Which people find to be a better deal for $500:
1. The Gold Clan Mech.
2. A gold skin/pattern that you can apply to any mech.

I've little hope of it though.
I mean they've barely added any maps after all this time and they really haven't lived up to a single promise on Founder/Pheonix packages other than the mechs themselves. (All the CW Aspects etc)

How crazy is it that we are sitting here trying to piece together exactly what they're selling for $500?
You don't have to...
The idea behind this is as follows:
MWo has business model relying on small population of faithful adult fans, who would pour much more money than kids. Probably Star Citizen's example drove this "great idea" to be shoved into our faces. Thing is that there always are some guys, who have no problem with money, and spend thousands of dollars on their favourite game, just as they would spend it on any other treat. That's why initially 500$ was a price for only one golden mech. It allowed to make offer of spending 4000$ for those, who loves Battletech and doesn't count money.
When general outrage erupted amongst community, PGI decided to back up, adding Masakari collection to 500$ offer.
Main mistake here is that Mechwarrior players are generally adults indeed, and to squeeze money out of them, you should deserve some trust credit. Obviously, after so called "release", Phoenix packages and total lack of development PGI does not have one. Cloud Imperium, for example, is founded by legendary game developer. The only name of Chris Roberts is a solid guarantee, backed up by years and years of successful game development. If you have money, if you were a fan of his space sims and money is not an issue, you'll throw 'em in monitor to make sure, that you buy all the cool stuff in this game. But in case of MWo... eeerm... only a list of broken promises...

If you don't what that is, google it.
Whining and Hating on something you don't want/can't buy is Pretty Damn Lame.
What, so you're gona key a Ferrari if you'd see one cause you don't want it or can't buy it?
That being said, maybe the people who bought a gold mech just FRAKKIN LOVE MECHWARRIOR more than you.
Get over it already..

their goes those words Broken and promise. Despite the vast content that has been coming out lately not to mention that CW is close around the corner. Better yet; It is 1 month till clans. I get my timberwolf and that was what i was expecting.

I have a dollar or two spare income, but I wouldn't have been as blessed in my life if I had spent my profit unwisely, no reason to start now.
But my gripe isn't with who buys this stuff it's that the PGI or IGP are actually laughing at us....lol....you don't think there was a "well let's throw a crazy price on this stuff!" in the meeting room? It certainly wasn't, "we care about our community, let's open a loyalty program or comp and give away some exclusive gold clan gear", after all we are cleaning up with the clan packs".
Anyway it's apparent to me but I don't know it all....so who knows maybe there is some other reason for a $260 skin.
