ believes that the finalists will involve Locusts, Trebuchets, Dragons, and Awesomes... preferably all of them in stock builds.

PGI's staff may be on the Bus to Abilene

"In an Abilene paradox a group of people collectively decide on a course of action that is counter to the preferences of many of the individuals in the group. It involves a common breakdown of group communication in which each member mistakenly believes that their own preferences are counter to the group's and, therefore, does not raise objections. A common phrase relating to the Abilene paradox is a desire to not "rock the boat"."

Good idea. Nothing can derail a good plan like including incompetent people. :D

I remember the exact same discussions happening with WoW; "I can't get 40 people together!" "I can't get 25 people together!" "I can't get 10 people together! WHY AM I BEING DENIED ACCESS TO CONTENT!!"

So Blizzard came up with a system so you could add pugs to your group to hit the amount needed.

In Arena? That's interesting, when did that happen?

I wonder if they used any sort of matchmaking for the Arena as well. You would think that some sort of Elo matchmaking would be useful for the competitive side of the game...

Lets not forget the KEY point

Who wants a smurphy style mechlab to "preview" your mech?

Who wants a smurphy style mechlab to "build" your mech?

Righto.

Lets get smurphy to rebuild his mechlab so it's like ui 2.0, and only shows us the smurphy style "everything" loadout when it's time to "Review" the mech, not build it.

Because, as PGI's own numbers clearly show, players are in love with the current mechlab in ui 2.0, it is great for new players.

I've been trying to get new players into this game for the last 2-3 months. UI2.0 has made that almost an impossible task. Even getting them on teamspeak and talking them through steps is such a turnoff to almost everyone I invite. The learning curve is even worse with 2.0 than 1.5. When I show them smurfy, the response is universally along the lines of, "Wait. I have to go to a third party site to learn this game?" I've had very little success with getting new players to stick with the game. It's really unfortunate, since I play with a group and we would love to be able to field a 12 man team.

Other games also have third party sites where you have to go to learn what an effective build is. For example: World of Warcraft.

"What do you mean I'm better off using a non tier piece in this field? I shouldn't have taken improved concussive shot? But Snake Trap is best trap!!!"
