The thing that keeps popping into my head is how did these nitwits that are PGI make the game we had in closed beta?

Its been a year and a half since CB ended and what have they done really?

Did all the programmers quit/get fired? Did PGI win the CB of MWO from someone on a bet?

No lobby, no CW, no in game voip, no to groups over 4 or less than 12, no to a simple working UI and, no hope in sight.

The saddest part is they had the perfect roadmap laid out all they needed to do was give us an updated version of 3025 and the Mech Warrior fans would have loved them.

I'm still pretty sure Smith & Tinker created the groundwork for MW:O. If you go look at the history of this game, they were the original developers, who then teamed with PGI...and then bowed out of the project.

I firmly believe PGI had nothing to do with the good aspects of the technology side of this game.

Even the beautiful artwork gets completely fubar'd by poor modeling which has created assault size mediums, and mechs with such terrible hitboxes they are almost unplayable.

How do they cater to WoT players? Can you specify please? I'm interested because I'm WoT player myself and I don't feel like I'm being catered to.

LOL, actually that is a generalization that may not have been that fair to use. If you feel offended I appologise, but the spirit of the comment remains the same e.g. E-sport players vs. Immersive IP lovers.

No, I'm not offended at all. I really failed to understand. But after your clarification I'm still not sure that PGI can be seen as catering to E-sport players. I'm not from this crowd but I think that they would expect better built-in infrastructure like comms, lobbies, open stats etc? WoT has it, but MWO does not. From my point of view the situation looks contrary: PGI fails to deliver features generally recognised as mandatory or at least highly expectable from MMO game, so PGI plays IP card, holding the franchise hostage and feeding IP lovers with promises and shiny mechs. Again, my words aren't meant to offend, as I love Battletech too.

WoT also comes to mind mind in relation with 3PV debacle (and despite 3PV being present in WoT I was hardcore anti-3PV forum activist until the ship has totally sailed. I still don't use it in MWO).

Just more Proof that PGI/IGP is a totally incompetent gaming company.

The big boss of the company needs to "guess" what is going on with his products. That basically sums it all up.
(and yes, I know that a CEO does not do everything him- or herself. I run a company myself. But I know exactly whats going on, and I decide a different way if something goes the wrong way)

So, having said that, would it not be more important to CW to have the ability for faction groups to find each other to play against each other, short of implementing a large group queue, which they have said is low priority until AFTER CW

and don't forget that CW is obviously still not started, as they have offered to push it back yet again to implement easier stuff first.

I take that as "we haven't started yet, and hell, it looks like work without direct revenue - let's make some minor fixes and wait for clans to arrive, some guys will surely buy MC to get them faster!"

I think with private matches that ladder-type leagues will hold people over till CW... In all reality that is all the other titles ever had, user based leagues and they did "ok." I would hope that PGI uses some time after launch module drops to optimize the code in the game, fix the vast majority of bugs, and maybe drop a real lobby on us. CW won't be much fun if you keep getting kicked to desktop or bad frames or whatever other little bugs there are.

I think what is missing in all this, and I think this is what PGI can't just wrap their brain around, is that a LOT of players don't care about ladder leagues, tournaments, etc. they just want to play with their friends.

That's why I'm hoping what you're providing at mwlobby will just give my group a way to join a lobby and list it as "5 Player Premium open" then anyone looking through the lobbies will see that and say "Hey, we got 5" then they join in and we can discuss the parameters of the match.

I don't care what I'm ranked anywhere, I'm old enough to be secure in both my manhood and Epeen that I don't need it advertised, and I think that goes for most of the people I play with too.

Speak for yourself... I bought fancy boots to wear to the National E-Peen measuring Competition & Pig Roast and I'm not about to return them! :(

sigh...I find myself asking more and more frequently...why? Why is Mechwarrior in the hands of PGI? A game I grew up with, have so many fond memories of in both TT and video gaming. But of all the competent companies out there that could have brought MW to its fullest and greatest potential, who by now would have likely given us all that we have been hoping and asking for, we instead have PGI/IGP handling the title.

Yeah, PGI is making a game that does not cater to BT fans, MW fans, FPS fans, or Esport fans. It satisfies neither veteran players or newcomers. Who exactly is the demographic for this game again?

People that "don't know any better" or ever compared MWO to other F2P games... as long as they get that one transaction from you...

I can just feel my friends list swelling with people I don't really know, nor care to, just because I needed their name to invite to my private match for one tournament one time... sigh

Good thing they fixed the Friends list bug (finally) that would crash your client if you had too many friends, and took 2 minutes to populate otherwise.

That is, until they break it again.

Doesn't the word "Private" conflict with the idea of a "Public" game browser?

really don't see the problem here. I'm really just hoping that it will truly provide us a way to fight 4v4 or 8v8 or even 1v1 if we want!!!

Now, how do you find your opponent?

I can't even word how incredibly tired and fed up I am with all this.

On a different note, Roadbeer, I remember accusing you of whiteknighting. Have you been MiB-flashed or something? ;-)

By 3rd party things, Teamspeak, Leagues, mwolobby.com, etc.

I guess I don't get why anyone thinks PGI needs to provide that since they are giving us the tools to do what we want, and public play for everyone else. As long as they don't screw that up its just peachy. Solaris can finally be ours!!!

First then came at us with MC Consumables, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't going to use MC Consumables.
Then they came at us with 3PV, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't competitive and saw no problem with 3PV.
Then they came at us with Ghost Heat, and I didn't speak up because I used balanced builds and Ghost Heat didn't effect me.
Then they came for Group Play, and there was no one left to speak up for me.

Yay, you get your competitive Solaris, but what about us groups that just want to play with more than 3 people?
This was, after all, their solution and the 'reintroduction' of 2-12 play.
