now the ones doing the 3+ kills in a 12-4 (or equivilant) loss i'll grant them the benefit of the doubt and that they are actually decent players. the 0 kill 1 assist 50dmg dire wolf that went off by itself at the start of the match and wouldn;t rejoin the rest of the team before dying alone- not so much.

yes I stuck my nose in the game today, and didn't have a bad go of it, but let's face it, an hour or two is all I can enjoy if I'm winning.
I saw some very good mechwarriors in matches with me as well as this happening to myself, and I don't think I'm a total slouch. I consider them good because of personal experience and/or reputation for them carrying, or generally being deadly sons-a-diddlies.
Good players getting killed fast because they read the minimap and saw their teammates with them only to watch them suddenly abandon them to the enemy at contact, leaving them surrounded and gunned down with very little damage or anything else while the others RUN AWAY and hide for the rest of the match, coming out to spray and pray at max range or LRM mechs that got mauled by the good players, then get mowed down one at a time as they try to make sure they're just the last guy dead with a deceptively useless high damage score but little to no assists because let's face it, they did worse than squat. They left their team to die then try to vulture and fail.
Cheeseball PvE rambo tactics. Hanging my teammates out to die only gives me a better score.
Combine that with (possible) increasing match throwing... it got strange quick.
So when the complaints start, it's usually because some people who could have saved the game if they'd been supported even just by someone taking the bullets or shooting someone for a little damage... I'm thinking we're blaming the wrong people sometimes for the failure.
Cowardice is a losing tactic and too many players are using this as a foundational philosophy for their piloting.

oh i know that feeling where "go to help someone " = "woohoo this other guy can get shot at now i'm outta here!" thinking of the guy you go to help. it's especially funny when its an assault abandoning the little urbie that came over to help them out. which i suppose technically in the assault's mind they did by covering their escape. granted an urbie could usually handle the mere 3 on 1 odds but it'd be nice for some backup
or the ever popular "hmm i only see two mechs we're all shooting at- our flank looks completely exposed i'll go lo.. <gets shot by the other 10 mechs the moment i turn the corner of our flank" technique i seem to have mastered.
i've haven't run into that many hiders personally. the closest i see tend just to disconnect mid match with a barely scratched mech once the team gets behind. the ones that i do see hiding tend to be missing several body parts/out of weapons/ammo. not many that fall into "i shall most cleverly stay hidden the whole match while everyone else gets shot then my shiny untouched mech shall lead us to victory singlehandedly!!!!" but that guy in the 99% atlas when it's 1-11 and he vultures a couple kills at the end doesn;t get much right to complain though.
but my point is directed more to the ones you never hear from (not even a "hey i just got killed by X mechs at <location>") until after they die and proceed to go off on everyone else. the good players will mention those minor details to let the rest of the team know where enemy mechs could be coming from, the ones i run across- well that would interfere on their complaing time- they may only have a couple of minutes before the match ends to get it all in you know. if there's legitmate complaints "i told you guys they were pushing e4 why didn;t you listen?" as everyone is in d4 facing d3 then that's another story. its the ones who contribute nothing but post death complaints that annoy me.
though the best matches are the ones we win despite our "suckiness" and the complainer has already discoed. favorite one was in alpine a long while back- we were down 0-4 whiner spends a few minutes telling us how we all are "idiot n00bs" before discoing. we fall back to base and win 12-9 when the other side pushes into the turrets

general consensus is the maps are lame. PGI start experimenting with larger maps! not that terrible snowy peak map that doesnt count.
heres a proper map.

just try and get a team to jump the gate and go defend/attack the enemy BEFORE they can shoot at the generators. Just try it. See how far you get. Why? Because people don't think that's smart. I can't think of why a team wouldn't spend a wave going out there, meeting the enemy on neutral ground and preserve all the turrets and keep the doors closed as long as possible or deplete the enemy wave so much it takes two waves to just get the doors down.

I see that advice even in Hold Territory (Counterattack) mode!
[edit: balanced by when I'm on the counter-attackers side where players get super-voip-ragey that people aren't shooting omega, so i guess there's that.... ]
