thats not an effective way to play the game though.
Its actually the changes to gauss that hurt the dragon the most. gauss was the ideal weapon for a long-range flanker like the dragon. but now its just too hard to aim the damn thing when youre going 105kph.
It doesn't help that the increased speed for arms makes side swipe shots very hard with AC's on arms, and the Gauss is close to impossible. It's still a great build on the Flame(which I still love with Gauss/4ml or 2LPL/2ml) but it's a hero mech and therefore doesn't count. The basic Dragons are hard to use the Gauss well and still protect it in arm by twisting away.

DRG-1C with a large XL, ASRM4, 4ML and your pick of the litter for AC with plenty of armor and lots of ammo/heatsinks.
TDR-5SS with 2 (ER)LL, 5 ML and cranked with heatsinks. Surprised me when it actually worked on Terra Therma.
Edit: Late night posting after reading all of the Dragon and Thud hate. I will admit that the Thud is average at best and the CT on the dragon prevents it from being a standup fighter making it the world's largest light mech, but I've found success in the past with those two. They have a special place in my heart as they are.
I don't hate the Dragon, it's been one of my favorite mechs since close beta. That doesn't change the reality that it's a very difficult chassis to play. An exceptional player struggles to rank high in Dragons. And there's multiple reasons for that. Doesn't mean I hate 'em, just that they do need some love.

As long as they deny to bring a new Mech with ECM - i can't loose the feeling that there is something about ECM...that will drive everybody nuts
3067.
How many times does I gots to post it, yo?

Also, in this case, it's not just being out of timeline or ECM, but having the ballistic and Jump jets.
Yeah, all we really need in this game is an (out of timeline) STEALTH POPTART.
Sorry folks, but no.

That arrived, we just aren't joining the battle till wave 5. Unless they wisely reset the clock to give us a better start point. Wave 2 sounds best.

so we start wave 5 in November 3051...not in June - maybe this will be the "last" possible starting date for the CW

Clans arriving? No, our units having been moved into position to face them. Travel across the known 'verse ain't instantaneous.
and what the heck is "tripping the wire"? Is it like "jumping the shark" cus that looks exciting!
Also, even removing the timeline issue, the Stealth Poptart thing?

The 3L Raven.
I know I'm going a few pages back, but I have to point out that the FS9-S1, GRF-2N and STK-3Fb each have ECM in our part of the timeline. I know the latter two are royal variants from the star league era, but PGI seems fine releasing prototype mechs that never made it to production so I don't think that's much of an excuse.
Point is the last ECM mech we got was released 15 months ago. It would seem PGI has gotten cold feet about ECM and has been deliberately avoiding putting it in any mech since then. I don't know if I want more ECM in the game, but releasing a heavy or medium equipped with it might cut down on the DDC spam.

If there were to be a single Heavy I'd single out to add ECM to, it'd be the Dragon. Already in an awkward tonnage gap, no JJ, bad hit boxes... it's a prime candidate for an ECM variant balance wise. And it'd still be broken.

I lobbied for the 3Fb to replace the D-DC as our ECM Assault!

Since both the GRF-2N and STK-3Fb are SLDF Royal Brigade designs, and thus extinct (even Constar has none) outside the Clans, they are really not in our timeline.
I will grant you the FS9-S1, which I always forget as it was a retconned design, and shocker, was not actually available for play when the Clan Invasion story arc was actually introduced and run for players.
Just one more reason I hate retconning.... suddenly there are supposedly all these mechs that were available...yet for those who played the game at the tournament level in those days, we had none of them. Personal bias, I know, but I have trouble considering them "real" designs, feeling much more apocryphal than canon, as it were.

Quoting for agreement. Would definitely rock a 2N if I had the chance.
Really enjoying all 3 of the Phoenix mediums actually, thought the Wolverine could use some variant love.

Yeah, it is, because as part of their retcon, the Operation Klondike models either went with Kerensky or were pretty universally destroyed by the Second Succession War. Extinct is Extinct. And one more reason I dislike Retconning, as it is obviously filler to sell more product.
