Sadly telling people "Use Team Speak" is absurd. Not all PC multi task equally efficiently and "Team Speak" takes alot of bandwidth, which is why many people don't use it. So though I do agree some sort of Voice Communication would help, you really need a machine that can handle it and the game at the same time. Ventrillo works for this too, however it is a paid service so hardly a good option either.

That said a "PuG" only que wouldn't fix anything as you'd be forcing good solo players to play with crappy solo players resulting in alot of people just dropping out of MWO and not returning, a poor solution. Mind, thats how it is now, but other options inbetween matches to form groups, like a live chat server in the game lobby, where we can all congregate would resolve this better.

Honestly I don't think the option to "Opt Out" as the OP put it would solve anything. All you're saying is you're afraid to face them. I say, Bring 'em on! After all, its just a game, win or loose if you're not having fun you should simply go play something else.

Bull. its a $2 app on android and can even run on a frigging ipod.

Ah so that's why our queue times are so long. Not enough people chanting in the mirror.

Yeah, it's almost like they are scared of us.

In the Beer Can Battalion, we don't believe in discipline. That's for sissies and people with fancy titles like "lawman."

Also, that's not my connection, it's just the slowest broadband I'm aware of here. I have to suffer with a 50 megabit connection. If my math is right.... I could play MWO and listen to 4,000 people talk about how TS slows down their connections and be fine....

Awesome someone thinks we're fancy! Take a shot guys! :P

It's going to be funny when PGI finally implement a solo-only queue and a 1-12 queue, to watch the "l2p", "use Teamspeak", "man up" etc crowd syncdrop in the solo queue because EVIL TRYHARDS.
I will make sure to remind them of what they were saying when that time comes.

Are you from the future? A Prophet?

What madness is this, where did you get such a clearly accurate crystal ball... I want one.

unless you are serious, because it's mostly just gonna be people claiming that's what happenning. In order to account for the fact that they don't have the premade boogie man to blame any more.

Unfortunately, I know you are right, there will be those players who will still troll PUGs if the can. They are sad.

agreed It probably will happen, but it will be a very small minority that does it, and it will be blown out of proportion by PUG's who won't be able to accept getting beat by other PUGS

I personally have been having better luck dropping solo, than I have in premades recently. No, this is not a dig on my team mates, but it may show that I need to work on my teamwork skills. My point is, that a premade does not always guarantee a win and more often than not, there is at least one premade on each team. You only get better by playing, not by making excuses. If you only were matched against people with equal skill / luck / mechs, then every game would end in a tie.

What I found was that depending on the team mates my grouped play varies. If DocBach in in my 4 man I am going to have a bad night personally but my W/L will be fine. Cause he has that much higher an Elo than I do.

I'll disregard every vicious response as it was expected, The long and short of it is wheres the problem the ones that want to face premades are happy the ones that don't are happy, everyone wins , the complaining stops.

I thought I was pretty clear, under the new system for 2 players to play MWO together the matchmaker needs to scrape together 20 solo players! But lets say for sake of argument they completely disregard the system they are planning and make a new one just as you describe, will the guy who plays MWO with his eight year old son be able to opt out of the group queue if its too hardcore for him or does he just have to stop grouping with his son? Or is only you who gets to opt out of fighting evil premades?

Next Tuesday we get the launch Module that promises to rectify this situation. However, I drop solo exclusively, and I have never felt the need, not now, not ever, even in closed beta, to stop fighting because it was a lost cause. But hey, that might be just me. I welcome the challenge and refuse to allow players to get under my skin. Jocks talk smack, it's what they do, just let them do it, I guess it makes them feel bettter about something, somewhere. And with Esports on the rise, lots of people are becoming Ejocks, at least 'in their mind'.

Next Tuesday. We'll see how it works out. If it works well, PGI may get some restored faith from me, /shrug, who knows, I've seen stranger things happen.

So if he's playing with his son he cant win against other premades, But he can win against PuG's ? That cant be what your saying because it would enforce what i'm saying, PuG's are target practice for the pre's to feed on.

In the near future there will be private matches. When this happens, you can play against opponents of your choosing and make the terms as "fair" as you see fit. There is no way for the matchmaker to discern whether someone is in a group with a Pro Gamer or an infant who randomly smashes the keyboard (even the infant can get lucky).

OP? Do you not realize that the more specific the request is for the match maker, the less of a pool there is to draw from?

If you opt out of premades for pug only, you generate two SEPARATE pools for the matchmaker,
One that is Pugs and premades mixed.
One that is Pugs only.

When you open up a choice, you pull people from the mixed pool and put them in the pug only, that leaves less pugs in the mixed pool and those who are pugs in the mixed pool face premades more often. Pugs in the mix pool get fed up because they’re facing more premades, and then the opt out. Eventually that snow ball effect and migration of pug players makes it a requirement that if you are pugging, you need to select pug only mode otherwise you basically get steam rolled or team killed because you aren’t part of a team, and thus you are encouraged to just use pug only.

You’re not only creating longer wait times for mixed pugs, but you will do the same for pug only matches. Matches become increasingly unbalanced, increased likelihood of failed joins, and etc.

Do people actually put any sort of thought behind their suggestions? They’re mostly just one-off personal preferences. “My idea is perfect when I think about it like this so that’s how it should be because I know I’ll like it more”. When you suggest stuff like that without considering the entire community and how things will play out, you are basically wasting everyone’s time.

But let’s play devils advocate here:

Pug Only Guy: “but MoonUnitBeta, why not just make the default join filter include both pools, that way the people who don’t care who they fight will be matched where they are needed!”
MoonUnitBeta: “So you’re telling me that in order for your bad idea to work so you have to freedom to do what you want, you want another bad idea to make up for it? Regardless if people are default being matched to either pool, you are still separating the pools. The fault is that you are relying on other players to make up for what you want, and depend on those players not to pick a side. You really think that the majority of people just aren’t going to pick one? Especially if they suspect that picking one will award better fairness, more fun, etc? If they see those benefits by choosing pug only, they will choose pug only. When you open up that choice, you can’t control it. If you try to control it, you waste time managing a failing system and you start pissing people off.”

Yes a 2man premade, with an 8 year old on it, is feeding on PUGs!
