You make plenty of arbitrary points for various things, including 3PV, 12-mans, and host of other things. If one were to translate your playtime to what you claim is "reinvigorating" the community, then very little has changed. It's kinda like a PGI policy where you don't get to say as much if you're not playing, which is dandy and all. How am I to take you seriously like the people that refuse to play anymore and complain here IF you're not actually playing the game?
If I knew who the teams were that got in, it would be easy to figure out the winners (more or less).
My point was that you haven't really played enough as of late to determine the feeling of the community. You can't really just blanket saying that the community is "healthy" for this, because if this were done back in open beta, there would probably be at least DOUBLE of those that have signed up for this event. There would have been many more groups playing this, regardless of the balance/status of the game, and given it more praise. At this point in time, we're essentially doing a beta tourney for a game that's not in beta anymore. If you want people to garner more excitement, some of these things should have been available long before this point in time.
I don't even know where to start... OK, let's start at the end.
Every game that releases a new feature has a *beta* period where they test out new features. Every WoW expansion, for example. So why you bother to point out that it's a beta feature of a released product is just disingenuous at best. And you know it.
And since I'm an active participant both in game and on multiple forums, I have a pretty good idea how this portion of the community feels about the launch module: If you weren't an arbitrary hater of everything PGI does, it's been a huge boon to both the competitive community and the casual one. The ability to hold small private matches has been loved by all.
This tournament is one more thing that PGI is delivering for content. They are hitting release dates, delivering on promises, and creating new content. Participation is up, as is enthusiasm. Your distaste for PGI is preventing you from acknowledging the positive steps they've made, and your resistance to this tournament is just another sign that it doesn't matter what PGI does; you're against it. Cure cancer? Peace in the middle east? DOESN'T COUNT; PGI LIED!!!
So keep believing that this tournament doesn't mean anything. Your island (unlike the player base) is getting smaller and smaller.
