What about a team that fails to show up with 12 people? Will they be allowed to play? Will they be penalized tonnage for the missing player(s)?

What about handling any sort of crashes at match startup (yes, this still happens to people)? Will teams be allowed to call for a rematch before engagement or do we have to suck it up and deal with it?

What happens if teams cannot agree upon a time? Will one be assigned to them or will their be an arbitration to determine which team forfeits, or do both forfeit?

Lotta questions about the process, and those are just off the top of my head.

Since this is a demo event, which will require additional dev and server monitoring to help identify and manage any problems with the system we have created, we aren't able to put this particular event outside of our normal operating hours. If the system proves stable enough in the future to run for a few hours without being supervised, we will happily run different times in later tournaments for different timezones. ;)

For emphasis for the EU/Asian folks, and please cut it out with the geographical sniping

Here is to hoping PGI recieves so many applications for participation they are forced to expand to 64 teams.

Not to nit pick, well I guess a little... The image on the front says register now. I have someone that said he was with another group that was "registered" and that they knew some of the PGI staff...

I know a little conspiracy theory I guess but it piqued my spidey senses.

. Live-streaming Delay has been extended to 5 Minutes to further ensure secure and fair play within the matches.

This should prevent any wardrobe malfunctions from being broadcast as well.

Should be a fun tournament with some nice prizes. Good luck to all!

Hope this tournament will show, just like others, just how stale the game play has become due to DF dominance.

Yeah, that's gonna be a problem. Most people aren't going to want to start the clock ticking on their banked time just for a tourney. That's what this is forcing them to do.

Quite a few organized teams are making full use of the the private matches. It's a great way to train and test out builds and strategies. No one in my unit has refused to use their premium time for the unit.

I think your 'most' will be limited to solo players 'mostly.'

So essentially a tournament that only caters to 16% of your player base.

i'm very much a soloist but it's been long argued that teams have their own tourneys so this is very well recieved.

all we need is an UI that really helps to build up teams and that 16% will be back at 50% before too long and tourney's like this will be a very good investment for IGP/PGI

Love the idea, but only 3 subs? Come on, we have timezones and everything, and a WHOLE series of matches, anything can happen... people moving, finals, or just work getting in the way of the match schedules... consider making it more please!!!

I agree, but some of the smaller groups and pugs grouping for this event may have trouble getting 15 confirmed.

Thumbs up to PGI for having this tournament from a mainly casual solo player.

Would be nice if it could eventually evolve into a multi-divisional league to cater for all levels of the playerbase.

What's the policy on disconnects? Match goes on lopsided or is there a redo?

Critiques

Please bear in mind I have run tournaments before in other games.

There is a time crunch here. Tournaments for solo players can be crammed into a few days because the player can fit the # of matches needed within the few days of the Challenge/Tournament. Here you are talking about getting two teams of 12 to work together in a short period of time.

Usually people work Mon-Fri though there are exceptions. Thus it is best to set any match of teams within a few days. Each round should have a 3-4 day window to be held in to accommodate as many of the players as possible even with alternates. The first 2 brackets come close to doing this. Quarter-Finals are very limited to one day and Semi-Finals & Finals are crunched into one day.

It seems odd all round but the last are set in small maps, the last one is on a big map with usually 2 limited options for where fights take place. While there have been the rare fights near a base in Assault, Crimson Strait usually sees fights either within and outside the tunnel or in the saddle/pass. Given the time crunches, I would have set the first two rounds on big maps then the 3 Finals brackets on small ones. I would have avoided Crimson Strait with its limited play in where fights break out. Canyon Network, Tourmaline Desert and Terra Therma have a much broader area where people fight making matches interesting and opening up tactical and strategic options.

I understand you want to promote team play, I would have chosen 4 man teams first. Getting a full 12 man for some is tough, plus tools were added to encourage 4 man Lance play. New people not familiar with Lance and Company organization should be taken in steps, a tournament with Lances is the first step to understanding teamwork. It is easier to learn how to work with 3 people in a match than working with 11.

The Hero/Champion Mech awards do not state if they come with a Mech Bay. Given that I discovered my Hero purchases recently did not have Mech Bays, I would think not so I presume people need to have open Mech Bays if they win yet I could understand if people get confused.

Premium Time does not say if it is banked or not.

And again you been asked to use 3rd party site/software(as in non game assets)to organize a team in a game with no real community feature available in game to do so. And when you have got 15 players you have organised to play with thru either a web site or 3rd party coms or god knows how, you havnt got a way to easily chat and organise it in game(ya tell me how you can chat to them thru your friends list or in a drop lobby)

In a lobby there is a chat already there.

However friends list is just basically a PM.

Still be nice to see an actual general chat while in the frontend (mechlab)
