Kamiko the Raging's rules to successful lrm spamming:
#1 Be aware of your own team's position at ALL TIMES.
#2 Be aware of your team's disposition towards fighting, at ALL TIMES.
#3 ALWAYS and I do mean ALWAYS have sufficient back up weapons.
#4 Get your own locks, DO NOT rely on others. You will cry if you do.
#5 Stay no further than 400m away from the fight. This is for 2 important reasons:
Number 1: Your missiles time to target. If you are 6-800m away spamming away, your little bundles of love will take 5-6 full seconds to get to their target. In 6 seconds a lot of defensive factors can come into play. they can find cover, they can be shielded by ams/ecm they can smack you in the face. If you are 250m away your missiles have sub 2 seconds to spread your amorous intentions! come here little jenner mwah!
Number 2: If you are close to the fight, you usually are close to team mates. This will stop the little terrier/spider/firestarter from humping your leg like an over excited retriever. Plus if they do go for it and hug your shins...there are friendlies close by to remove said miscreant.
#6
Be AGGRESSIVE. Make sure you have enough ammo to suppress enemies so other team mates can move up closer. Push TOWARDS an enemy, 9/10 times he will run. Most successful lrm mech I have ever ran is HBK4J. 1400+ ammo and 4 med lasers. We run x2 Wangs, x1 faster heavy and me. I either cover the wangs as they close, keeping enemy heads down or I soften nearby targets that they are not directly fighting. E.g if my mate is engaging target A, I'll be pounding target B-preventing him from getting involved.
#7 ALWAYS have an escape route in mind.
#8 Know the terrain and which cover you can ignore/abuse (anyone tells you cover works vs lrms, it's exactly ONE type of cover-most you CAN ignore...if you know how.)
#9 Use your direct fire weapons AS WELL as your lrms, this harks back to rule #5 as your missiles strip away armour watch for sections that grow weaker, faster and scalple those off.
#10 Feel no remorse nor pity for those you spam. If you do you'll end up like me and rarely play lrm mechs anymore.
