Some of you people just don't get it. A large percentage of us do not care about or want to play 12v12 competitive matches or tournaments.

We don't want to run the meta builds which are a must if you are going to play against the comp guys.

We want to group up with our friends and drop in our mis-match of crappy mechs and fight a bunch of people in their mis-matched crappy mechs.

I don't own an ECM mech, I don't own any Highlanders or Victors, I don't own an AC20 you may think I'm dumb or crazy for not having any of those but I don't want to have to own a certain mech or use a certain weapon loadout to have to play I have 36 mechs I want to be able to use them all. But you can't take just any mech if you are going to play competitive matches not without screwing your team anyway.

A lobby system where the great unwashed masses can group up and talk with one another put together their group of crappy mechs and drop against another random group of the unwashed. That's what we want and what the game will have to have for CW to work.

You sir are apparently simply "having fun" and clearly you don't realize the gravity of your position! I'm pretty sure a nerf is in order!

(I'll gladly join you in your mis-matches adventures) :D

Ugh, well there goes my dream of groups Taunting/trolling for groups with the name of their room in the lobby... or

"I got 300 days of Premium, come play in my lights only, CTF game play!" Type matches. Or
"I have 300 days of Premium. 1v1s all day. I'm the best, you die like the rest" and other types of 'Public Privates.'

Zone... remember the green circles in the zone...

Jacob the old MSN gamming zone was for everyone to enjoy you could just have open games for fun or lock the room with friends and just train or have fun also from 1v1-12v12.

Also you would meet players from all over the world to have fun games with or become pals and friends.

For MW3 and 4 the zone wasn't integrated into the game either... check out http://mwolobby.com , you might be surprised...

check out http://mwolobby.com , you might be surprised... =Yes brilliant the problem is MWO has no pre launcher ability's like the old games had plus MWO has not the options of picking maps, game modes or even saving mech configurations to use per battle.
Let me see if I can find a pic of the MW4 launcher options.

Posted Image

Well I found this one but it does not show the options screen where you could virtually make your own type of battles on over 300+ known maps and 15 game mode types.

I used to play on the zone in mw3 and 4, I know how it worked and hopefully PGI will either give us something similar or allow us to launch into the game from 3rd party websites like ours in the future. Until then you can advertise your game at mwolobby.com and then send invites in the game.

Just a small band-aid till we can get the functionality we are all hoping for.

Seriously, they have all the games running on servers.
It's really NOT that hard to simply list those games in a user interface, and provide the ability for folks to join them.. even enable a password protection for folks who want to lock a server for a specific purpose.

This isn't some kind of crazy lostech. This is pretty basic stuff that every game has had for decades.

Even Diablo 2 had this feature on Battlenet... and it is well over 13 years old. Lostech it is, I guess...

The real problem is the old PC MechWarrior versions had there own built in server so you had the server and client software already installed on your computer. With MWO you just have the client software and not the server software which makes it harder to host games unless you hosted your very own MWO server just like PGI/IGP does.Which I don't think will ever happen even if the game were to die and the software not released for public modding.

I never really understood why folks used the zone for MW4, given MW4 had zonematch integrated directly into the game... The Zone web interface was so clunky.

I guess I liked the community on the zone, the shit talking in the chat, it all just added to the experience.

MW4 didn't have a global lobby. It's simple as that.

Some multiplayer games don't have it (even CounterStrike), which can be "OK" in a sense, but you had to drop into a server to be able to chat with anyone... which wasn't a huge deal.

Global lobbies do more for a community, particularly with one that struggles with population. You could get away without one in popular games.. MWO isn't one of them though.

Ah, OK. That explains it.
We generally just used specific units servers for that, or coordination through league forums and comms servers, IRC, etc.

IRC... lol, how hard would it be to incorporate THAT into the game.
A chat client that you can scroll in, and have multiple tabs.

I know, I know... LOSTECH

You keep talking about technology that is in Grade C games, these are developers with vast experience in Grade ZZZ and console hunting and fishing games. These are new concepts apparently. I mean some folks get on them for Community Management, how much CM you think you need for shovelware?
