JJs are nice, but there's really not much you can do with ballistic/missile hardpoints wihin 35 tons. Quad MGs, streaks, some SRMs (was HSR fix in this patch after all?), all is ok, but all of that makes your viability depend heavily on how well your team is doing, so that an enemy assaultball with their armor still intact isn't something you can do anything about.
Add the issue of Raven leg hitboxes, and running out of ammo, and you get a mech which isn't very bad within its chassis only because just one of its brothers was a truly shining variant, with two others being mostly dust collectors.
If not for its ability to field twin AC2s, I would have regretted buying it, but without lasers to support that, it's still just a shadow of the Glorious 4xML + 2xAC2 BJ1 .
Now, if only 2 of Huginn's ballistic hardpoints were energy. Mmmmmmm...
Resume: dear PGI, please don't fear. We have Ilya, DS, Ember and Heavy Metal in this game. It's ok for a hero variant to be slightly more powerful than the regulars, or on par with the best regular variant, if there is one. Making gimped heroes that pale before the shining regulars only leads us to buyers' remorse. I mean I can artificially marry myself to an idea of loving the Oxide, but it just doesn't stand up to the confidence of Jenner-F jumping around dishing out 25-30 point laser alphas all day. And there are many such examples.
Oh, and signuture design matters too. Catapult hero not having missiles, moreover, being an energy boat, is something I'll be grumpy about for a long time.

It would be better than all other Raven variants and this is exactly what they want to avoid.

Being concerned about accusations of pay to win is one thing.... this over concern is causing us to have an outright worse versions of hero 'Mechs than the free to play options.
BUT you get your increased income from battles, no??

That is the crux of the matter now isn't it? Sure you might get a Cbill bonus but if the mech performs worse on the field you don't make as much money to begin with so chances are that the 30% cbill bonus might actually bring you up to par with what you could do in a non hero Raven like the 3L.
Try it out. Do 10 matches in a 3L kitted the way you like and then 10 matches in the H the way you like and see the difference in income.

but does that make it worthwhile? once you max it out will you actually drive it still vs a 3L or Ember? Im willing to bet you really won't drive it much..
How many La Malinche's do you see on the field now that the 3E is out? How many Pretty Baby's vs 8Rs and 9Ms. Boar's Heads vs DDcs.. They are ok Heroes but the c-bill variants are better and as you'd expect you see them more often.

Yeah, that's the build I went with. It's fun, gets kills, does damage, and is completely different than any other light in game. I give it a thumbs up. I suspect some people really just wanted to buy a hero tag for their 3L.

I think that's flawed logic. Even the widely considered "best" hero (Ilya Muromets) isn't seen as often as the standard variants of the chassis. I see more 3Ds than Ilyas, more Stalker 3F + 5S + 5M than Miserys, more of the standard Firestarters than the Ember. That doesn't mean those hero mechs are bad.
Sure, it's a for fun mech. Lots of mechs aren't "competitive" and are for fun. Only the individual pilot can decide if a for fun hero is worth it for them. For me, sure is.

If they released powerful Hero mechs, the cries of "Pay to Win!" would reach epic proportions and echo to the farthest corners of the Earth and the internet.
But who cares? People already cry about everything in epic proportions that echo to the farthest corners of the Earth and Internet.
Crying is a given with this community. So may as well just give us useful hero mechs.

Yes, loving it!: 2 (8.3%)
No, it is garbage: 14 (58.3%)
No, it needs tweaking (explain): 5 (20.8%)
Don't care; I don't pilot lights: 3 (12.5%)
Add B and C and you get 79.1% of people are unhappy with the mech in one form or another.
Sorry but 24 people is barely an adequate sample size of the community. All you are doing is padding the numbers to make your flawed point.

Want to make it better? I recommend you add at least one energy point to the center torso. Two would be better. THEN, only then, would this mech be worth anything.
