Has anyone figured out how the House Faction scores are being calculated?

I wonder why there wasn't an explanation if it were something we should consider important in a faction tournament.

Faction score is based on the top 50 players in that faction, but in keeping with PGI tournament standards they don't show us useful information like the top 50 player scores in each faction to check this, or total players in each bracket to judge your rating amongst the participants.

For example, I know from my scores there were at least 700 FedSun players. If my score is now around 500th place, what percentile of FedSun players does that place me? All I know is that there are 499 players in front of me now, but out of how many? 700? 1000? 2000? I know I'm not competitive enough in this game to ever come close to 1st, 5th, maybe not even 50th for something that counts, but if they could tell us the total number of people in the brackets, knowing that you are 500/50000 means you're doing a LOT better than 500/700. Unfortunately we can only tell if we are 500/??? now.

Can anybody tell me where to see my own ranking while this is going on? Is that even possible.

So, this was an incremental step in the right direction. However, I think it would have been more interesting to allow grouped participation as well. Perhaps soon we can have another tournament allowing grouped factions to foster some actual teamwork and factional esprit de corps?

and if the other factions put up similar numbers that would be about 80,000 players opting in.

This is useful. Can everyone please post the lowest rank they've seen. It may indirectly give us an estimate of the size of the MWO player base.

Found out we had folks sync dropping to up their scores in at least two games I was in...which in turn was leading to "friendlies" being on both sides and hence one letting the other shoot them up for higher scores, or being able to team up for similar "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" manuevers.

Smart tactic. Banning teams wasn't doing much.

Sync-dropping premades have been plaguing MWO for years. If something can be exploited, it will be.

I want the Taurian Concordat :P. Not only that, as some have stated above, we want more factions sooner rather than later. Some of us just don't like the "big boys". ^_^

+1

Or at least a general 'peripheries' faction. Concordat, Canopian - heck even Marian - I'd be happy to share the outersphere.

It would be nice for PGI on completion to actually list the numbers that signed up for each faction, as well as list those who ended in the top 50 for their faction, especially as they are the ones contributing to the factions overall score.

Well when I got my first score I was 600 and something in Lyran Comonwealth colours now I'm 38 so we know there are over 600 of us

Well you get to much I'm better than you because I'm higher up the table so shut up noob so I'm generally against companies giving out to much detail, but there are times when you do like to see things like ok I'm 150 but how many people entered in my house and how many in the other houses, because as you say being 150 out of 200 is a lot worse than being 150 out of 2000, but at the end of the day which 150 you were won't make you a better player

Most I ever saw in any tourney was about 25K players, PGI reported just over 8K in the same tourney.

True team games would have to wait for the Launch Module.

There are roughly 40,000 matches. 10 matches per player. 4,000 players, who opted in (and were not excluded to the silly deadline).

Can't prove it was a sync drop to begin with, or that someone wasn't just "trying to get as many points as possible" by chewing all the bits off a target that was already crippled. All I can do is point a finger and state common sense here- that yes, it is quite possible and easy to fix a match and this is how it was done, and folks working well as a team before somehow ended up on opposite sides and suddenly, one player became much worse (but still did plenty of damage to others) when facing an old comrade. Perhaps he felt bad about shooting a friend on the wrong side. Plausible denial.

Us Lone Wolves are faction to ourselves, each and every one of us! That means we all win!

Right?

No one. *Sigh*. Guess I'll get something at the buffet -- drat, too late, Steiners. ^_^

Bear-in-mind that everyone who didn't Opt-In before Friday of this week won't count in the rankings, so this only gives a measure of the MW:O Playerbase that reads the forums in advance of weekends and opt-in to tournaments before they start.

Basically, it will provide a gross underestimate of the currently-playing playerbase,.
